Chapter 100: Chapter 100
Edwin was sitting in his room very early Monday morning, enjoying the warmth of his bed.
His mind went to how quickly the malware had been deactivated. But it had taken the man a long time to track the doer of the evil. At a point, his confidence in the man began to break. Perhaps he wasn't as expert as everyone said.
Sitting up in his bed, he opened his laptop and turned it on. He checked the security system of the company once again. The man had made it even tighter and every login access had to be granted by him first before they could be let in. It was a wonderful thing.
His phone began to ring, breaking his comfortable silence. He answered the call almost immediately.
"Good morning sir."
"Good morning Mr. Hacker. I'm surprised you rang, it's so early in the morning, I'm yet to leave the bed." He said, getting up from the bed completely.
"Sir, I have found the culprit. I will be sending the links for the location to your official email."
"Huh? Send it to my personal email instead." Edwin said. "I'll text you my personal email address."
"I could just text it to you too. You can click on the link and have the location opened on your map."
"That's better," Edwin replied. "I'm expecting."
After dropping the call, Edwin couldn't enjoy his bed anymore. He decided to shower. If he had found the culprit, he might as well pay them a special visit.
After taking off his clothes and tying a towel, his phone beeped with a new message. He found the link there. He connected his phone to his laptop and opened the link there. Once he set it to find the location, it began to load. It was going to take about fifteen minutes to load.
"Well, I could use some time in the shower too." He said. He got into the shower, a little too eager to find his culprit. He was going to make them crumble. They would definitely regret touching Turner Group.
He was still rinsing his body when he heard his laptop ding. Quickly, he came out and dried his body. The location was found and it looked like it was in the city.
"I bet you didn't think I could find you." He muttered. Entering his closet, he grabbed the first set of clothes he found.
Then he dressed quickly. It was about a few minutes to seven am. The culprit would definitely be very surprised to see him there.
Once he got into his car, he typed in the address given to him, and the GPS began to give directions. He followed the direction till he stopped at the house. Confused but curious, he got out and went straight to the house. He expected something less elegant, or at least more computer based. The house just looked like it belonged to a middle class family. The owner must be new because he knew the house had been up for sale for quite a long time.
On reaching the door, he didn't knock. He simply opened the door and got into the house.
Angie was inside her room, preparing for work. The kids had just finished eating. They were waiting for Jessica who was packing their lunch boxes in the kitchen. Abby was standing close to the door while Gabby sat on the couch, watching the early morning cartoon. So once Edwin entered, she knew someone had entered.
Abby noticed the stranger who entered the house. She walked over to meet him. Edwin was struck by the resemblance he shared with the little girl standing before him. What was going on? Who was this child? What did she have to do with the malware? Why did the link lead him here too?
"Dad? Is that you?" The child asked softly. Edwin turned to see if anyone was behind him. Nope, it was just him. Was she calling him dad? Did he have a daughter? Then he noticed the other boy who also seemed to turn his attention toward him as well.
"Dad! It is you! Oh, Gabby look. Look!" Her voice was full of excitement. She couldn't contain her joy, she was clapping and jumping almost in glee.
Gabby turned to the source of her attraction. He was also surprised to find Edwin standing there. He didn't show his excitement as Abby did. It was more of him trying to be a man.
Edwin looked from child to child. They looked familiar, hell they looked like him.
He was surprised, in a very pleasant way. But what surprised him the most was Jessica showing up from the kitchen with lunch boxes in her hands. She didn't notice him initially.
"Guys, here's your lunch boxes. I don't know why Levi isn't here yet."
"Mom, look! It's dad." Abby said again. Jessica turned so fast, only to find Edwin standing awkwardly. What was he doing here? How did he find her? Did Roy tell him? That leaky mouth!
Angela had heard Abby shout "dad", so she was out in an instant. Seeing Edwin there, she understood the situation of things.
She walked behind Jessica, slowly removing the lunch boxes from her hand. Once she got hold of them, she grabbed the kids and took them out of the house. Levi hadn't come yet. So, she took a cab to their school.
The house was silent, and empty, save for a stunned Jessica and a disbelieving Edwin. So he had kids? And Jessica didn't tell him? What did he do to deserve such treatment from her?
Jessica and Edwin stood, staring at each other. No one was saying anything. Both had their thoughts, they had someone to blame for the very awkward meeting.
Edwin was struck with why the link led him to her house. Was she responsible for the attack? If so, why did she do it? What exactly was her reason for not including him in the wellbeing of their kids?
