Chapter 75: Chapter 75

The following day, Gary brought along his car to take Jessica, the twins, and her mother home. Her mother requested for them to branch by the mart so that she could pick up a few vegetables that Jessica would need.

When they got home, Angie was not home. Jessica and her mom got in with the help of Gary.

"So uh, I guess you will be fine then?" Gary asked after helping them set up the crib for the twins in the sitting room, and another in the bedroom.

"Yeah. Thank you so much, Gary."

Gary nodded and left the house. Jessica sat down on the sofa with soft pillows around her. She knew her mother had been waiting for the right opportunity to spoil her, and it just came up now that she had put to birth.

"Jessy, I'm going to make you a nice soup. It will help ease the injuries you might have sustained during birth." Her mother said before entering the kitchen.

Jessica simply smiled. She remembered Angie wasn't around so she decided to phone her.

"Angie..." she whined.

"Babe, I'm sorry. I had something very important to attend to. I'll be home soon."

"What's up? You sound on edge?"

"Yeah, I... uhm. I thought I sighted someone that looks like Chris. So, I waved it off initially. But then I saw his car, and I decided to follow it. It stopped in front of an unknown building, and he got out and went into the house."

"Okay, so?"

"Jess, I want to find out what he's doing here?"

"Why? Didn't he tell you already?"

"Jess!" Angie groaned. "Did you lose your memory in the theater?!"

Jessica chuckled. "No, but please fill me in on it again."

"Jess!" Angie whined.

"Sorry, sorry." Jessica apologized.

"He didn't ever tell me he was in town. We spoke last three days ago, and at that time, he said he was still away." Angie explained.

"Maybe he only came back and is about to surprise you." Jessica shrugged.

"No. I spotted this car last week in the same yard. Jess, I'm going in."

"Okay, girl. I hope it goes well."

"Yeah. Me too."

"Be safe. Call me whatever happens, okay?" Jessica warned lightly.

"Yes, mom." Angie teased. The two girls laughed it off. Angie ended the call. She went into the house. The lights were off. The place was a little warm. She walked down the first corner. It was the kitchen. The second was what seemed to be a guest room. When she turned again, there were stairs.

Angie climbed the stairs slowly and carefully, in order not to make any noise. The closer she got to the top, the louder the muffled sound became clearer. Angie paused to listen closely. Denying whatever was coming into her mind, she resumed her climbing.

When she got to the top, she was faced with the door to a room that was slightly ajar. So that was where the noise was coming from?

"It could just be a movie." She told herself. When she moved closer, the sounds became more audible. She pushed the door a little and it went wide open. There before her was a live porn scene. Her boyfriend was being ridden by another woman. The both of them were oblivious to her presence.

Angie choked on her tears. She watched them have their fill of each other. When they were done, she relaxed on the doorframe, with folded hands. Her eyes were bloodshot red and she glared murderously.

The lady turned by chance and saw her there. She let out a scream as she covered her body with the bedsheet.

Chris was at a loss for words. He didn't know where to start explaining. She had witnessed the entire scene. And firstly, he wasn't supposed to be here at all!

"Angie-"

"Don't. Call. My. Name." Angie growled. "You dare to do this to me? After all the years, I waited for you! I cared for you, I loved you, Chris." She began to sob.

"Worse enough you return without telling me.. oh but of course, how could you tell me? You didn't come back for me. You came back to meet your slut."

"Hey, watch your mouth." The girl snapped back. "How was I supposed to know he had a girl?"

"Oh? You didn't even tell her. So, you already left me in your head and were just putting up with me. Alright then, since you can't be faithful. It's over. We're done. I'm done!"

"Angie, Angie! Babe.." Chris sprang up. He quickly dressed to follow her. Angie wasn't taking any of it. She didn't want to see him. She jumped into the first vehicle she found, calling her address. The man drove off quickly. Chris stood outside, staring at the disappearing vehicle. He pulled at his hair in frustration.

Angie returned home. She made her way straight to her room. Jessica was there, placing the children's stuff in the closet.

"Angie. You're back. How did it go?"

"Unbelievably," Angie muttered. She allowed herself to fall to the bed. Jessica was at her side immediately. She noticed the girl's eyes were wet with unshed tears, and the moment she hugged her, the tears began to fall freely.

Angie cried her heart out, she refused to be controlled.

"Six years Jessica. Six years went out through the drain, just like that. A relationship I prided on. Six years meant nothing to Chris!" Angie cried. "Chris had been cheating on me." She choked.

Jessica's heart became heavy as well. "It's alright, Angie. Don't cry over him, he doesn't deserve it. Chris is a stupid fellow. It's his loss, okay?"

But no matter what Jessica said, Angie still kept on crying. Jessica stayed with her, hugging her, and muttering comforting words to her. After a long while, Angie finally quietened. She had cried herself to sleep. Jessica sighed. Men were always untrustworthy.
