CHAPTER 41- WHERE THE DEVIL FOUND LOVE

THIRD PERSON POV

"What do we do now?" Sam, who's holding a crying Adonis asks

"There's only one thing to do" Lucifer sighs

"Which is?" Lilith asks

"I have to go back to the place I found love" he responds

"Go where?" everyone questions at the same time

"The note says and I quote"

"The place you first fell in love? What and where is that? Dominic asks

"If I were to guess, it would be the place you met Olivia right? Sam says

"Yes" Lucifer replies

"Lucifer if that's where they have Cat we need to hurry," leviathan urges

"Yes I know, and sorry Levi but you're not coming none of you are"

What," Everyone exclaims at the same time

"Dad we're was coming with you" Dominic insists

"No Dominic, if it's who I think it is that took Cat then I have to go alone or he won't hesitate to kill her"

"You know who took her?"

"I suspect someone but I can't say for sure"

"Doesn't matter lucifer you can't expect us to just stay here and not do anything," Leviathan protests walking towards the door but is instantly thrown back by an invisible force

"You little-" he starts but Lucifer cuts him off with

"Sorry guys but I need you all here to protect hell. Besides I have to do this alone,"

He then steps out of the barrier he created around the room and into a portal to take him to his destination.

Knowing the barrier is set to disappear as soon as he leaves the underworld Lucifer heads out slightly chuckling at the fact that they'll be pissed at him when he returns.

"So, what's the plan?" Balthazar asks as soon as lucifer steps out of the portal sending him to earth

"It is quite simple first we find Cat then we kill everyone in that place" lucifer responds

"Marvelous" Balthazar replies with a sadistic grin

With a calming breath, Lucifer closes his eyes allowing his powers to flow through him as he shifts to his devil form. Afterward, he brought forth his scythe and teleported to the place he hasn't been in for over 16 years.

Lucifer appeared outside of a mansion that used to be a happy home. A few vampires and wolves were scanning the woods around the building as they stood guard; however , they would not be able to detect his hidden presence. Lucifer sent out his aura doing a check of his own to determine how many of his enemies were present and if Catalaya was present as well. When he felt the familiar aura and sensed no distress coming from her he relaxed a bit.

He scoped the area some more searching for something specific but couldn't find what he was looking for. He watched the house that once belonged to him and the love of his life a bit longer feeling a tad bit nostalgic before he shook it off, hid his presence, and stepped out of the trees.

It only took a second for the guards to notice his overwhelming presence, they tensed immediately in both shock and fear due to the thick and bloodthirsty nature of his aura. All the guards soon began to grab their throats as they choke on their blood, the liquid running from their mouths, eyes, ears, and noses.

He then advanced to the door kicking it down where he was met with more guards who failed before even trying to attack him for with the twitch of his wrist their necks had been snapped. As he went through every room of the house killing every enemy in sight he was quickly getting annoyed at the whole situation. he knew this was a trap that much had been obvious from the get-go he was just waiting on them to show themselves whoever they were.

Following the trail of Cat's aura, he found her easily chained, bound, and unconscious on the floor of what used to be his bedroom. Despite her disheveled hair, a few dirt marks, and scratches she seemed to be fine.

"Cat, Cat sweetheart wake up" lucifer urges shaking her gently

Cat stirred slightly then opened her eyes

"Dad?...... What... What happened?" She asks

"It's ok sweetie you're safe now" lucifer replies pulling her into a hug and as such missing the sly smile on Cat's face

Picking up his daughter, Lucifer turns to leave, urging her to rest and that he'd have her home soon. As he stepped out of the room he found catalaya he instantly paused by the sound of the last voice he ever expected to hear again in his entire immortal existence.

"Hello Lucifer," the voice says

Doing a full 360 lucifer looked in shock as the woman he lost 16 years ago stood before him in all her radiance.

"O... Olivia?" He stutters barely getting the words out

"Hello my love" Olivia smiles

"Wha... but how... y-you're dead" the devil mutters in utter shock

"I know, I was dead and now I'm not I don't know what happened but I'm here now isn't it wonderful" Olivia exclaims rushing to hug lucifer

"Wait, no something isn't right" Lucifers puts his arms out stopping her advance to him.

"What's wrong my love, aren't you happy to see me?" Olivia pouts

Snapping his fingers a couch appears beside Lucifer, he puts a barrier around Cat concealing her then gently places her on the couch.

"If you were Olivia I would be but you're not. Olivia is dead so whoever you are I suggest you revert to your true form so I can end your pathetic life" lucifer roars his anger rising at the fact that his enemy dared to use the image of the woman he loves against him

"It is me Lucifer, I'm telling the truth my love" Olivia insists

angrily Lucifer stretches his hand out, Olivia is immediately pulled in his reach where he grabs her by the neck and squeezes. She pleads and begs him to believe her but Lucifer knows better, Olivia is dead.

"i-if you don't believe me search me with your eyes" Olivia gasps out

Lucifer pauses, relieving the pressure on her neck. He was so angry the thought hadn't crossed his mind because he knew it wasn't Olivia but his eyes could tell him who this person was. Maybe he could even use whoever this is to find out who's behind all this mess. As his power surges through him, Lucifer's eyes change from an enchanting blue to blood red, he looks over at the woman whose throat he's currently squeezing and begins to assess her soul with his eyes. The moment he saw it, Lucifer choked on his gasp as he immediately released the woman from his death grip and faltered back a few steps.

With eyes wide open and shock coursing through his entire being Lucifer looks up at the woman in shock, he couldn't believe it, what he saw was impossible even in his world but yet here the impossible was happening right before him.

"Li-Livi?" he stutters

"hi" Olivia smiles at a speechless lucifer

"How did you get here? Why didn't I detect your presence" he questions

"I honestly don't know, I think I was brought here but am not sure"

"what's the last thing you remember"

"My memory is a bit foggy, I remember a woman she was talking to me but I don't remember what she said" Olivia replies trying to recall

"Maybe I can help" lucifer offers reaching his hand out

"No!" Olivia shouts taking a step back

"why what's wrong?" lucifer questions as that uneasy feeling came back

"I-It's nothing my love I'm just a bit jumpy," Olivia tells him

Lucifer searches her once more, his face blank as he looks her over. He then smiles at her, that charming smile that could get him into any woman's pants, and stretches his arm out beckoning her to him, Olivia hesitated a bit then she rushed to his arms.

"You have no idea how much I've missed you, my love," Lucifer tells her

"I never thought this day would ever come where I'd get to see you, where I'd get the chance to beg your forgiveness"

"Forgiveness?" Olivia looks up at him confused

"Yes. If I had been there to protect you that day if I hadn't left- oh Olivia I'm so sorry I wasn't there when you needed me the most. I failed you and our daughter"

"That's not true my love, I know you did your best"

"I should have been there"

"Just tell me this, is our daughter still alive"

"Yes, in fact, you could meet her right now" lucifer smiles

"How?" Olivia asks

Lucifer lifts the barrier from around Cat revealing her to Olivia's eyes.

"I-is that her" Olivia asks in disbelief

"That's our baby girl" lucifer smiles proudly

"She isn't hurt, is she unconscious?"

"No, she's just asleep, whoever brought you here kidnapped her. That's why I came here to get her back" lucifer replies as he fixed a strand of hair that fell in Cat's face

"She so beautiful" Olivia stands beside lucifer admiring their child

She then took a step closer and stretched an arm out to touch the child she lost so many years ago. However, the moment she went to touch Cat Olivia was immediately thrown back by an invisible force. Olivia crashed into the wall leaving a dent, as soon as she got up lucifer had his arms around her throat his dark aura filling up the room.

"L-lucifer?" Olivia cries

"Do you think I'd be stupid enough to be fooled by a simple soul stone?"

"I'll ask you only once, who are you and what do you want with me"

The air suddenly filled with laughter and the sound of clapping. As the sounds get closer Lucifer turns around to see yet another familiar face.

"Demiurge?"

"Hello your majesty" demiurge bow

"What is this some sort of weird reunion?" Lucifer exasperates at the second person from his past that is supposed to be dead

"I see now, so you're the one who kidnapped Cat, I thought I felt a familiar presence in her room and only a hellion could enter the underworld undetected"

"Ahh yes, your youngest spawn. You found her rather quickly but I guess that is to be expected from the great Lucifer himself"

"What is the reason for all this?"

"This was all orchestrated to bring you down lucifer, this is our revenge"

"Revenge for what?" Lucifer asks

"You're betrayal" demiurge simply puts

"You betrayed us 16 years ago when you chose that woman over us and now you will lose her once again as well as your spawn" he spat

"Old friend, what has become of you, how can your spirit be this vengeful?" Lucifer asks confused as to what demiurge has become

"You sent me to protect that human and when the time had come for you to protect me you chose her instead even in death I cannot forget this betrayal" demiurge roars

"I have awakened to exact revenge on behalf of all those you have betrayed lucifer morningstar"

"Come golem" demiurge calls pointing behind lucifer

To lucifer's surprise, Olivia walked from behind him and went to stand beside demiurge

"Inside this golem is the soul of the woman you love lucifer," demiurge tells him

"What you saw was no mere trick of a soul stone this is the real thing"

Suddenly it all came back to him and Lucifer wanted to kick himself for being so oblivious. Micheal had told him Olivia's soul was taken, and this made the devil very angry, yet as always lucifer never expresses his emotions.

"Why is your face so calm my Lord I can tell this deeply upsets you" demiurge grins sadistically

"Nevertheless, I have more to share,"

"Not only do I have the soul of your one true love trapped in a stone, this golem's body is beginning to deteriorate and your daughter is under a curse linked to this golem's life. Once the body deteriorates and there's nothing left to hold the stone sweet little catalaya will die"

As demiurge reveals this Olivia's arm starts to petrify and the same begins to occur on catalaya's arm as well signaling that the curse had been activated.

"What is it that you desire from me," lucifer asks demiurge knowing he needs to act quickly

"It's quite simple really" demiurge grins

"We need you to make a choice," he says in a sing-song voice

"Choice between what?" Lucifer questions as the petrification of catalaya's arm spread steadily

"Between hell and your family"

"All of hell is my family you know that more than anyone"

"Fine, I'll put it simply. Relinquish your rein over hell to us and in return, you can have Olivia's soul back and the curse lifted from catalaya"

"You'd have me hand over the home I have forged with my flames for centuries to you when I could simply destroy what is left of you and break this curse myself"

"Do not try to play the bluff on me sire" demiurge shouts

"You and I both know there are only two ways to break that curse, it can either be broken by the caster or destroy the tether that binds the spell. In other words, Olivia's soul"

Lucifer knows what demiurge boasts Is the truth, and if he didn't act with caution he'd lose not only his daughter but also the soul of his one true love. It wasn't as if he didn't know of another way to break the spell; he just didn't have the time that option required.

Nevertheless, Lucifer is a man who always has a plan and as such he decided it was time for the game to change in his favor.

"Tic tock sire time is running out" demiurge snaps lucifer from his thoughts pointing at the rapid spread of  the curse

"I have decided," Lucifer tells him with a defeated look on his face

"And?" Demiurge questions impatiently

"I will Relinquish my throne to you, but I tell you this if you dare to go back on your word you will regret it for the rest of eternity, vengeful spirit or not"

"I have no intention of going back on my word sire, now let's get on with it shall we"

"Yes" lucifer sighs

ripping his shirt off a tattoo of an ancient symbol could be seen on Lucifer's chest. Lucifer began chanting in an unknown tongue, the tattoo began to glow and his true form presented itself, as his chanting increased dark energy began to flow from him and into the stone demiurge held in his hands changing it from its cloudy white color to pitch black. it wasn't long after, the words demiurge wanted to hear left lucifer's lips

"I lucifer morningstar relinquish my throne and authority over the underworld freeing them from my rein"

He stumbled a bit as the words left his mouth leaving an extremely bitter taste behind. Demiurge's sadistic yet triumphant grin adorned his face as he watched in anticipation.

"I have done as you've asked now release them" lucifer demands as soon as he finished chanting

"As you wish" demiurge grins

Turning to the golem hosting Olivia's soul demiurge plunges his hand into its chest ripping out yet another soul stone and hands it to lucifer

"inside this soul, stone resides Olivia's soul, it had to be contained and this was the only way"

"what you saw earlier when you looked at the golem was no mere trick, I just clouded your vision so you couldn't tell the difference between her and the golem but of course you being you saw right through it" demiurge shrugs

Carefully taking the soul stone from demiurge's hand lucifer uses his demon eyes to check the soul stone to make sure demiurge hadn't lied. seeing he had told the truth Lucifer turned only to feel something pierce through his stomach.

his eyes followed the demonic blade protruding from his gut to find its wielder to be none other than his daughter. Lucifer exhumed a look of utter shock and belief when his eyes rested on the one who had stabbed him. his pained shocked expression gave his attacker utmost joy, she smiles wickedly and says

"Hello father"

"catalaya what is the meaning of this" lucifer asks looking at his daughter who had the evilest look her face could muster

"What does it look like I'm doing dad? I have decided you are no longer fit to rule hell and as such I will, isn't that right demiurge?" she responds

"but of course mistress" demiurge bows handing her the stone that had collected lucifer's dark energy

"is that really what you think catalaya," lucifer asks

"yes father, quite so, and with this to assist me I will do just that" catalaya replies smiling at the stone

Lucifer's pained expression morphed into a devilish grin as he says "you are very foolish catalaya or should I call you Meredith?"

Catalaya's grin immediately drops and is replaced by shock

The air became thick due to a sudden shift in the room and Lucifer's rage could be felt by all. With each threatening step he took towards her, Meredith took two steps back, Lucifer froze her in place and grabbed her by the neck.

"You honestly thought I wouldn't notice that you're not my daughter?" he asks in a calm but deathly voice

"How!? Meredith croaks

"it's quite simple really" lucifer shrugs

"First off i found Cat's body way too easy, second of all that golem who posed as olivia should not be able to point catalaya out if she truly was olivia and lastly the soul resonating in Cat's body is not one of a hellion but of a creature way pass her expiry date"

"Impossible I used the girl's demonic aura to shield myself!" meredith contests

"true, but the thing you failed to realize is that my children's demons were created from my own so balthazar felt the moment Catalaya and legacy were forced apart" lucifer replies

"it matters not lucifer you still surrendered your throne, and soon with the help of demiurge i will rule hell"

at this lucifer bellows a loud laugh though it sounded way more sinister than a laugh should

"well i can understand why you'd think that" lucifer says when his laughter subsided

"What do you mean?" meredith questions

"Foolish witch, hell was my father's punishment for me. Do you really think that if I gave up ruling hell there would be no consequences?"

"liar! i heard you chant the spell and i saw the mark disappear from your skin, i know of the legend you tried so hard to bury lucifer, why did you think i summoned you here of all places"

"ahh yes the legend" lucifer nods with a furlong look in his eyes as if remembering something

"Yes that legend, the one my father used to bring you to your knees 16 years ago"

"is that what you think happened" lucifer chuckles

"I know that is what happened. you used my father to remove that cursed mark from you then you killed him because he found out the actual truth"

"lucifer morningstar once known as the light bringer. you rose up to challenge your father and rebel against him but instead were defeated and casted out into the pits of hell but just before you were cast down your wings were removed and a mark depicting the seven cardinal sins was branded upon you. the only way to remove that mark was for you to truly love someone other than yourself and even though it took centuries you finally did and when my father removed the mark you killed him"

"You mean this mark?" lucifer asks ripping off his shirt and presented his back to meredith

"impossible" she gasps at the mark she spoke of still present on lucifer's back

"h-how?" she stutters

"Your filthy father did not offer me any help he wanted power no mortal should have that is why he betrayed olympus and killed so many innocent. he found out about the legend surrounding my mark and whilst i admit there is some truth to that story what they failed to tell you was that in order to remove my mark i had to sacrifice the one i love. and since i wouldn't do the ritual your father decided to use my wife's blood to obtain the power he craved. now you his stupid misguided child on some pathetic revenge streak dares to disrespect the soul of the woman i love, kidnap my child and disturb my oldest friends resting place. i think I've become too soft it's high time i showed you who i really am" lucifer says releasing his demonic aura

this shift in the atmosphere cause the winds to pick up the sky to blacken as if the night had come suddenly and the loud frequent cracks of lightening could be heard, at this point shock and terror rolled off meredith in waves.

"i will show you what happens to those who mess with my family"

he stepped close to the still frozen meredith and with a glowing hand reached inside her pulling her soul out of the body she wrongfully inhabited. catalaya's body fell gently into one of lucifer's arms and Meredith's soul in the other. his hand continues to glow until the light from it began ripping meredith's soul apart until there was nothing left of it.

as soon as meredith was gone demiurge fell to the ground and his body began to disappear

"goodbye old friend" lucifer says as demiurge disappears

Balthazar's voice echoes in lucifer's head as soon as he lifts catalaya's body in his arms

"Lucifer hurry catalaya is about to die!"
