Chapter 105: Chapter 105
"Thank you so much, mom!" Abby said again. "Mommy, I'm hungry."
Angela laughed at her. "Yet you refused to eat just because you wanted to see your dad."
Abby stuck out her tongue. Jessica sighed and left them there. She went to make food for them but actually, but left because she was overwhelmed by emotions.
Angela teased the twins a little while longer, then she sensed Jessica's mood, so she went to try and placate her friend.
Abby and Gabby did a silent high five. Gabby called his father to inform him of the success of their mission. Edwin applauded them and promised to treat them to ice cream later on.
Edwin was in his house, waiting for their call of approval for him to come. He had taken his shower and prepared everything. He was quite excited to meet his kids again. The little time he spent with them was wonderful even for him too.
When his phone rang, he expected to see Gabby, he was instead shocked to find that it was Jessica calling instead. Was she about to scold him? Those were his thoughts.
Never would he have imagined she would call to tell him to come and pick up the kids because they wanted to see him.
The speed with which he raced into his car and out to the road was enough to show his excitement.
In less than thirty minutes, he arrived at the house. Angela was surprised to find him standing at the door when she went to open it.
"Hi." He greeted her with a charming smile. Angela chuckled darkly at his expression. "You came pretty quickly."
"Yeah, I'm just too happy to see the kids." He replied. Angela nodded and opened the door wide for him to come in. Edwin got into the house.
" You can take your seat," Angela said. He sat down, waiting for them to show up. After that, Angela didn't say anything else to him. But when she saw him check his watch over and over again, she chuckled.
"She's preparing them." That was a very brief explanation as to why neither of the people he loved was seen. He nodded in understanding, then he relaxed on the couch.
Not long after, the kids showed up with Jessica behind them.
"Dad!" Gabby called.
"Daddy!" Abby called.
The kids ran to meet him. Edwin was up in an instant, and before they got to him, he crouched down to their level so they could hug him. The sight was emotional for Jessica. Angela watched with amusement. She glanced at Jessica from the corner of her eyes.
Edwin and the kids said their goodbyes to Jessica and Angela, and then they followed Edwin into the car.
Edwin drove off to his family house. It was a huge mansion and the kids were awed. They stuck close to Edwin because of how big and unfamiliar the place was.
Edwin took them into the house. His mother was seated on the couch, sipping her tea and watching a movie on TV.
She turned to see Edwin coming in with two kids on his either side. A boy that was a carbon copy of him, save for the eye, and a girl that was everything he was, including the eyes. She gasped loudly.
"My my. Look at these pretty things!" She exclaimed. "Look how beautiful they are."
Edwin felt all the more proud of that.
"Oh my, oh my!" She kept chanting.
"Daddy, who is she?" Gabby asked boldly. He kept staring at the woman who was gushing over them but was careful not to touch them.
"She's my mother. That makes her-"
"Grandma?" Abby completed. "We have met one grandma and grandpa." She tilted her head after speaking as if she was trying to understand the science behind it.
"Well, one can always have two grandmas and two grandpas," Edwin explained. They nodded and went forward to greet his mother. She was so happy to have them around her.
"What about their mother?"
"Well, I wish to marry her," Edwin said, not minding the presence of the kids. "I want to marry their mother, and make them have a complete family."
His mother nodded. "What about the Reid family then? I don't know what that old man would do if he found out we were canceling the engagement."
Edwin shrugged. "Whatever he's going to do, mom. We don't care. We only have to be ready to beat him at his own game. I have made my choice, and it's the happiness of my kids."
She nodded. "Well, whatever you want to do."
She would agree to his requests because he had given her two very beautiful grandchildren! Of the two genders too! She hugged them closer again.
After spending time with Edwin's mom, Edwin took them back. On the way home, they reminded him of their ice cream treat so he stopped by a small cafe and ordered them mini sized ice creams. The kids accepted it happily and relaxed in the car for the rest of the journey home.
By the time they got home, Jessica was quite worried because it was already late evening. The kids were quite sleepy as well. Edwin carried both of them into the house. Jessica watched him carry them. She pointed to him where to drop them. Both of them were laid in Gabby's room.
He turned to go, but Abby held him back.
"Don't go daddy." She begged. "Read us a bedtime story."
Jessica was surprised. She stood by the corner, watching the drama unfold.
"Well since you're awake, let's go and shower. Shall we?" Jessica took them and bathed them while Edwin took out a nice story book. After showering and changing into their pajamas, Edwin read them the story. He stayed until they fell asleep.
Jessica stood by, watching them. This was her dream all along, to have a perfect family. And seeing Edwin reading bedtime stories to their kids made her very emotional.
