Chapter 228: Chapter 228

The campfire crackled under a darken blanket of the Aurora skies, its amber glow casting shadows across the forest clearing.

The scent of roasted venison filled the air, rich and smoky, as fat dripped onto the flames with a satisfying hiss. Rex lounged against a log, his eyes glinting with mischief, his roguish grin illuminated by the fire.

He turned the spit, the meat sizzling, and cast a glance at the figure across from him.

They where multiple students to across both sides of him, and across from him, sitting on the log over from him to be precise.

Inside the cabin was warm, but due to the barrier around this places, the outside was cold yes, but not life-threatening cold, rather it was now cool and refreshing.

Moca sat on the other log over, her white hair shimmering like moonlight, her crimson eyes fixed on the flames with an intensity that could freeze blood.

It was clear that she was in deep thought.

And her now black leather outfit hugged her voluptuous frame, alot of the students like her where now out of their unfirom, but a good amount was still wearing theirs.

Rex looked at her with a blushing face. As his heart skip a beat with every breathe he takes, as a cold air leave his mouth forming mist cloud of breathe.

Still there was no better time to shoot his shot, than now.

As he test a peice of flesh off the pork over the flames.

He gestured to her, offering it as he held it by the bone. The flesh pointing towards her direction in this moment.

Moca’s eyes didn’t waver from the fire.

She scoffed, her voice cutting like a blade.

"If I wanted something charred and pedestrian, I would have hunted it myself."

She coldly said, dismissing him without a glance.

Rex chuckled, leaning back, unfazed.

"Oh, come on, you need to eat, those two pieces you are earlier can’t possibly had full you right."

He drawled, his tone warm and smooth.

"Besides, between me and you this serving is for us noble bunch. Given this isn’t just any meat. I seasoned it with my own special blend, crafted to impress even someone as... refined as you."

His eyes traced her jaw, lingering just a moment too long.

Her crimson gaze snapped to his, sharp and unyielding.

"Refined you day, pfftt... How laughable."

She said, her voice starting to become more threatening at this moment.

"You think your little campfire tricks could impress me? Don’t waste my time, Rex."

As the campfire’s glow seemed to dim as a sudden chill swept through the clearing, the air growing heavy with an unspoken tension. New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✦𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮✦𝓷𝓮𝓽

Thick enough to cut through.

Moca, poised to depart, but froze mid-step, her crimson eyes narrowing as she sensed a shift in the atmosphere.

The students, previously rowdy and carefree, fell silent, their gazes snapping toward the same point in the distance as she sense an extremely powerful entity approaching, it was familiar as she said.

She stop, thinking the chances of meeting that person here, given alot of the students where still loss on this planet.

Either way, a low murmur rippled through the group, their reckless chatter replaced by a collective unease.

Beyond the local barrier,.a shimmering veil of Energy Astrum that guarded their encampment, glowing golden nocturnal snake eyes pierced through the swirling blizzard outside.

The snow raged in thick, blinding sheets, but those eyes burned like twin lanterns, steady and unyielding, cutting through the storm with an eerie clarity.

"W-What the hell is that?!"

One student stammered, his voice trembling as he pointed toward the approaching figure.

"Hmmm, I think it’s a person."

Another boy ventured, squinting into the whiteout, but his words faltered as the form grew more distinct. The students breaths caught, their hearts pounding in unison as the silhouette sharpened against the blizzard’s chaos.

For some reason they where afraid of this thing.

Their instinct tell them to run or hide, yet they did not.

High above however, perched on a gnarled branch, Kael paused, his nimble fingers stilling on the daggers he had been idly twirling.

His sharp senses, honed by years of hellish training, prickled with the unmistakable surge of various Astrum types, energy Astrum being the most define he can sense since that his magic type, but just that alone be could sense an immense, inhuman, raw, potent, and overwhelming amount of it all sealed within a single point and coming his way.

His eyes narrowed, glinting with curiosity and caution. The barrier, imbued with his spell, was designed to repel any intruder without the proper mark, or rather his energy imprinted.

It would take a force of unimaginable power to breach it, yet this stranger approached with an effortless stride, as if the barrier were nothing more than a fleeting thought.

The figure stepped through, the invisible veil shattering like glass under his presence, though he seemed utterly unaware of the feat.

Clearly unaware that he has casually walked through a barrier to begin with. It was as if he had insane resistance to energy magic as a whole.

His cape billowed in the wind, a cascade of midnight fabric that danced with the storm.

Tall...well over six feet, his imposing frame towered over the clearing. His eyes, golden and nocturnal, gleamed against the stark contrast of his black sclera, giving him an otherworldly appearance, it didn’t help that he was extremely handsome too.

But those very eyes, they began to flickered with curiosity, but not for the stunned students or the flickering campfire. His gaze locked onto Moca, unwavering, as if the rest of the world had faded into insignificance.

At his side, a menacing sword hovered, its blade pulsing with a faint, arcane glow. It moved as if alive, tethered to him by an unseen force, its intricate engravings catching the firelight in a way that made it seem almost sentient.

But Kael notice something the heat from the fire was being absorb, until the fore suddenly went out, but the natrual light from the blade made him visible to the students.

This alone made Kael’s attention snapped to the weapon, his daggers forgotten.

He murmured, his voice full with greed alongside awe.

Never in his life had he seen a blade of such caliber, its craftsmanship was beyond mortal hands, its power palpable even from a distance.

His fingers twitched, the thief in him itching to claim it, but reason held him back. This was no ordinary man.

Rumor of his reputation beseech him after all. Tales of a figure whose exploits had been broadcast on live feeds, glimpses of power that bordered on the inhuman. Kael’s jaw tightened.

"Tch, damn rich guys."

"Lucky enough to be born with resources I could only dream of. If I had what he has then with my talent and that kind of wealth, I would no doubt be the next Overlord of Mankind by now, no question."

He shook off the thought, his gaze flicking back to the stranger, who now stood fully within the clearing.

The students parted instinctively, their bravado crumbling under the weight of his presence. Moca, however, remained where she stood, her usual icy composure faltering for a fleeting moment.

A faint flush crept across her pale cheeks, barely noticeable but unmistakable to those who knew her.

She straightened, her crimson eyes meeting the stranger’s golden ones, her expression a mix of surprise and shyness.

The man’s stoic voice cut through the silence, deep and resonant, carrying an authority that needed no effort.

"Hmmm is that Moca?!"

"Never though I would run into you again ."

He said, his tone flat yet somehow intimate, as if her name alone held meaning he didn’t need to explain.

His gaze lingered on her, unreadable but intense, the faintest curve at the corner of his lips suggesting something more.

His natural charm work wonders on people of the opposite sex.

She stammered as she greets him.

"I-It’s nice to see you again President."

"Hmmm, for you, Adam."

"Sure pre.... I mean Adam."

Adam commented then he looked at the group, Rex giving him the stink eye, still though, he was no fool.

Ironically this man was even higher in position than former Heir of the Van Hellsing family, Nyx Van Hellsing who current head and owner of New Her academy.

His sister, and also his fiance.

He said to himself, quietly no one but him heard it, or so he thought.

As Adam hears him clearly.

Still the students where excited to see him, if the President took resident here, them passing this gruel exam would be all but assured.

Still Adam looked at Moca and said.

"I take it that your not slacking?"

"No, president I am working on the request as ordered."

"Hmm, good, I do look forward to your results, either way, what’s going on here, I was hunting and I pass by seeing smoke rising from the distance."

Moca quickly began to explain.

"Oh Rex over there is responsible for this gathering, he basically made this safe heaven, basically these students gather to increase their chance of passing the exam, I recently join them as well, since the benefits was many."

Seeing this Adam nodded as he said.

"Is that so, hmmm how resourceful, so where is this so call Rex, I wish to meet the person that is so quick on his feet."

Adam already knew who it was, he saw Rex memories and his death and downfall before time traveling back in this point in time so he could hunt the variant that ended up killing everyone.

But he feign ignorance.

"That would be me Prez."

A dark skin man walked up to meet him.
