Chapter 37: Chapter 37

The following morning, Jessica and Edwin flew back to California. They were maintaining a boss and an employee relationship. Although she was feeling pain, she hid it from him and rather focused on working. Edwin just shut his eyes and

Throughout the flight, she was busy checking out the assessment for the new job her friend Angie recommended her for. Her eyes were fixed on the laptop without looking at her boss. It was time to search for another job so she would get away from someone like Edwin.

She kept asking herself questions as she typed away in silent anger. How could he do that when she was still with him? Even if she was just his secretary, shouldn't he at least take her to a hotel?

He did not only sleep with girls in the office, he also does it in a club? What sort of boss would he be if he can't even control his manhood!

Sighing softly, she decided to message her friend, Misha, to pick her up at the airport to avoid being in the car alone with Edwin. She just can't face him.

One of the reasons was that, apart from her disgust over his behavior, she also hated herself for feeling unhappy about it. It shouldn't have anything to do with her feelings, right? But why was she feeling pained and… betrayed?

She needed to stay away from him for now so she had composed her emotions. Closing her laptop, she decided to take a short nap before they got to the city.

Some minutes later, the pilot announced their arrival and Jessica's eyes flew open. Actually, she wasn't sleeping. She just couldn't sleep.

Immediately the plane touched down, Edwin's driver was already waiting for him. Jessica got out of the plane with her luggage and walked side by side with Edwin until they got to where his car was parked.

Edwin squinted his eyes when he saw that there was another car parked some distance away from his own. He sighted Misha beside the car, but he never thought she was waiting for Jessica. He thought she just came to the airport to meet someone since Jessica didn't tell her about their flight. Or did she?

Edwin entered the car with the door open, waiting for Jessica to enter. But after a minute of waiting, he brought out his head only to see Jessica running towards Misha!

He wouldn't have minded if it was just Misha but seeing the face that got him riled up some days ago, his anger seemed to be flaring. What the fuck was that guy doing here? He thought angrily, clenching his fist.

He watched as Jessica rushed to Misha and James. She gave Misha a hug and turned around to give James a hug too, eliciting anger from Edwin.

Oblivious to the bomb that was ticking behind them, Jessica and her friends both entered the car and James drove off.

Edwin bit his lower lips so hard that it almost bled and in a fit of rage, he slammed the car door ordering his driver to drive away.

"Did you enjoy your time? I saw you were having fun," Misha asked, looking at the tired looking Jessica.

"Fun? What fun could I possibly have with a boss like Edwin Turner?" Jessica asked, rolling her eyes.

"Lots of fun. He is the boss, after all. Besides, you look hot! Don't tell me he never made any surprising advances at you?" Misha asked, poking her cheek.

"Oh, please! Misha, could you just let her rest? And why would he make passes at her? Does Jessica look that cheap to you?" James said, a little anxious.

"James, why are you sounding anxious? If you like…"

" Misha! Please, show me the direction to Jessica's house so we won't get lost!" James cut her off, giving her a knowing glare.

After about an hour of driving, James stopped at the front of Jessica's home." We are here, Jessica"

"Thanks Misha, thanks James. I would have loved to invite you in but I am damn tired today but I promise to treat you guys to lunch," Jessica said, getting out of the car.

"Instead of lunch in the office, why not treat us to lunch at home during the weekend?" Misha suggested, grinning.

Jessica agreed instantly. She knew how much Misha wanted to taste her mom's cooking and her mother had also told her to bring Misha home. It would just be an opportunity to thank her properly.

"Alright, then. I will be taking lots of purgatives so I can have enough space to eat all the food without James touching any!" Misha said, chuckling.

" No taking of purgatives. You can always take the remaining home. It's not advisable to use drugs without permission!

Jessica watched as they drove away and she entered the house. She was happy to see her parents with her siblings again. She dropped her bag while she hugged them all, kissing her siblings on their cheeks.

“When have I seen you both last?” Jessica said as she dragged her twin siblings with her on the couch.

“ You are always busy nowadays sis, you hardly have our time anymore,” Tristan lamented, his cute eyes displaying sadness.

“ I am sorry, I will create time for you two,” Jessica explained, as she tickled Tristan and Kristen. The twins began laughing and jumping on her. Seeing her family had removed every fatigue from her body.

“ How was the business trip, “Jessica's father asked, leaning forward. He was just smiling at his daughter.

“ My boss got the contract. At first, we would have missed it but thank goodness that I am an expert hacker! I was able to help him,“ Jessica said smiling.

“ Hmm, I am happy you were able to help. There are many foxes who aren't happy with your progress,” Mr. Graves said, looking sad.

Jessica moved closer to her dad, putting her head on his shoulder.

“Dad, you don't have to be sad, I know one day, the truth will out. Please don't think about anything,” Jessica said, as she looked up through her lashes.

Mrs. Graves saw both father and daughter being emotional. She didn't want her husband to think of anything right now because of his health condition. He was just getting better, so she quickly changed the topic.

“ Hey Jessy, go drop your bag inside and come assist me in the kitchen. It's been long before you enter that kitchen.”

"Sweetheart, how can you tell her to enter the kitchen? She must be very tired," her father insisted.

"Tired? But she has the energy to jump around with the twins. No one wants to help me!" Her mother lamented, looking sad.

" Dad, I am not tired. In fact, I miss helping mom in the kitchen. Let me go and drop my bag. Once I finish freshening up, I will come and help you mom," Jessica said, smiling.

Jessica stood up and she picked up her bag but the bag was dragged away by her sibling while they all went to her room together.

Getting to her room, she quickly changed into other clothes while Kristen was going through her bag.

“ Oh my God! Jessy, where do you get this gown from?” Kristen exclaimed, displaying the black gown for Tristan to see with wide eyes.

Jessica smiled looking at her expressing, “ It was a gift from my boss, I didn't go with any outing clothes so he got me that for the dinner party.” Jessica explained to them before they started having different images on their heads.

“ This is so hot, can I try it, Jessy?” Kristen said, making puppy eyes.

“It's not even your size, why will you try something that can not size you?” Jessica said with a wink.

“ Oh I wanna grow up faster, I can't wait to wear this type of clothes Jessy, they are nice,” Kristen beamed.

“ Wait for your time baby girl. Alright, go assist mama before she starts calling. I will be right there, “ Jessica said, and the twins walked out of the room.
