Khushi’s P.O.V.

Feeling a touch on my forehead, I opened my eyes slowly only to find it was Arhaan. As soon as our eyes met, he moved his hand away and created a distance between us.

I kept looking at him confusingly. It took me sometime to get his behaviour as the memories of last night came to my mind.

We both kept silent for few moments and then breaking the silence, Arhaan spoke up, “Are you feeling better now?”

Finding nothing to say, I just nodded at that. He again uttered then, “I am sorry.”

I got shocked hearing him. Looking at me, he again spoke up, “I mean in case I disturbed your sleep.”

I felt like he wasn't talking about that but something else. When I kept staring at him like before, he spoke up, “Why didn't you tell me that you get fits of madness late at night!”

I wasn't getting whether he was being humorous or trying to get away with his sorry.

“Anyways get rest. Will talk later.” Saying this, he got out of the room immediately.

I kept staring at him until his figure went out of my sight.

I was about to get up but Api entered the room right then with a tray in hand and uttered, “Don't. Keep lying.” and got near me.

Sitting by me, the put the tray on the bed side table and sat by me. After checking my fever, she spoke up, “Still feverish.” then she turned to me and uttered again being concerned, “Khushi, are you feeling somewhat better now, dear?”

I nodded and she made me sit and took a bowl of soup in hand. I wasn't feeling like eating. But api made me take it somehow and then gave me my medicine.

I took that silently as api didn't look like she would take NO as an answer. I was feeling like having Ammi around me again and kept staring at her without uttering anything.

She then made me lie again and asked me while caressing my hair, “You wanna say something? What happened to you all of a sudden?”

I still kept quiet but when she spoke up assuming Arhaan to be the reason for my condition, “Did Arhaan do anything?", I immediately shook my head and uttered, “No api. It's nothing like that.”

Api spoke up then, “Khushi, you know, you can share anything to me. If you don't say then how would I get to know if there is any problem.”

“It's nothing like that, Api. I don't know how I got to be like this. Anyways you go. You must be busy with the arrangements of party.”, I spoke up slowly.

“Party has already got cancelled, Khushi.”, hearing her, I got surprised and uttered, “But api, it was for Arhaan's..”

Getting me shocked even more, she said, “Arhaan, himself cancelled the party, Khushi. And anyways family members are more important to us than other things. We can hold a party some other time. It's no big deal.”

Api stood up then and uttered, “You take rest then.”

Api left the room and I kept thinking, “Arhaan didn't do this for me, Api. And I am not included in this family though I wish I could be a part of your family. I just wish but I already know it's not possible."

As I kept thinking this, tears started forming in my eyes. When I saw Arhaan entering the room, I closed my eyes being afraid of facing his wrath.

After sometime I opened my eyes and found Arhaan working on his laptop.When I saw him turning to me, I closed my eyes again and fell asleep at some moment.

Arhaan's P.O.V.

After getting out of my room, I found Api in the kitchen. I didn't know why but I asked Api to cancel the party tonight and Api also agreed with me and forwarded towards my room.

I kept sitting in the living room for a while and after sometime Vai got there and sat beside me. When I looked at him, he uttered, “What happened, Arhaan?”

Before I could say something, Api got there and spoke up, “You go to your room and stay there. No need to go to office today."

Hearing Api's voice, I understood how serious she was and I didn't want to provoke her and got to my room.

Entering my room, I found Khushi sleeping. I kept standing looking at her face. She was looking all sad though she was sleeping as I saw a drop of tear coming out of her eyes.

I kept staring at her for a moment and then tried to get working on my laptop. As there was no way for me to get to office today with Api around when Khushi was sick.

The thought of Khushi and the last night incident of terrace kept interrupting me and I couldn't get to concentrate on my work and kept looking at Khushi every two minutes.

As I was feeling guilty for Khushi’s condition though I wasn't sure whether I was the sole reason for her weird behaviour.

After sometime Esha entered the room and got near me. She was also looking sad. When I asked her, “Why are you looking sad, sweetie? What happened?”

She spoke up looking at Khushi, “I want to play with aunty. But Mummy told me, she is sick. With whom will I play now?”

I also turned to her and spoke up, “She will be fine soon, dear. Then you can play and for now you come to me.”

While saying this, I turned to Esha but surprising me, she got near Khushi and lied beside her on the bed and kept caressing her hair cutely with her little hand.

I couldn't but smile a little bit seeing that and then again turned to my laptop and started working.

Khushi’s P.O.V.

When I woke up, it was already 1 by noon. I got shocked not only because I slept pretty long but also seeing Esha lying beside me.

To my utter surprise Arhaan was still in the room working on his laptop. I got up and kept sitting on bed and turning to Esha and Arhaan by turns for few times.

After Ammi I never had anyone beside me when I was ill and here..My thought got interrupted when I saw Api entering the room as she uttered, “You are awake? Are you okay now, dear?”

I didn't get to utter anything except a nod as the care I was getting was way too much for me. To my utter surprise Arhaan also got near me and when he put his hand on my forehead, I got all startled.

When api also gave him a confused look, he uttered being irritated, “What? I was just checking her fever. It's gone now."

I spoke up stuttering, “I a..am okay now.”

Api smiled at us and then turned to me, “Khushi? Are you really okay?”

I smilingly nodded at her and Esha also woke up then hearing sound and looking at me, she asked cutely, “Aunty, you okay?"

I spoke up smilingly looking at her, “Now I am fine, sweetie.”

Api then got up and uttered, “Okay then. Everyone get downstairs. I am setting the table for lunch. And Esha, you come with me.”

Api left with Esha and Arhaan and me kept staying at our places avoiding our looks. Being like that for sometime, Arhaan spoke up, “Go, freshen up."

Without uttering anything, I tried to get up but I felt somewhat dizzy. Without bothering that when I tried to take steps ahead, I was about to fall but Arhaan held me and uttered, “What happened? Didn't you say you are fine now?”

I kept staring at Arhaan being all confused at his tone. He sounded to be caring for me.

But it can't be possible.

Am I dreaming right now?

When I didn't utter anything, he again spoke up, “You stay on bed. I am calling Api.", saying this, he tried to take me to bed again but I spoke up, “No need to call api. I am fine.”

Saying this, I got out of his hold and went towards washroom slowly.

Getting out of the washroom, I got downstairs without bothering to listen to Arhaan as I didn't know whether he was being real or just doing this for the sake of Api.

And one thing I knew for sure that I will have to leave sooner or later and will have no other than me to take care of me in future like past then why depend on him!

Arhaan's P.O.V.

Khushi was about to fall but luckily I got hold of her beforehand. I tried to help her but refusing that, she forwarded towards washroom.

And I know for sure that she still wasn't totally okay. I kept standing there being confused at her behaviour. The more I was noticing her, the more I was feeling something off about her.

I kept standing until she got out of the washroom and spoke up, “Wait for me. We will go downstairs together."

Saying this, I forwarded towards washroom but got stopped midway as I heard her uttering, “That's not necessary. I am fine.”

Being annoyed enough, I spoke up, “Just do wait, will you?”

She kept quiet maybe hearing my cold voice but by the time I was out, she was not in the room anymore.

I immediately got downstairs and found her sitting for lunch with everyone. She was smilingly talking to Esha. While eating she kept talking to everyone but not bothering to turn to me even for once.

After lunch, everyone sat in the living room and kept talking on random stuffs. I got a call from Aman and got back to my room.

I again started working and after a while I heard Esha uttering, “Mama, we have a guest.” and turning to her, I found her standing beside me holding Khushi's hand. I was so lost in my work that I didn't notice when they entered.

I didn't know who was it but got confused as Khushi was looking all blank whom I saw talking smilingly downstairs a little ago.

I spoke up confusingly looking at them, “What am I supposed to do then?”

Khushi was still silent and Esha spoke up again, “Mummy called you.”

I couldn’t help asking, “Who is it?” seeing Khushi’s condition.

And getting me more confused, she replied blankly, “My father is here.”
