Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Wade opened the door for me and helped me settle on the front back seat of the car. He then walked around and entered on the other door as he sat beside me. He was very handsome and manly in his tuxedo with a red tie to pair with my red dress.
"You are gorgeous," He said as he held my hand.
"You aren't bad yourself too." I said. He cleaned up real nice this time. Usually, he wouldn't shave but this time he was all clean. I think I am falling for him more and more everyday.
I was a bit nervous for this event. This will be the first time that I will be seen in a public event with Wade. What if controversies will be thrown at me?
"What are you thinking?" He said.
"Nothing much, just a bit nervous for tonight." I said. "I mean, I am sure people from the media will be there."
"And why would you be worried? I am with you. There's nothing to be nervous about." He said. That was easy for him to say. Everyone adores him while everyone thinks I only married him for his money. I sighed and didn't push the topic further.
"I am glad you invited me on this event. I always liked the idea of charity and helping people in any ways." I said to change the topic in a lighter note.
"I'm glad you liked it. I actually didn't think of you as a charity type of person before but when I got to know you better, I figured you'll come and join me. I wasn't wrong." He said with a proud smile on his face.
"You're bad. How could you judge me like that?" I said while narrowing my eyes at him.
"That was before, I thought you were just like the other rich girls who were spoiled and hard headed." He said defensively. Well, he has a point. I do look like a spoiled brat but I truly am not. I guess we really shouldn't judge books based on their covers.
"So, what do you think of me now?" I said and gave him my full attention.
"Hmmm, of course, I think you are a kind nice and gorgeous woman who wanted to make a change and help people." He said with a smirk.
"I am being serious here." I said and slapped him softly on his arms.
"Well, I am serious too! What? You don't believe me?" He said with a raised hand as if he was promising something.
"Really? You mean that?" I said.
"Of course," He said and suddenly turned serious. "That is how I see you. You have a kind heart and that makes me love you even more."
I don't know if it was visible that I was blushing. All I know was that I was moved by what he said. I swallowed hard and couldn't speak. What he said made me speechless.
He moved and faced me. He held my face and made me turned to him. He was about to kiss me when the driver cleared his throat as he stopped the car.
"We're here, boss," He said.
Wade shook his head slightly and moved away from me. I snapped out of my thoughts and composed myself. I didn't even notice that we were already park at the hotel were the event will be held. I saw Wade turned to my side of the car and opened the door for me. I immediately went out as he held his hand for me.
"Thanks," I said. He nodded and then offered his elbow. I hooked my hand in there and we started walking towards the red carpet entrance where the reporters and media workers were waiting.
"Don't be nervous; I won't leave you behind." He said and smiled sweetly at me. It made me relax a bit knowing that he's gonna be with me all throughout the night.
Camera flashes and questions were thrown at me and Wade. There were some who were asking if our marriage was for the sake of our company or if it was because we were in love with each other. Wade told me not to mind them and just walk as steady as I could and smile at the cameras. I did as he said. It was hard but since I had a background on modelling, I have practiced how to do it.
"You're too good at it. Looks like modelling did good to you." He said.
"Yeah, a little bit," I said and we laughed together.
After minutes of walking at the red carpet and smiling at the cameras, we finally entered the venue. My mouth formed an O when I saw the inside. It was a simple but elegant themed venue with white and red flowers as their designs. The tables were full of beautiful minimalist designs and it looked wonderful.
"Excuse me, Mr. and Mrs. Harris, your table is this way." A woman dressed in black and white top and bottom told us. "Shall I bring you there?"
"Yes please," Wade said as she held my waist and guided me to where the woman pointed.
"Alright, this way please," She said and we followed her.
She led us to the table on the front right side with our names written on the paper above it.
"This will be your table, Ma'am and Sir. Enjoy the night!" She said and bowed slightly. We thanked her just before she left us. We were early and there's still a few minutes before the program starts.
