Chapter 22: Chapter 22
SCARLETT's POV
After two weeks…
“Wake up, Mommy! We’re leaving!”
“Hmm…”
“Carrie, we’ll leave later; give her some time to rest.”
“Brother—”
“Carrie.”
“Okay,”
When I woke up, they had both exited my room, so I just smiled and stretched.
When I saw the big clock and realized it was lunchtime, my eyes widened, and I jumped out of bed. I dashed to the bathroom to complete my routine, even though that I still don’t know what to wear.
I took out everything I could wear but still couldn’t decide, but I realized as odd when I remembered why I had to choose what to wear. Not only that, but I will only come to see my children, not Dominic. Oh, damn you, Scarlett.
That’s it, regardless of what clothes I wear. TSK, I’m not going to a party.
I left my room after finishing my routine to see the kids.
“Don’t cry, Carrie,”
When I heard brother Carter’s voice, I frowned and went into the twins’ room, where I saw Carrie crying.
“What happened?” I asked as I approached them. When I looked at Carter, he shook his head.
He said, “She saw Dominic leave with Sophia and their child.” I frowned and returned my gaze to Carrie, who was still sobbing.
My fists clenched, and I hugged my daughter to comfort her.
You don’t have a word, Dominic. I gave you the opportunity to make amends for your children, but you failed.
“Sophia invited Dominic to take their child for a walk,” Carter sighed. “I can’t believe Sophia used her child for something like this, TSK.”
Before I looked at him, I bit my lip and took a deep breath. “Can you please leave us alone first?” I asked. His brows just raised, but he nodded and walked away.
I sighed and sat down beside Carrie. “It’s me, mommy,” I whispered. She peered in as she sobbed and hugged me.
Dominic, you’re an asshole!
“M-mommy, I thought daddy wanted to join us today,” said Carrie. I stroked her back and kissed her on the cheek.
“We can leave just the three of us, okay? The situation has changed.” I wipe her tears.
“Mom is right. We can play today with our mom,” said Agustin as he walked towards us, hands in his pockets.
Because of his actions, I clenched my teeth. Agustin is just five years old, but he acts like a young man because he goes to his uncles, and learns certain things, but they are still my babies.
“Can we play, brother?” Carrie assured him.
Agustin nodded and smiled at his twin, who was also hugging him. When I saw my children understood the situation, I just smiled and wiped my tears away.
“Do you want to swim?” I asked. Their eyes widened, and they nodded.
“Yeah!”
I smiled as they changed to take a swim in the pool area.
“Brother, we can ask our uncle and aunt to teach us how to swim.”
“Of course we can.”
They run down the stairs to the pool area. I followed them with a smile.
I ran into mother Lydia, who was wondering why we hadn’t left yet.
“Oh, I thought you were going for a walk?” she asked. My smile had faded, but I continued to show mom Lydia that we were fine.
“They wanted to go swimming,” I said.
“I’ll make you something to eat.”
Before following the kids, I nodded.
I noticed the siblings, Erin, and Rios, who were already in their trunks with my children, so I went to the side to place their towel.
“Mommy!”
When Carrie waved, I smiled and nodded. my two cousins also relieved her sadness.
“You don’t have any work today, Erin?” I asked. He just grinned and shook his head.
“I’m the CEO, so there’s no problem if I don’t come in,” he smirked, making me wince.
They are rich, TSK.
“Even so! Your company will go bankrupt later!”
“It won’t go bankrupt because my employees are good,” said Erin, but Rios hit him.
“How funny! They robbed you!”
“They cannot do that.”
“Are you certain?”
I couldn’t help but shook my head at these siblings. They’re simple. After all, their businesses are their efforts, and each of them has their own company that the chairperson will provide, but my cousins would rather not rely on him for everything, so they start their businesses while they are still young, TSK.
And I worked hard for what I had, but uncle Carlito told me that my grandmother’s properties it named after me, and I know my father was responsible for them.
“Hey, why don’t you invite us?”
We turned to face our other cousins. When I saw Lux and Ara, I smirked because they appeared to be from their agency.
“I want to go swimming, too!” said Lux. Her eyes widening as she saw my children. “Oh, my goodness! Hello, Carrie and Agustin.”
Carrie waved at them, but Agustin only nodded because he listened to his uncle Rios.
I laughed and shook my head because my cousins who hang out with my kids are acting like kids, and my kids were happy because they’re with their aunts and uncles.
“Did you already meet Solen Madrid?”
When someone spoke next to me, I jumped in surprise. I glared at him because he was like a mushroom that appeared out of nowhere.
“Sometimes remind me you’re with us,” I said.
Carter smirked and looked at my kids and our cousins at the pool.
“Did you meet her?” He asked. I frowned because I did not know who he was referring to.
“I mean, Sole Madrid. You met her,” he said, turning to face me.
It took me aback, but I just nodded. I called him last week to ask if he knew Solen Madrid, but he did not respond. Carter’s actions can become very suspicious sometimes.
“She wanted to invest in my business, but she insulted me, TSK,” I said, crossing my arms. “I don’t even know her. I don’t know Solen Madrid in the business world.” He smirked as I stared at him.
“Be careful with her, esp with snake people,” said Carter. I frowned because they repeated what Rios was saying.
“Do you know her, and what do you know about her?” I asked. He just grinned and laughed.
“Let’s say I know a bit about her, but I haven’t been able to confirm who she is.”
I winced because Carter spoke like an alien every so often. Sometimes you understand him, sometimes you don’t, but everything makes sense.
Sighed and shook my head. “I don’t understand what’s going on, and everyone around me is hiding secrets. They don’t want me to know.” I frowned. “And, I’m uncertain if I can trust anyone else here or if I can only trust myself,” I said as I turned around to face Carter, who had lost his smile.
“What do you think, Mr. Knight?” I smirked.
He didn’t respond, but he would seem to be deep in thought. Brother Carter is someone I know who keeps his plans to himself rather than telling others. That is why our entire clan respects him.
“You punished Dominic without my permission; I forgive you because I know it’s your right to do so, but…” I said as I smirked and leaned back in my chair. “Don’t forget that I’m also guilty; I deserve the punishment, but you’re against it.”
I returned my gaze to him, who remained silent.
“Are you listening, Brother?” I asked. He blinked, turned to face me, and moved closer to mess up my hair.
“I’m leaving, I have something to do,” said Carter as he left in front of me, but he looked up at the terrace where the chairperson's room was, so I looked up as well, and I was surprised to see the chairperson.
“Grandpa,” I whispered. He turned to face us before returning to his room.
Carter had already left, so I turned away.
I was just irritated because Carter said nothing, and he still hasn’t answered my questions. TCH.
I don’t understand him; they have the same attitude as Rios. They will make you think about their conduct.
“Scarlett.”
When I saw Dad, I turned around and smiled. “Dad!”
He smiled and took a seat next to me. He looked at my kids.
“You did a good job raising my grandchildren,” said Dad, smiling.
I turned away from him. “Dad.”
He looked at me with a shake of his head.
“I apologize, Ven.”
I came to a halt and looked at him again. Why is he apologizing? I should apologize because it was my fault.
“Sorry for what?” I asked, smiling. “I should be the one to apologize to you because I am the one who broke our law.”
He shook his head and took my hand in his. “I apologize for everything, and I’m sorry if I stopped looking for you back then,” he said as he bowed, and I shook my head because he didn’t have to. “As the eldest Knight, you know I also have a responsibility to the family.”
I averted my gaze and took my hand away from him, knowing that we all have responsibilities in the family, but I just let it go.
“I know that, dad, and I’m old enough to handle myself; just look after mom,” I said. “I must apologize, but I often hear you two fighting, and I don’t know what to prioritize, my decision or my family,” I grinned, tears coming in my eyes. F-ck.
I wiped away my tears and laughed. “I feel like my decisions are always careless, so what I did affects even our family.”
He kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around me, so I could only lean on his shoulder.
“We raised you well; please allow me to make amends to you and my grandchildren.”
I hugged him and nodded, but Sophia and I will not change the way we treat each other, and I’m curious what secrets you keep from me, you don't want me to know.
I will not say that I am the target of them and not the chairperson until I have received complete confirmation.
Dad and I had just discussed his grandchildren, so I told him everything except what happened to the three of us.
They don’t need to know because my relationship with Dominic has long been over.
