Chapter 23: Chapter 23
I took a quick shower after sleeping for almost three hours. I was well rested from our island hopping. I sat on the vanity mirror and started doing my makeup. I saw Wade in the mirror and he was looking at me.
"What?" I said. Did he forget that we are going to a beach party tonight?
"How can you have so much energy?" He said. "Aren't you tired from our island hopping?"
"I was but I slept for hours that's why I have recharged already. You slept too, right? Why do you look so not in the mood?" I said and laughed a little.
"Yeah, whatever." He said and buried himself on the pillows. What is wrong with this man?
"Stop being grumpy," I said when I saw his grumpy face. "Come on, it's gonna be fun! There will be a live band later on and it's gonna be awesome!"
"You like parties that much?" He said.
"I do and besides, we seldom go on vacations so we must get the best out of this one," I said. "Why don't you wanna go? Because if you won't, I can go alone, okay? I can take care of myself. I'll just drink a little and dance a lot!"
"Not a chance," He said. "I'll go with you."
"Then, prepare already," I said as I brushed my hair.
"I am good to go." He said. I looked at him and he was right. He was wearing a white sleeveless shirt and board shorts.
"Yeah, right, because only girls care about how they look at a party," I said and rolled my eyes. I continued brushing my hair and started putting it into a messy bun.
"Why do you even prepare that much? You don't even know anyone there and besides, you'll just be with me the whole time." He said as he sat up.
"Don't you know? Women like to make themselves look good. No matter who or what they'll be with. It's just a matter of self-confidence and self-love." I said as if it was a piece of common knowledge.
"Alright, alright, just do your thing and tell when it's time to go." He said and laid on the bed. I let him be and continued doing my thing.
"You can just sleep, you know. I can go there alone. I promise I won't flirt with other guys there. I'll just join the dancing and the party, that's all." I said. I didn't want to burden him if he wasn't up for this thing. Besides, it's not his responsibility to join me.
"I wanna join you and that's settled. Stop making me stay." He murmured under the pillows. Okay, if that's what he wanted.
"Alright, I just wanted you to know that you have an option but it's fine and great that you're coming. At least, I won't have to go there alone." I said.
"Yeah, plus I could use a drink right now." He said.
"Alright, I'm done," I said. "Let's go and get that drink you're talking about."
He looked at me from head to foot and nodded. "Aren't you a little overdressed or underdressed or whatever you call that?"
I looked at myself. I was wearing a white two-piece covered with a black cover-up dress and white flats.
"What is wrong with this?" I said.
"You're wearing clothes that are too revealing and seductive." He said.
"Oh come on, it's a beach party, and beaches require bikinis," I said and winked at him. "Besides, everyone will be wearing something like this." What's it to him anyway? It's not like he would get jealous of the men that would go over me.
"Yeah, right," He said. "It's not like I have a choice anyway. You can wear whatever the hell you want to."
"Yeah, because this is a free country and we are going to a party. Come on!" I said and pulled him out of our room and out of the villa.
"Just be careful and promise me you won't drink too much." He said as he walked with me.
"Alright, I promise," I said.

We arrived at the venue and there were a lot of people around. There was a stage set up facing the ocean and it was lit. I looked around and saw tables and chairs around. There were also drinks around the venue. I saw some people were already dancing on the circle that was intended as a dance floor. I was right, this is one hell of a party and we are gonna have one hell of a night here. I turned to Wade and saw that he was looking around as well.
"It's lit, right? This looks so fun!" I said. "Look, there's a live band." I pointed to the stage when the band started singing and people sang with them.
"Come, let's find our table." He said.
"What?" I said when I didn't get him.
"I reserved a table for us." He said. Did I hear him right? Did he reserve a table for us? So, he didn't forgot that we are coming here tonight.
"Really? Wow, that's awesome." I said. "Please tell me you reserved the front table."
"Of course, I reserved only the best there is," He said. "Now come on, before I change my mind and pull you back to our villa."
"No, not a chance, let's go and find that reserved table of yours," I said while laughing. He can't back out now. Not when I am already loving the place.
We went to the tables and were greeted by what looked like a waitress.
"Excuse me, ma'am, what can I do for you?" She said when she saw that we were looking around.
"Miss, I reserved a table for two earlier, Mr. Wade Harris," Wade said and the waitress immediately looked at the paper on her hand.
"Good evening, Mr. Harris, your table is this way, sir." She said and led us to the front table. Wow, he really didn't disappoint. He reserved the center and front table.
"Enjoy the night, Ma'am and Sir, anyway, can I get you anything?" She said.
"A bottle of red wine would be nice, Miss.," Wade said.
I shook my head and turned to the girl.
"Actually Miss, forget the wine. Please bring us some vodka and fruit juices as well." I said. The waitress nodded and turned her back on us.
"Do you want us to get drunk tonight?" He said.
"No, I just want us to enjoy." I simply said. "And you said you needed a drink so I thought I might just get it for you."
"Very well then," He said.
We sat at the table and even with the loud music I heard the women around us giggle and looked at Wade. He's a real head-turner, no doubt about that. I looked at the women and they stopped when they noticed I was looking at them. Sorry girls, this man is mine for the time being. Wait? What is happening to me? Am I upset that women are drooling over him? Or am I jealous? I shook my head and let go of those thoughts. Whatever it is, I have no right. We were just married on paper and not in real life. We're just pretending until we're sure that my life isn't in danger anymore. Speaking of, I haven't asked him about Mr. Yakumo yet but seeing that he didn't talk about him, maybe he's still after me. But why am I afraid to ask him? Am I scared of the fact that all of these will be over once that old man stopped bugging my life? Do I want this kind of set-up to stay forever? Those are the thoughts and questions that kept on coming to my mind and I couldn't find the answers to them.
"Hey, Cami," I heard Wade said and I snapped out of my thoughts.
"What?" I said when I turned to him.
"Are you alright?" He said.
"Yeah, yes, why?" I said. "I'm sorry I just thought of something. What was it?"
"I said, if you want to dance you can, I'll be watching over you." He said.
"No, I'll stay here for now," I said.
"If that's what you want," He said.
"Here are your orders Ma'am," The waitress said. "Do you need anything else?"
"No, we're good," I said. "Thank you."
Wade gave me a glass and we raised our glasses and emptied them. I told him to refill our glasses with the vodka bottle and he did. We drunk again. We were laughing and talking when the music switched to a sweet one. I saw people especially the couples getting ready to dance and I can't help but feel happy for them.
"May I have this dance?" Wade said. He was standing and offering his hand for me. I didn't notice him getting up but this is so romantic. I smiled at him and nodded.
