Chapter 58: Chapter 58

"For that reason, I'll eat this apple," I said taking an apple from the Fruit Basket on the dining table, "goodnight Hannah," I said and kissed her cheek and left to my room.

when I got into my room I saw Juliet sleeping on my bed, hugging the picture of both of us. my heart ached, I haven't spent time with Jade and Juliet because of these rehearsals, God… I haven't had time for anyone or anything. I took a shower and changed into a loose Polo and pajamas pants, tied my hair in a messy bun and took my books for my assignment.

my eyes were heavy with sleep but I had not finished the first assignment, I went to the kitchen to get some crackers but when I got there the crackers had finished, I had to make a black coffee for myself no sugar no milk or cream . when I got to my room Juliet wasn't on my bed anymore, am i really tired that I'm now hallucinating? I asked myself.

I went to Juliet's room and saw Jade placing her on her bed, "that's a relief, I'm not hallucinating," I muttered to myself. "Hey," Jade said smiling "sorry I didn't hear you come back, I was asleep," he said

"it's ok, I came in as quiet as I could, I didn't want to wake anybody up," I said to him

" I've missed you so much, this rehearsals is taking you away from me he said hugging me," I closed my eyes and exhaled, this is just what my body needed, a warm hug from Jade. I could literally feel the stress vanish "please hug me a little more," I said as he was about to untangle himself from the hug and he chuckled

"what did you miss about me?" he asked

"everything," I replied "I've missed everything." I stood on tiptoes and gave him a light kiss on the lips "I would love to stay longer but I have 2 assignment to complete tonight," I said

" is that why you want to drink black coffee?" he asked

"yes, I need to stay awake," I replied

" I can keep you company if you want," he said

"alright, come over to my room," I said and went to my room with him walking close by.

Jade stayed with me, massaging my shoulders from time to time and making more coffee for me .it was around 12 a.m. that I finished my assignment, the coffee had worn off at some point and so immediately I finished my assignment I fell on my bed and didn't waste time to fall asleep. I woke up to the sound of my alarm when I check the time it was 5:30 a.m. I don't remember setting my alarm this early, normally I usually wake up 6:00 and prepare for school I switched off the alarm and went back to sleep but Jade shook me "hey sleep no more, it's time to wake up," he said

"but I want to sleep a little more," I said to him

"no more sleep for you, wake up early and prepare you need to be there on time,"

" you are worst than my mother," I groaned as I walked lazily to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I came back into my room seeing a tray filled with fried plantain, fried egg, slices of bread and a cup of hot chocolate with floating marshmallows "wow looks yummy," I said it looks yummy and I'm sure it tastes yummy, so now sit and have all of it," Jade said to me "but I can't finish this," I argued. I ate half of my food and then Max took me to school when I was done. The stress of the rehearsals really took a toll on Collins and I and few students who were the main characters in the play, It Was by the grace of God that I was able to attend three of my classes out of four that day, I couldn't even pay attention in class because I was totally drained if only our lecturer would let us skip rehearsals for today, I will be the happiest person ever. But the way she made us practice seemed as if we were going for a national competition. During my 3rd class I was feeling really dizzy, my head felt as if it was splitting into 2. if I had known it will be like this, I would have taken an aspirin in the morning or I would have just brought it with me to school and the worst of it all was that we had chain classes.

On our way to the 4th and last class, Ariel told me to wait for her while she used the bathroom and I waited for her outside the bathroom, my headache had become intense and I was feeling really dizzy, "Ariel" I called knocking the door "please come out, I don't feel good" I told her

I knocked again weakly, water streamed from my eyes and nose, I just wanted to lie down. maybe if I lie on the ground it wouldn't feel so bad I thought, but my body had already agreed before my mind was made up and I was on the ground. the last thing I heard was Ariel screaming for help.

I woke up to the smell of hospitals disinfectant, "thank goodness you are awake," Ariel said as I opened my eyes

"how long have I been unconscious?" I asked

"about four to five," she answered

" oh crap," I muttered

"how are you feeling now?" she asked "better, I'm just having a little headache," I replied. "Oh no what about the last class? my assignment? oh how about the rehearsals? I have missed all of them," I started panicking

"relax, everything is fine. I submitted your assignment and the lecturer is aware that you are ill, the whole department is. as for the rehearsals our lecturer cancel the rehearsals for today and the weekends too because of you, it was obvious that she pushed all of us so hard to make the play perfect, most especially Collins and you," Ariel said

"who brought me here?" I asked

"Max did, when I saw you on the floor I scream for help and ran to him. the two of us carried you into the car and he rushed you here," she replied

"did Jade come to see me?" I asked in hushed tone

"yes I called him he has been by your side since the moment he came, he just stepped out to make a call," she answered

"oh… really?"

"yeah, in fact I'll go tell him you are awake," she said and went outside. Jade rushed in immediately "UK how are you feeling?" he asked

"I'm ok, just a slight headache," I answered

"hold on a sec,"  he  said and took out his phone

"hello Dr Kimberly she's awake but still complaining of headache. can you come to her room immediately," he said.

few minutes  later Dr Kimberly came in with a young looking nurse, "hello UK," he greeted

"hi Dr Kim berly," I answered."So how are you feeling now?" Dr Kimberly asked. "I just have a slight headache, other than that I'm fine," I replied "that's good to know," he said and place the stethoscope on my chest, neck and stomach

"she fainted because of stress and malnutrition, what your body need is healthy food, lots of it and a good bed rest, something I'm sure Mr Kale will be able to administer," Dr Kimberly said and Jade smiled "of course Dr," he said

"I'll need you to stay here overnight for us to observe you, tomorrow morning I will run another test and then you can go home. if you need anything please do well to call me," he said. "thank you Dr Kimberly," I said he nodded and turned to leave

"one more thing UK, no more Nikita, please," he said

"of course I promise," I said smiling "keep an eye on her Mr Kale," Dr Kimberly said to Jade

"I will not disappoint you," Jade said to him and he left with the nurse

"so what would you like to eat?" Jade asked after the doctor left

" I'm not really hungry, why not rush to DANIES PLACE and get me two cheeseburgers and a can of Pepsi," I said

"not on your life!" he said

Later that day, Xiao Ling and Darren visited me, coming with flowers and basket of fruits

"seriously? are we hosting a fruit party here? what happened to boxes of chocolate? candy? ice cream? and lots of sweet things? I'm tired of eating fruits," I said to them

"stop nagging like my grandmother and be grateful for what you have," Xiao Ling said and pinched my cheek "I am the sick person here, why do I get maltreated?" I said pretending as if I wanted to cry.

"Don't be such a cry baby, I promise when the time is right I'll personally give you lots and lots of sweet things to eat," Darren said to me

" you'll really do that?" I asked

"of course. what are friends for?" he replied I turned to Jade and stuck my tongue out naughtily

" if I get you eating junks I'll throw them all away," Jade said to me.

About an hour later, Jade left to change and bring dinner for me. Xiao Ling, Darren and I sat quietly for a while and then Darren took the basket of fruits they brought and gave to me "I don't feel like eating fruits," I said shaking my head

"I know, just take the basket," he said. I rolled my eyes and got it from him "now what?" I asked

"go through the basket and eat anything you like,"

" but I just told you that I didn't want to eat any fruit"

" I didn't say you should take any fruit I said take anything you like"

" fine I took out the fruit one at a time and place them on the bed, I lifted a mango and saw a pink label and I wasted no time to take the fruits out one at a time anymore. I turned the whole content of the basket on the bed "oh my god! you guys are the best. you really deceived Jade and even me," I said excitedly. under the fruits they placed two boxes of chocolate and lots of lollipops, all the flavours I love, strawberry, mango, peach, watermelon, grape, orange and plain cream.

"Jade is not aware that this lollipops contained fruit extract which gives the same nutrients in the body as a natural fruits," I said smiling
