“Sorry, I took so long to get back. I had to run some test on the patient.”

“It’s okay.” Tracy replied.

“Wait a minute, I thought you told me you’d be gone if I took too long. It’s Emma who should be here waiting, not you.”

“Well, I asked her to go stay with her brother, rather than to sit here, waiting for you to show up for God knows how long. It’s better she keeps her brother company.”

“Really? I never imagined my cousin to be this concerned about other people.” He replied, folding his arms and staring at Tracy with surprise.

“I’m hurt with what you just said about me, Steven.” Tracy said, feigning to be hurt.

“What if I told that I want to help that girl, Emma with the money she needs to get her brother’s surgery done. What will you say about that?” Tracy said, wiggling her eyebrows at Steven.

“What! You’re joking right?” Steven asked, as he looked puzzled by what Tracy just said.

“Nope. I’m damn serious and that’s what kept me waiting for you up until now.”

“So, what moved you to make such decision?” he asked.

“Well.. I dunno.” She shrugged.

“I just think she’s a nice girl who needs help and if I can be of help to her, why shouldn’t I?” Tracy lied as she had something else in mind.

“Emma is a really lucky girl. She’ll be so excited about this, I’m sure of that.” Steven said.

“She sure was excited. So, where do I go to do the necessary payments for the surgery, so you guys can perform it as soon as possible.”

“First, I’ll give you the details right now regarding the surgery and I’ll also have to call Emma so you both can sign some papers before any payments can be made.”

“Okay. I don’t have a problem with that.”

“You really are amazing me, right now.” Steven said, chuckling and shaking his head.

Emma walked into Raymond’s room and walked up to his bed, placing a kiss on his cheek. She took the chair in the room and sat by his bedside.

“Hey Ray, I have good news for you. I met a really nice lady today, who wants to help with the payment for your surgery. Her name is Tracy and she’s really beautiful… I gave her my word that I’ll do whatever she ask of me. I’m so happy that you’ll soon get to wake up and come home with me. I’ll make your favorite cookie and we’ll get to watch your favorite cartoon.” Emma said, stroking Raymond’s hair, then her phone rang.

She took it out of her pocket and saw it was Dr. Steven calling, so she immediately picked up the call.

“Hello?”

“Emma, can you please come to my office to sign some papers and get to know the day the surgery will be performed.” Dr. Steven said at the other end of the phone.

“Oh, okay. I’ll be there in five minutes.” She said and hung up.

Emma turned to look at Raymond.

“Ray, I’m going to sign some papers. I’ll be back, okay? Love you.” She said, kissing him on the forehead before leaving for Dr. Steven’s office.
