Chapter 113: Chapter 113
Heartman walked out of the cell and out of the dungeon. He headed towards the room where Mia and Nathalie were receiving treatment in the pack house.
"Nathalie, there's something you need to know," Heartman began, and Mia was about to stand up and leave them to talk when Heartman stopped her.
"You need to hear this, Mia. It's about your husband, Alex. He isn't dead; he has been possessed by a demon," Heartman paused, observing Mia's response before continuing.
"He's in the forest, going through the sacrifice to awaken the demon within him," Heartman concluded.
Nathalie started crying as she heard what Heartman said. "Isn't there a solution to stop it, Heartman? We can't allow the demon to be awake; it'll destroy innocent lives," Nathalie complained.
"We'll have to look for the person that possesses the Mundara powers, and searching for that now isn't something that can be done in a few minutes," Heartman said sadly.
"I already know about the demon within Alex, and I'm the one you seek; I possess the Mundara powers," Mia told Heartman, who was shocked to hear what she said.
Mia explained and narrated everything that happened and what led to her mother's death. Both Heartman and Nathalie were shocked about the information they just received.
Alex found himself engulfed in a haunting turmoil. Flashbacks and memories from his former life began to resurface, shattering the fragile peace he had tried so hard to maintain. Each fragment surged through his mind like a torrential storm, leaving confusion and fear in its wake.
Taken into happier times with Mia, their smiles capturing a moment frozen in time. But beneath the surface of that captured bliss lay a labyrinth of forgotten memories and a haunting truth that threatened to shatter his fragile existence.
Ever since the incident of awakening the demon, Alex had been grappling with a darkness that seemed to coil around his very soul. He could feel it lurking within, a demon's presence clawing at the edges of his consciousness. Taking control over him every time it wants. And when he wasn't under the demon's control, Mia took over his night and dreams.
And now, as days turned into nights and nights into sleepless torment, memories from his former life with Mia began to resurface, unbidden and unwelcome.
It started with fragments, mere flashes of images that would appear and vanish like ghosts in the night. A glimpse of a candlelit dinner, the scent of Mia's favorite perfume, the warmth of her touch. But as the days went by, those fragments grew more vivid, intertwining with his waking hours and haunting his dreams.
One evening, as he sat alone in the altar for the demon sacrifice, a floodgate of memories burst open, drowning him in a sea of confusion and fear. He saw himself and Mia walking hand in hand through a sunlit park, laughter echoing around them. But then, the scene morphed into something else entirely. Darkness descended, the sky turning a sickly shade of crimson, and Mia's smile twisted into a look of terror.
The demon's presence surged within him, stirring the dormant power that lay within his veins. Its malevolent whispers filled his mind, taunting him, tempting him to embrace the darkness. Alex clutched his head, desperately trying to block out the onslaught, but it was a battle he seemed destined to lose.
His dual nature became an ever-present torment. He found himself torn between the memories of a life he cherished and the reality of the darkness that threatened to consume him. The demon's whispers grew louder, urging him to surrender, to give in to his true nature. But in the depths of his being, a flicker of resistance burned, a small flame of hope that refused to be extinguished.
Determined to unravel what was behind his memories, Alex tried acting along, and when the demon is no longer in control, he asks Hendrix questions about the demon's past and Alex's past, trying to know secrets of everything. But the more he delved into his past, the more his confusion deepened. Fragments of conversations and cryptic messages hinted at a hidden truth, a truth that might worsen the demon's presence within him.
Piecing together the fragments of a shattered past. And as the puzzle slowly took shape, Alex began to understand the magnitude of the forces at play. He had been chosen, a vessel for something ancient and terrifying, and his memories with Mia were both a gift and a curse, a reminder of what he had lost and what he might yet become.
He can choose the gift and try fighting the demon from the inside so it'll be easier to defeat him or choose the curse and lose himself so the demon can take over him quickly. This was the demon's plan and little cunning game he played with Alex's mind so he can choose to be calm so the memories will torture Alex badly and break him.
With each revelation, his fear transformed into determination. No longer would he be a pawn in the demon's game. He would face the darkness within, confront his dual nature head-on, and find a way to reclaim his life. For within the labyrinth of his haunted memories, he sensed a glimmer of hope, a path to redemption that he would follow, no matter the cost.
Alex made a promise to himself not to give up to the demon if he wants to see Mia again in one piece. The demon didn't know Alex had seen past his cunning games.
