Chapter 30: Chapter 30

5pm at Citadel's.

The showroom was scanty than it was in the morning as it was nearing time to close. Lights out is in 6pm, and all employees except the security personnels are to leave.

Ollie's smile was a little wry as he roamed the show room in his black pants and white long sleeve shirt, unsure of how to execute his mission. He tugged on his bowtie every now and then as he eyed his two colleagues scattered about the place. His aim was the Laguna tear drop necklace in the vitrine which was quite in plain view as one of the valuable pieces.

'Damn that dirt bag, why do I have to do this?'

He cursed in his mind. When he saw one of his colleagues walking his way, Ollie walked towards another vitrine close enough to that of the Laguna tear drop at a regular pace. He quickly pretended to notice a dirt as he swiped the vitrine with a finger and pulled out his handkerchief to clean it.

" Always so attentive, Ollie" The lady in a white blouse and black trousers with a similar red bowtie to Olly, said with a gentle smile as she passed by Ollie.

" Heh~ J-just doing my job Roslyn" Ollie responded a bit at unease.

He only heaved a sigh of obvious relief as the lady walked away. For a moment there, he thought he'd been caught out just so.

He was doing this with his heart close to jumping out of his chest. If it weren't for the fact that he had a 'greater purpose' to achieve after accomplishing this, he dare not even dream of trying to do any of this.

" Welcome sir, how may I help you?" Ollie followed Roslyn's back with his eyes. Seeing that a client had walked in and that she was now attending to the sophisticated woman, Ollie thought it was only perfect that he makes his move now.

' I guess I'm in luck. Right, she should buy me enough time.' He said as he slowly moved towards the Laguna tear drop necklace vitrine, his gaze still fixed on Roslyn who was busy attending to the client. Ollie had to be careful enough to avoid her seeing him.

" You know you seem like you're up to no good, Ollie" A sudden thick voice made Ollie jump in fright and shoot his gaze away from Roslyn to his front.

" Aaaah!!" Ollie yelled out loud like he'd seen a ghost when he almost ran into the man now standing before him. He was startled to the point that his soul almost left his body.

The man was tall and had quite the average body frame. He had blue convincing sharp eyes that seemed able to catch every bit of details, and he had a permanent smirk on his oblong face.

Ollie looked around sensing the cold stares from everyone around, and realizing that now he had caused everyone around to notice him, he couldn't help but grit his teeth in anger.

" What is wrong with you, Ethan?! Why would you scare me like that?" He questioned almost whispering.

" I'm sorry, I didn't mean to" Ethan said with a shrug and walked past Ollie.

Ollie glared at him as he left. He always has to get in his way that guy!

Ethan is the favorite sales assistant and the one who gets it all. He literally gets away with everything as he was everyone's favorite.

Dammit, Ethan even got off with one of their colleagues whom Ollie really fancied.

' That too, in the rest room too!'

Basically, Ollie considered him his arch enemy and the one he strived to overcome.

Ollie would never forget that heart wrenching scene that traumatized him till date when he caught them banging. He felt his whole life which was prior hanging on the brink, shatter right before him.

Shane had been really nice to him, and Ollie had thought they really had a thing going on. Only when he'd confronted her later did he realize he meant nothing to Shane. Thankfully, he was able to get over seeing Ethan and Shane having fun around after the latter was sent off.

You just wait and watch!

Ollie's determination to overcome and succeed was reignited. And all his hesitations slowly disappeared as he moved to pretend to clean another vitrine while he cautiously planned on how to lay his hands on the Laguna tear drop. This time, he would keep an eye on everyone.

...

" Uhh~" Val winced when her consciousness was revived. Though it was late and the lights in the bedroom dimly illuminated the room, Val had to raise an arm to shield her eyes from the brightness that blinded her.

She felt weak all over but she managed to prop herself up on her elbow, only for her head to buzz in a resonant pitch.

" Ah!" She let out a soft shrill that could pass as a short grunt and she shut her eyes tight in reflex. It took Val a while to regain bearing of herself, and then she opened her eyes to meet sight of a strange room that she couldn't recognize try as much as she could. It didn't take long for her to realize that she'd never been here before.

Val gently touched her temple with a palm as she looked around the bedroom with regal intricate decor.

' Where the heck am I?' She thought in a daze, trying to recollect something from her memory.

She felt awkward all over, and her body felt either tight or loose in different parts. Her undies felt ill-fitted and she moved her hands to readjust them to proper comfort.

Moving her focus to her current situation, She muttered to herself,

" I was at Attorney Chris' place when all of a sudden I..." Her eyes widened when she recollected something. She had fallen unconscious and the last thing she had seen was a figure towering above her, but his face was distorted and blurred in her memory.

' There isn't anyone else in the room at that time. Besides, I can remember what attorney Chris wore that day, so it has to be him... But what the fuck happened?' Val thought as she gently massaged her temple with a palm.

The answer to her question was obvious, she realized she must be in attorney Chris' bedroom.

Val sat up, flung the sheets off of her and moved her legs off the bed, hoping to stand. However, her legs gave in just as she stood on them, and she stumbled. Though, she managed to stand with the support of the bedside table.

She noticed a note on it and Val picked it up to read it as she helped herself to sit back on the bed.

" I don't really know what happened but you suddenly passed out and I brought you in the bedroom. If you're seeing this, I suggest you go for that checkup you've been avoiding. I had to leave for some work, and I hope you get better... Attorney Chris."

" Haah!" Val heaved a deep sigh after reading the note. She had thought that attorney Chris had ill intentions towards her.

' So that's what happened. I better visit the hospital one of these days.' Thinking she'd passed out as a result of her condition, Val believed attorney Chris' words for it.

However, the awkward feeling still lingered. She adjusted herself again.

' Must be when I passed out.' She shrugged it off and tried to stand again. This time, her legs were quite stable and capable of supporting her to a stand.

Val staggered towards the door and pulled it open, coming to meet sight of the living room again. She noticed her handbag on the coffee table and she went to grab it before leaving the apartment.

It was late in the evening, quite around 8pm. Val had told Aiden to leave and not wait for her right after he dropped her off, so she was only left with the option of taking a cab since she could only stand for so long. Her legs were still weak and could barely hold...
