Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Wade and I shared a breakfast which he ordered from a famous fast-food chain. It was a bit awkward that we were eating something from deliveries when we should have been eating homemade foods. I thought of taking some cooking lessons but again I have no time for that. I was glad that when we were married before, he didn't make me cook some complicated dishes maybe he knew that I really can't cook that much.

I was at the receiving area when Wade and a middle-aged woman approached me. She has an average height, with a fair skin complexion, a kind aura, and a tidy appearance. This is probably the cleaner she was telling me about. I didn't want one but since both he and I would be busy in the following days; we would really need a helping hand.

"Cam," Wade said. "This is Debbie; she's our new house cleaner and house helper here for now." He said. "I know you didn't want us to have some but I think we really need her help in maintaining the house."

"That's fine; I have no problem with that," I said and offered my hand to her. "Hi, my name's Camierre, it's nice to meet you, and welcome to our home."

"It's nice to meet you too, Mrs. Harris, and thank you too," She said. I slightly raised my brow and turned to Wade. Mrs. Harris huh, I thought to myself. I almost forgot that that's how people see me, Wade's wife; a woman who married Wade because our family's company was sinking. Wade shrugged off his shoulders as if saying that he didn't say anything to her. Maybe this woman just did her own research. I smiled at her and just didn't mind what she said.

"I was told that you needed another room," She said. "Which room do you want me to clean up for now? Isn't the master bedroom enough for you two, if you don't mind me asking? I'm sorry; I shouldn't be asking you that."

"Uhm, it's fine; I just wanted a new room which will also serve as my office, you know," I said. "But I would still be staying at our room, of course. I just needed my own space since I am about to work as well."

"Oh, I see," She said. "I thought you two are going a little bit on the rocks these days."

I smiled and shook my head. People shouldn't know that we are having problems. I didn't want my Mom to know about it.

"I'll show you around," I said. "So you can get started. I can also help you with anything so it would be faster. Plus, I only wanted a simple space so you shouldn't have a hard time helping me."

She nodded and I led the way for her. I showed her one of the guest rooms and told her that I wanted it to be transformed into a bedroom slash office type. It would be difficult work so Wade called in some help from his men which was a good thing so that it would be over sooner. And true enough, it was done in just an hour or two, I guess. Well, I didn't have a lot of stuff anyway.

I took my things off Wade's room and brought them into my new room. I was arranging my things when Wade came in. He looked around with his hands on his hips; looking like he was surveying the place. It was a little over lunchtime and we just had our lunch together which he ordered again. Debbie already left and will be back the day after tomorrow to clean again.

"What?" I said as I turned to him.

"You said that you'll get back to work soon, what do you mean by that?" He said.

I sighed. I thought that something was wrong.

"Well, I have been receiving some invitations for me to model some brands so I thought of doing it. I have nothing else to do and modeling is where I'm good at." I said.

"Are you sure about that?" He said.

"Yes, why?" I said; confused about how he's acting.

"When do you start?" He said.

"Why are you asking?" I said.

"Just answer me, please," He said sounding so impatient. What is wrong with this guy?

"Alright," I said as I rolled my eyes. "I have a shoot this coming weekend."

"This weekend?" He said. "Already?"

"Why?" I said.

"I have a conference this weekend." He said.

"And so?" I said. "What does that have to do with my shoot? We definitely have different jobs; if you don't remember."

"I want to be there," He said. "Can't that be rescheduled? I want to watch your shoot."

"What?! Are you insane? My modeling has nothing to do with you, okay?" I said. "Besides, shouldn't you be working today? You've been gone for a few days."

"Today's my last day off from work," He said. "I'll be back tomorrow and will be very very busy."

"That's because you've been away for days," I said.

"That's because I was chasing you," He said, and that made me stopped what I was doing. Did he really have to say that? Whatever he would say; I wouldn't believe a thing.

"Can you just leave me alone? I'm busy here; can't you see?" I said trying to change the subject.

"Do you want me to help you?" He said.

"No!" I said. "Just leave, please."

"Alright, alright," He said as he walked to the door. What a jerk! What could he help with anyway? Arrange my undies? The hell I would let him!

I was about to get up when I saw a photo on one of my boxes. It was a photo of me and Wade on our wedding day. I wonder how it got in my stuff; maybe I have put it there before without even noticing it.

I took it and looked at it closely. We were smiling here but it didn't reach my eyes. This was the time when I still have no feelings for him. It was a different time and feeling than what I have now. If I only knew that he would just play with my heart then I shouldn't have taken the option of marrying him. I should've just run away as far as possible at that time just to escape that filthy arranged marriage with an old man but what can I do? The things were done already and there's no turning back now. It's either I face this or I succumb to this but I chose to do the first one. Life isn't fair; I have gathered that already and it is up to you to deal with it.
