Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Chapter Twenty-Three

Author's Pov

As the days flew by, Rose and Alfonso found themselves immersed in a whirlwind of wedding preparations. As much as she wanted nothing to do with her fake wedding, she still needed to participate in it so as not to get her mother-in-law's eyes on her.

Her desire for a small but extravagant celebration meant that every detail had to be meticulously planned, but it was worth it as she wasn't one who loved crowds like that.

Everyone expected their big day to be a remarkable affair that would leave lasting memories for both of them and the guests as well, so who are they to say no to the humble guest?

Her mother-in-law-to-be had been everything and excited about the wedding, but it made her feel guilty, as she was excited thinking her son was getting happily married and therefore making everything perfect.

She only wishes that she gets her happy and honest bride in the future, as she did not deserve any of the lies she and her sons are throwing at her.

She took a deep breath before picking up the wedding checklist that Sofia wrote out and dropped for her on the table.

The first item on their wedding checklist was to find the perfect venue. She took another deep breath before picking up her purse and walking out of the house and into the car.

They toured several locations, searching for a place that exuded elegance and charm. Finally, they stumbled upon Millow's Gardens, a small, picturesque countryside garden adorned with blooming flowers and winding pathways.

The moment they stepped onto the grounds, she knew it was the place where she would love to exchange her vows. She thought it was too bad she was wasting such a wonderful place on fake lies and revenge.

After talking to the event owners, they made the necessary arrangements for the day before leaving.

Next came the task of selecting the wedding attire. Rose tried on numerous dresses carelessly before she picked a particular, beautiful gown made of delicate lace and adorned with intricate beading. The dress hugged her figure in all the right places; it was the perfect dress to her liking.

She couldn't help but twirl in front of the mirror and imagine what look her husband might give her when he saw her walking down the aisle if she was actually getting married to the love of her life.

She shook her head slightly to get her thoughts together. It wasn't a time to be distracted, she thought, as she reminded herself of her mission and why she was doing this.

Alfonso, on the other hand, was searching for the perfect suit to complement Rose's radiance, as he wanted to leave no trace of suspicion for his mother and guests later on.

He later opted for a tailor-made tuxedo with a hint of modern flair, ensuring he would look dashing alongside his beautiful bride.

With the venue and outfits in order, it was time to plan the finer details. She waited patiently for Alfonso to get back so as to select the other items together.

The couple hired a talented wedding planner named Lexi, who waited patiently for the couple with Mrs. Tommaso, who couldn't keep the excitement to herself and kept sharing the vision for the extraordinary event.

After the arrival of Alfonso, together they meticulously crafted every element of the wedding, from the color scheme to the floral arrangements, with fake smiles on their faces.

It was clear that the only person excited here was Mrs. Tommaso; she giggled at everything.

Roae turned away slightly, wiping away her tears. Her dream of a romantic and whimsical ambiance with soft pastel shades of blush ivory and lavender as primary colors was happening, but this time she wasn't happy like in her dreams. She was getting married because she wanted revenge on the people who betrayed her, making her wonder if it was really worth it.

She discreetly wiped her tears away before anyone could see them before continuing with the decorations.

Each table was adorned with cascading floral centerpieces comprising roses, peonies, and eucalyptus, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

As the invitations were sent out, the excitement among friends and family grew, as everyone was curious as to who the great Alfonso Tommaso was getting married to.

The couple wanted to create an unforgettable experience for their guests, and even though the wedding was fake and a thorn in their side, that doesn't mean their guests shouldn't at least enjoy the celebration. So they arranged for live musicians to serenade them during the ceremony and a renowned caterer to provide an exquisite multi-course meal.

The weeks leading up to the wedding were a flurry of finalizing details, meeting with vendors, and attending dress fittings. Tensions ran high at times, but Rose and Alfonso were able to settle things down and not raise any suspicion.

Finally, the day arrived, and the couple woke up to a cloudless sky. It was a day filled with mixed emotions of anticipation, nervousness, regret, and excitement for the guest.

As Rose stepped into her dress, she couldn't help the tears that rolled down her cheeks as she thought of her life.

She was supposed to be the happiest person on a day like this, but here she is with a clouded mind and a heart filled with regret.

It made her hate both Selena and Ryan more than anything in this world.

She couldn't help but chuckle bitterly at how unfortunate she was to have met them both in this life, as they shattered every single dream and desire she had in her.

She promised to get them back, shattering their lives into pieces until they crawled on their knees and begged for forgiveness.

With loved ones gathered around them, Rose and Alfonso exchanged their vows.

Tears of joy flowed freely from Mrs. Tommaso's eyes as they sealed their commitment with a kiss. The entire world seemed to come to a standstill as silence erupted in the room for a moment before the sounds of cheer were later heard.

The reception was a flawlessly executed event, with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt toasts filling the air.

Rose and Alfonso looked around, taking in all the smiles and happiness that surrounded them, with bitterness in their hearts. They were lying to everyone who trusted them at the moment, and it hurt their hearts.

Their little but extravagant wedding was finally coming to an end; finally, they could breathe out after having to carry a fake smile and a guilt-filled heart the entire week.

As the night drew to a close, the couple said their goodbyes, thanking everyone who had attended the wedding.

Rose went to her godmother with tears in her eyes. She was grateful for everything the woman had done for her up until this moment.

Anna threw her goddaughter a beautiful smile, making her feel more guilty as she bowed her head down to cover up the pain that passed through it.

"Are you okay, dear?" Anna asked her, touching her cheeks tenderly.

Rose nodded her head, forcing her last fake smile for today on her lips, afraid to speak so as not to say something she ought not to say.

Saying her goodbyes to Anna and the rest, she went into the car, sitting quietly inside with her head against the window.

She had no energy left in her to speak; she just wanted to get out of here and breathe. Little did she know that their journey had just begun and that the hatred that bloomed on their wedding day would soon turn into something more deep.

A/N: I hope you enjoy this.
