Five months had passed since Emma found out she was pregnant. Richard was ecstatic about the pregnancy. He took a break from work and took a vacation with his wife.

They went shopping for baby items and also went for various doctor’s appointment, to have ultrasound tests done, to know if the baby was fine. The tests showed that the baby was developing just fine.

Emma didn’t believe that the quiet Richard she knew could also be a fun loving Richard.

She has been treated like a queen for the past months and was already getting tired of not being able to do anything.

They came back home from their trip. Emma walked into the house and was immediately engulfed in a hug by Anna.

“Tracy, I’m so happy you’re back. How are you and the baby doing?” she asked as she touched Emma’s baby bump.

“I do feel sick sometimes, but the doctor says it comes with the pregnancy.” Emma replied with a smile.

“I’m so happy to be back home. I missed helping you out.”

“There’s no need for that, Tracy. You need enough rest now more than ever, for yourself and the baby.”

“Okay, Anna. I’ll listen to you just this once cos I’m exhausted from the trip. I’ll go upstairs and lay down.”

Emma went straight to the bedroom, while Anna went out to welcome Richard, who was on a call at the moment.

Emma laid in bed and was about to get some sleep when her phone rang. She let out a groan at the sound of the phone. She picked up the call without checking the caller ID.

“Hello?” she said

“Hello, Emma. It’s Tracy.”

Emma almost lost her balance at the sound of Tracy’s voice.

“Tra-cy?” she managed to stutter.

“Yes, it’s Tracy. I’d like us to meet, let’s say.. tomorrow?”

Richard was about to open the door to their bedroom, but stopped when he heard Tracy on a phone call. She sounded nervous, so he decided to eavesdrop on her conversation.

“Um, okay. Can we meet up at my place by 10:00am, Richard will be at work by then.”

“Okay.” Tracy replied and hung up.

Emma was nervous. She became sweaty all of a sudden. She was surprised with the fact that Tracy called her with the same number she had been trying to reach for months now.

“Are you okay?” Richard asked as soon as he walked into the room.

Emma was startled by his voice. Richard raised an eyebrow in a questioning manner, waiting for her reply.

“Yes, I’m... fine.” She replied

“Are you sure, cos you look nervous. Is the baby okay?”

“Yeah, the baby is fine.”

“Okay, try to get some rest.” He said. Emma nodded and laid back in bed.

Emma was so conflicted. She doesn’t know how she was going to face Tracy tomorrow because she knows it’s not going to turn out well.

She could barely get any sleep that night because of her meeting with Tracy tomorrow. She busied herself by staring at Richard's sleeping figure.

‘So, this is the end. I can’t believe all of this wasn’t real. I’m sorry for lying to you all these months. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me.”
