Chapter 46: Chapter 46

On Monday morning, Jessica arrived at the company early. Immediately she got out of her car, she sighted Edwin and she was eager to greet him. Taking her bag, she walked toward him with a smile on her face.

" Good morning sir," Jessica said with a smile.

" Morning," Edwin replied, with a cold face and a lace of aggression in his tone as he walked toward the elevator without giving Jessica a single glance.

Seeing his expression, Jessica remained in the same place for a minute before she finally shook it off. She took a deep breath before taking a step forward.

" What happened to him this morning? Is he okay?" Jessica asked as she tilted her head with a furrowed brow.

She shook those thoughts away making her way toward the elevator. After pressing the button, she entered. As soon as she got off the elevator stopped, she walked to her office and sat down quietly as she set her bag down.

"Maybe, he is in a bad mood. Let me just focus on my work," she murmured to herself.

She turned on the laptop and browsed through it to see any outstanding work she could complete. Checking through the document one after the other, Jessica's intercom rang and she picked it up.

"Hello sir, I was a_"

" Check your email," Edwin interrupted her and he hung up immediately.

Jessica dropped the intercom with a frown on her face. She logged into her email to check what was sent to her by Edwin and she started working on them immediately.

After one hour, she was done with one of them and sent it to him via email for review before printing a copy.

Edwin replied to her email and the response was not what Jessica could expect.

" Not up to the company standard?" Jessica voiced with wide eyes while reading the reply.

She checked the document again and readjusts it, making sure to check for the smallest error and she forwarded the document again to Edwin.

After an hour of waiting for his reply, the work got rejected again. She tried to beat down the anger threatening to burst out. She forced out a smile as she tried to make herself happy.

Jessica redo the work again and again and the only reply she got from Edwin was to readjust the document.

" What will I readjust again?" Jessica murmured as she put both palms on her forehead, with wide eyes staring at her laptop. Was he intentionally picking on her?

She was brought to the present when her phone rang, displaying Misha's name, and she picked the call immediately.

" Babe, why don't you come for lunch, are you that busy," Misha asked with narrow eyes.

" Hmmm, I have been busy working on a document since and my boss has been rejecting it more than a dozen times already. I think he is in a bad mood. Because I don't know what I did wrong," Jessica said silently as she covered her eyes with one hand.

" That doesn't mean you should skip lunch. I will get you some snacks and I will be right there,'' Misha responded.

" Thank you, babe," Jessica said, smiling. She still hasn't forgotten what happened to her the last time she skipped her meals. She doesn't want to face that again.

She hung up the call and continued staring at the laptop. She started working all over it again. This time she tried to be more meticulous, taking into cognizance most of the details.

"Hey girl! Here is your snack and a bottle of juice. I have told you that you should never starve yourself," Misha answered, walking into Jessica's office.

"Thanks, Misha. You are truly a friend indeed. I owe you one. I have been too busy though," Jessica said, smiling.

"It's not a problem. Let's meet up after work, so you will take me with you to your house," Misha said, smiling while her eyes were fixed on Edwin's office.

After a while, she turned around and left so that Jessica could finish her work.

Thinking about what to do, Jessica finalized the document but didn't send it to Edwin immediately instead, she started working on another document.

When she noticed it was almost closing time, Jessica sent the project and forwarded it to her boss with a note which said,"Please cross-check very well before commenting, thanks for your kind word"

She clasped her hands in prayer as she wished Edwin would accept the new document.

Edwin, who was enjoying how he was frustrating her, saw a new message from Jessica after waiting for quite a long time. He immediately opened it and was about to type to redo it again when he saw her small note.

Edwin smiled to himself as he looked at the door, after checking the document, he decided to free her for today.

" I will make sure to stress to you throughout this week that you won't have time to go clubbing on Friday night," Edwin said to himself smiling

After thirty minutes, he replied to Jessica and asked her to print the document and bring the hard copy to his office.

There was a knock on his door after five minutes and he ushered her in. She was looking like a scared rabbit.

"Sir, this is the copy," Jessica said, as she dropped the copy on Edwin's table, massaging her temples.

" Okay," Edwin responded, as he focused his eyes on the laptop.

Edwin raised his head and he picked up the document to review it, feeling satisfied with what he read, he dropped it on the table.

" You can go, " Edwin said, avoiding Jessica's eye contact.

Jessica and Edwin's situation continued like this till Friday and Jessica have not been feeling well. She has to do a document more than ten times and has to wait for over thirty minutes standing waiting for her boss to review the document.

Arriving at the office on Friday, she came down from her car with a droopy body. Misha sighted her and ran to her to embrace her.

"Babes, you are not looking too well, you skipped lunch a lot this week," Misha said, with a worried tone.

" Hmmm, I will be fine, I don't know why my boss was grumpy all of a sudden. Do you think I should talk to him about it?" Jessica suggested.

" No, I don't think that's a good idea, just let's see how things turn out next week," Misha said, as they both worked on the elevator.

On getting out of the elevator, they each went to various offices.

Misha was enjoying how Edwin had been working her out. He knew Edwin was mad about the fact that he saw her with another man at the club but she didn't bother to tell Jessica about it.

" I think I should use this opportunity for myself so I can send her away at once," Misha thought to herself, steepling her fingers.

During lunch, she decided to have one or two conversations with James. She saw the way has been talking about her dressing after the club and how hot her body was.

" Jessica is not here again," James said with narrow eyes.

" Do you miss her so much?" Misha said, winking at him.

" Don't you dare deny it. I saw the way you were over her at the club, checking out her curves," Misha voiced with a smile.

" You can't-s-ay that…" James stuttered.

" Why not have her over this weekend? Maybe you can talk things out with her," Misha told him, hiding a wicked smile.

"That's a good idea, I just want to feel her body, you know," James smiled, licking his lips.

" Just be smart about it, I will help you out a little," Misha chuckled.

Jessica was working on the last document for the week when her intercom suddenly rang and she picked it up.

"Hello sir," Jessica said with a calm tone.

" I sent three documents to you, work on them fast," Edwin said authoritatively.

" Okay sir," Jessica replied with darting eyes.

Dropping the intercom, Jessica stared at Edwin's office door. She wishes to go there to talk things out with him but her friend suggested she wait till next week.

Clicking on her mouse, she opened the document and started working on it. She was so engrossed that she didn't bother checking her time.

She raised her head when she saw Edwin's office open, walking out with his bag with him.

" Are you planning to sleep at the office? " Edwin said, looking at Jessica.

Jessica checked her watch and was taken aback when she saw it was already 7:30 pm.

"Oh my God," Jessica shouted, covering her mouth with her hand.

" You can take it home and work on it over the weekend, I will call you to get it," Edwin said in a calm voice, as he walked out of the office.

Jessica started packing her bag, and she walked out of the office.
