Chapter 13: Chapter 13
She couldn't wait for them to reach the dormitory, she was restless and anxious. She wouldn't imagine the ring being sold out to someone else. Fiona led them to the dorm she knew they could find Tina, unfortunately she wasn't at her friend's place.
“Are we supposed to wait for her? What if she didn't show up? I want my ring today, I can't imagine going home without it.” Charlene seethed grimly. Javier informed Charles about the ring, he told them to go ahead he would catch up with them later.
Fiona contemplating another place she could be then Sarah's residence rang in her head. She abruptly looked at Charlene. “I think I know another place. Sarah's apartment isn't far from here, we can probably catch up with her before she leaves. She usually goes there if she has nothing to do on campus.” Fiona enunciated thoughtfully.
“Then we should head over now.” Charlene interrupted desperately. Fiona nodded.
“Can you drive?” Javier asked as he extended the car key to her when she nodded. She collected the car key willingly, they hopped in the car and she drove away. Within five minutes they reached their destination, Charlene was the first person to alight from the car.
“This way.” Fiona stepped forward, she led the way into her apartment. As they reached the doorsteps, she knocked on the door softly then waited for her to open the door.
“I pray. I pray she hasn't sold my ring or I'm going to get her arrested.” Charlene mumbled.
The door was yanked open, Sarah pouted her lips looking upset. “Didn't I tell you to always come in without knocking? You surely love ruining my mood.” She snapped furiously. She hadn't noticed Javier or Charlene since only Fiona was close to the door.
“Courtesy—” Fiona muttered calmly.
“Fuck you!” Sarah stepped away from the door and paved a way for her. As she walked in that was when she noticed Charlene and Javier, she abruptly shutting the door after Fiona entered. “Shit! You didn't tell me you're with people.”
Fiona sauntered freely inside, she halted halfway because of the sights of what she saw in the living room. Two ladies were in the mini living room making out. Her eyes popped up, she knew Sarah to be a lesbian and that was the reason she preferred to stand outside than burst inside. “Jesus! Can you tell them to put some clothes on?” Fiona hollered hostilely as she turned around.
“What's the matter?” One of the ladies directed the question to Sarah while moving away from the other lady, she put the vibrator on the couch and walked toward another couch where her underwear was.
“I have guests. You guys should go to the room, I'm going to join you soon.” Sarah chuckled. She shrugged, she walked up to her and kissed her for a few seconds.
“Sarah!” Fiona shouted ferociously.
The lady sneered. “Don't keep us waiting. I can't wait to strip you.” Fiona rolled her eyes irritatingly.
“Disgusting.” She scoffed.
The two ladies picked their underwear and left the living room. Sarah turned to Fiona, she frowned and crossed her arms over her chest. “Can you tell me why you're here with guests?”
“It's not polite to keep guests outside. Let them in.” Sarah hissed loudly, she went over and opened the door for Charlene to enter then she raised a hand to stop Javier.
“Stay here. I can't let you in.” She shrugged her shoulders and yanked the door shut again.
Charlene looked around the living room, she wrinkled her face. “Ew.”
Sarah faced her, she extended her hand to Charlene while smiling brightly. Charlene glanced at her face, she looked at the vibrator on the couch, the other underwear probably hers since she was only in a black bathrobe. Charlene ignored her and looked at Fiona. “Oh!” She moaned feebly as her eyes followed Charlene.
“Is Tina here? Have you heard from her?” Fiona enquired. Sarah's gaze focused on Charlene alone, looking at her admiringly. Fiona scoffed disgustingly when she saw the lust in her eyes and the way she was staring at Charlene was awkward. “Sarah, she's married.”
That jolted her out of her imaginary world. She smirked and shook her head vigorously. “Being married doesn't mean I can't make her my girlfriend. I love beautiful things, I love her.”
“Thanks but answer her question already.” Charlene seethed, she was trying her best to control her anger. She couldn't wait to get out of the apartment.
Sarah turned around, she smiled and shook her head. “Tina isn't here but she already informed me she'll be here very soon.” She divulged, walking toward the couch. She picked the vibrator, the underwear and fuzzy cuffs on the table. “You can open the door now.” She went toward a basket and put everything inside it.
Fiona walked to the door, she opened the door and told Javier to enter.
“Is she on her way?” Charlene queried eagerly.
“Maybe. You must be here for your ring. I hope she hasn't sold it, she'll surely do the first thing that comes to her mind.”
“Have a seat, Charlene. Let's wait for her.” Fiona pointed at a couch but Charlene refused to sit. Javier stood beside her. Moans could be heard in the living room, Fiona rolled her eyes, scoffing and cursing while winking at Sarah surly.
Javier exchanged looks with Charlene, she shrugged her shoulders. Their moans were getting louder and it was making Charlene uncomfortable, she stifled the desire to curse out loud. She tightened her fist and cursed underneath.
Sarah unwrapped a gum, she shoved it into her mouth and chewed irritatingly. Fiona shot her a disappointed look but she didn't show any sign of remorse. If it wasn't her wedding ring Charlene would have left but she remained calm, it was a ring he gave her, there was nothing she could do than wait in the room that disgusted her.
They heard a knock on the door. Fiona pivoted to the door. “I think she's here.” She trudged to the door and opened the door immediately.
“Holy shit! You can't believe it. I'm freaking rich now. Look at what I have here—” Tina screamed out loud, she never gave Fiona a chance to talk since she was wildly enthusiastic about the money she was holding. She extended her hand to her and shouted. “Didn't I tell you? I was able to sell the ring.”
“You did what!” Charlene was already standing in front of her in a jiffy.
“You sold the ring?” Fiona asked as she couldn't believe what she heard.
When Tina saw Charlene she gasped and paced back until her back hit the door gently. “Fiona.”
“I told you the ring isn't mine. Why would you sell something that doesn't belong to you? Were you that desperate for money? I thought you should stop picking pockets but I was completely wrong about you. You never change.”
“Did you tell her anything?” Her throat constricted, she was nervous as her heart beat faster as if it would explode in her chest.
“You dare exchange my ring for money?” Charlene snapped ferociously. Before she could bounce on Tina, Javier pulled her back mildly.
“Don't, Charlene.” He cautioned.
“I'm sorry, Charlene.” Tina uttered, she looked at her feet and murmured. “I thought you don't like it since she found it on the floor. Nevertheless you can actually afford many rings since your parents are rich.”
“That's my wedding ring, you bitch!” Charlene struggled to get released from his strong grips but Javier never let go. He knew Charlene wouldn't go easy on Tina if she ever had a chance. “Javier, let go of me or I'm going to hurt you. I need to teach this bitch a lesson.”
“All you should be thinking is how to get your ring back.” Javier snapped angrily.
“It's all my fault.” Fiona murmured despondently.
“It was never your fault. She stole the ring from you even though she knew the ring was never yours, she's just a desperate bitch.” Sarah interrupted, she rose and strolled toward them.
“I'm going to get your ring back. It's already an hour but I can still get the ring back for you.” She collected the cheque from Fiona.
“You should get it back if you don't want to spend the rest of your life in a penitentiary.” Charlene said furiously.
Tina didn't bother to utter another word, she opened the door and dashed out as if she was being chased. Charlene grunted with frustration, she looked at Fiona who was perturbed.
“She's going to get it back.” Fiona eventually uttered a sentence.
Javier took her hand, she squeezed it tenderly and smiled a little. “She's going to get it back.”
They had to wait for thirty minutes in Sarah's living room. Although Sarah already left everyone in the living room to join her friends. Javier was able to calm Charlene down, she couldn't blame Fiona because she knew it wasn't her fault but at the same time she wanted to blame her for being heedless with her wedding ring.
Sluggishly someone dragged the door open, everyone turned their gazes to the door promptly. Tina walked inside, she looked at everyone despairingly then shook her head. She was still holding the cheque in her hand. “They sold the ring. There's no way I'm getting it back because they don't have it anymore.”
“Huh!” Charlene leaped up.
“You can have the money, get another ring. I'm really sorry for what I did...”
Fiona interrupted her with a slap across her face. Due to the hard slap her face became red, she held her eyes as her eyes widened in surprise. “Repeat it, I dare you.”
Tears hovered the corner of her eyes, she stared intently at her while holding her face.
“Javier, my ring.” Charlene broke down despondently.
“The ring worths more money than the money they offer you. Do you think you can afford the same ring with the amount in that cheque? Two million dollars, what's she supposed to do with that.” Fiona scolded
“I'm sorry, Charlene.” She apologized sincerely, she walked up to Charlene as she clasped her hands. “I'm going to get it back for you. There's a hope that I can still get it back since I still have it with me. It's late today but I promise to get it back for you tomorrow.”
Charlene looked up at her face surly, her eyes were red and cold. She didn't say anything, she didn't move or blink. She wanted to utter a word or hit her but all she could do at the moment was to watch Tina with a cold steady gaze. “Get the ring back or I don't know what I'm going to do to you.” She said threateningly. Tina nodded multiple times.
“Just give her tomorrow to sort it out. You're going to get your ring back.” Javier assured her.
After threatening her, they left the apartment. Charlene couldn't return to the campus, so she called Charles and informed him to come and pick her up. She narrated everything to Charles, he never stopped blaming her. He told her to forget about the ring, moreover she could get the exact ring since she had more than enough money to afford it but Charlene didn't listen, she only wanted the ring Richard gave her, her wedding ring.
She walked into the mansion ponderously, luckily Richard hadn't returned from work. She spent the entire evening in the room weeping over the lost ring. She never noticed his presence in the room until she heard his voice when he was on the phone call. Charlene lifted her head ponderously, their eyes met. She looked pitifully, Richard didn't react or care to ask about what was wrong with her. A maid came to their room to drop his briefcase, she left after asking if he had any work for her but he dismissed immediately.
On a phone call Richard informed Devyn he would catch up with them at the nightclub. He changed clothes to a casual outfit. He was about to leave when she called his name. “Richard.” He heard but he chose to ignore her. Charlene didn't give up, she called again as he was the only one she wished to share her burden with. After all, Charles and Javier blamed her for losing the ring. “Richard,”
He halted on the track, without turning back. “What's the matter?”
When she heard what he said, she couldn't wait to proceed with what she wanted to tell him. She got down from the bed and walked toward him, she halted in front of him. She fought with her hands while staring at his face, tears overflowed her eyes as they were waiting for her to blink so they would rain down on her face. “Since you don't have anything to say get out of my way.” He rasped surly.
Charlene didn't budge an inch from where she was standing. The tears she was holding trickled down her cheeks uncontrollably. Richard looked away from her, he attempted to walk away then she spoke. “I lost my ring.” She announced despondently.
Richard narrowed his eyes. “So...”
“So?” Charlene was literally disappointed, she couldn't hide it in her voice. She never thought Richard despised her so much that he didn't care about her or move by her emotion. She wanted to cry. She wanted to shout. It was heart shattering because the man she loved wholeheartedly didn't even care about her existence.
Richard rolled his eyes imperatively, he stuffed his hands into his trousers pockets. “Are you saying a maid stole your ring?” She shook her head. “Then why are you telling me?”
She shook her head again.
Richard turned around, without sparing her another glance he left the room. Charlene stood on the spot, crying her eyes out devastatingly.
