Chapter 17: Chapter 17
Dinner was ready on time. Emma was glad that Anna believed her, but she was even more grateful that she could help out in the kitchen and not be bored to death, just sitting and waiting for her supposed husband to get back from work.
She got to know a few things about Anna, making sure not to ask too much question in order not to raise any suspicions.
She got to learn that Anna had been working for Richard’s family for over fifteen years now, and she was like family to Richard.
After setting the table with Anna, Emma went upstairs to freshen up. She was amazed by how large the bathroom is, when she walked in.
She got into the bath tub and took a long bath, not just because she needed it but because she needed to think and prepare herself for her encounter with Tracy’s husband or should she say 'her husband'.
Emma got out of the bathroom after spending thirty minutes in there. She walked into the bathroom to find something casual to wear, but couldn’t find any.
She sighed in frustration because she couldn’t find what she would be comfortable wearing. She ended up picking out a black short sexy gown with a pair of black stiletto heels.
At this point, she hated herself for being someone else because this wasn’t her kind of fashion. She got dressed and put on a light make-up, retouched her curls and headed downstairs.
Emma sat in the living room, already getting nervous. She had a lot of thoughts going on in her head as to why she ever accepted Tracy’s proposal. She decided to look at the bright side of it, her brother was going to get his surgery done and he’d be back home to her.
As all those thoughts were going through her mind, Emma heard the sound of a car driving into the compound. She lost all her composure and started to freak out about what to do.
“Breath, Emma breath. Don’t freak out, everything is going to be just fine.” She repeatedly said to herself.
As soon as she calmed down, the front door opened and a six feet two inches tall, brown hair, light brown eyes, pointed nose, slightly shaven innocent and at the same time, wickedly handsome looking guy walked in. He wore a navy blue suit with a black tie.
Emma didn’t need to see him without his clothes on to know that he had a fit and perfect body.
She couldn’t help but stare, as she only got to see this kind of guy in movies.
She shook her head to restrain herself from drooling and also come back to reality.
“Um.. you’re back.” Emma managed to say, standing up on her feet.
Richard halted in his steps, he hadn’t even noticed that there was someone in the living room.
He was surprised to see Tracy home, (so he thought.)
“Yes.” Was his only reply.
“May I help you with your briefcase?” she asked.
Her question stunned Richard even more than the fact of seeing her home early.
“Since, when did you care about helping me with my briefcase?” Richard asked.
Emma was shocked by his reply and in that instant, she realized she had no idea what Tracy’s marriage was like.
Tracy didn’t give her any detail whatsoever, as to what she was getting into.
Emma stood still, thinking of a reply to come up with, which she knew wouldn’t be easy to convince Richard, like she did with Anna.
Richard went upstairs, not waiting to hear whatever she had to say.
Emma then knew this wasn’t going to be easy.
