I woke up Sunday morning very late. sluggishly, I dragged myself to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I was still feeling a bit sleepy, I was shocked to see me reflection in the mirror. Jade was right, I look very terrible when I wake up, my hair was so scattered and stiff.
I wondered how I would comb the tangles out without ripping my scalp and was that a pimple I saw on my nose? oh my God... I really haven't been taking care of myself lately, I thought to myself. my stomach rumbled in Hunger, I wonder what Hannah made for breakfast. After freshening up, I went downstairs and met Tiffany, Ariel, Jade, Xiao Ling and even Juliet, sitting on the couch with their eyes glued to the screen of their phones.
"Good morning everybody," I greeted but no one paid attention to me, they didn't even act as if I said anything. "fine then I'll just be on my own," I said and left the living room. there was no food on the dining table so I went to the kitchen to ask Hannah for my food.
"UK you are awake, how are you doing?" Hannah greeted
"I'm fine Hannah, thank you for noticing me," I said
"why what's wrong?" she asked
"well you know it seems I must have turned invisible or everyone have found something more interesting on their phones that I'm not aware of. Anyway I don't care about that what's for breakfast?"
"Umm... you see, I didn't know that Tiffany will stay overnight so I made breakfast for 3 and she ate yours,"
"oh really? ok that's alright I'll find something to eat,"
" ok... you sure?"
"absolutely, you don't need to worry," I told her. wow so not only did she eat my food she was so interested in her phone that she didn't even notice me, what on earth is happening in this house and why is Ariel and Xiao Ling here so early? I went back downstairs and they were still acting the way they did before
" alright if you guys want to pretend you are not seeing me this morning, then that's fine keep doing it and I'll pretend I live here alone, well except for Hannah," I said aloud and nobody turn. I went back to the kitchen Hannah had left, I decided to make breakfast for myself. I took out tomatoes and two eggs in the fridge and with the spices in the house I made a Spanish omelette for myself toasted some slices of bread, made a cup of hot cocoa and took my food to my room.
Tiffany, Ariel and Xiao Ling came inside as I was eating "hey girl," Tiffany said and I pretended I didn't hear her "ok we're sorry for doing that it was just for fun. Please don't be angry that we ignored you in the living room," Tiffany said. Instead of answering, I stuffed my mouth with bread, two can play this game I thought to myself.
" UK stop acting this way we're sorry ok? Jade made us do it," Ariel said
"really? he made you do it?" I asked sarcastically "what kind of game is this? and what are you 2 doing here so early in the morning?" I asked Ariel and Xiao Ling.
"we told you would come back remember? so we will still ask you the questions that have been bugging us since last night," Xiao Ling said.
"oh yeah your questions, alright go ahead I am not exhausted this time," I said And They All Laughed"Alright I'll go first. Why didn't you tell any of us that you'll be showcasing on Emy's fashion show?" Tiffany asked
"well I did tell Xiao Ling," I said in my defence
"yeah, she did tell me," Xiao Ling said and Tiffany jabbed her rib.
"I can't believe this, both of us were sitting here together talking and laughing and you didn't tell me, I even told you that the reason I came back to New York was because Emy's daughter, Cameron, who is also my best friend, invited me for her mother's fashion show," Tiffany said to me
"I'm sorry, it completely slipped my memory. And Ariel I'm sorry, I should have told you when we spoke," I apologized. For the next 30 minutes the three of them bombarded me with questions upon questions, related to the fashion show last night and I tried my best to answer them. Later that day, Tiffany went back to New Jersey promising to come back soon.
Monday morning I knew I would be the topic of discussion on student lips I was well aware that this will happen and so I made sure that I dressed up pretty. I wore a red plaid mini skirt, white off-shoulder long-sleeved blouse, paired with a black knee-high shoes and black handbag. I had taken time to style my hair in a thick bun at the top of my head, leaving 2 locks which I had curled with a curler on both sides of my face.
As usual, Ariel was waiting for me, "hey princess. How are you this morning? Hope you made a hearty breakfast for your Prince and his cute little angel," she said coming to hug me. I used my thumb and middle finger to kick her forehead "ouch! That hurts," she exclaimed rubbing her forehead with her palm
"That's what it was meant to do," I told her
"You know UK, if you weren't my friend, I would have dragged your hair right now for what you just did," she said
"Then it's a good thing that I'm your friend, because it took me a lot of effort to make this hair perfect," I told her.
Just as I thought, heads turned to my direction wherever I went. I had 4 classes and during each class, students especially the female ones struggled to sit near me, one almost injured Ariel when struggling seat with her. After class, our lecturer on stage performance announced that we would have a school presentation in 4 weeks and that audition was taking place later that day by 3 when we finished class for the day.
"It is mandatory that all students in this class must take part in the school presentation, this is because 80% of your continuous assessment will be from the school presentation," she said to us.
"oh no, I don't even know what to do," Ariel said fidgeting
" that's not the problem," I said "the problem right now is that our last class is ending 3 o'clock and we're expected to be at the theatre for the audition sharp 3, and I am very hungry. How on earth am I supposed to get lunch?" I said feeling very worried
As if on cue my stomach rumbled. My first class today was 7.30am, I wanted to be in class on time and so I didn't wait to have breakfast at home. We've had chain classes which made it impossible for me to get something to eat in between classes
"You're always thinking about food, even in an important time like this," Ariel said
"I can't continue with anything today on an empty stomach," I told her"why not text Max to get you something from that your favourite restaurant, what is it called... oh yeah! DANIES PLACE, and then as we're going to the theatre and you can just get it from him and eat your lunch while waiting for your turn during the audition," Ariel suggested.
"yeah, why didn't I think of that? you're a genius, thanks A," I said to her and took out my phone to send Max a quick SMS.
"please go to DANIES PLACE and get me four cheeseburgers and two cans of Pepsi," "Alright Miss, I'll be on my way right now," he texted back.
At the end of our last class, Opera 101, Ariel and I hurried to meet Max to get our food.
"This isn't the car you came with to school," Ariel pointed out
"Yup, definitely not. I wonder what he is doing here," I said.
"And by 'he' you mean...?"
"who else?"
"oh...I get it now. Your prince must have known that you were hungry and personally brought food for you," ariel said
"Wait here, I'll go check what he's doing here," I looked around if people were looking at me. I didn't want rumors to start spreading in the entire school that I've been getting into people's car.
"Looking good UK, I love your outfit," a girl said as she walked past
"thanks," I said smiling at her. I made sure that she had gone and nobody was looking before I open the car and peeped inside
"what on earth are you doing here?" I asked him "and good afternoon to you too my dear," he said.
"what? you know just forget it, why are you here?" I asked
"get in to the car," he said. "No I will not enter the car, I have somewhere to go right now," I told him.
"Is it really important?" he asked and I nodded in affirmation
"Come on UK, just get into the car 5 minutes. I won't take long," he said "fine excuse me," I said and turned to Ariel "hey Ariel why, not go I'll catch up with you later. save a good seat for me ok," I said to her.
"all right... have fun," she said smirking
Before I went to the car, I looked around again if there where people watching me. I got into the backseat of the car, "ok.. tell me, what are you do..." he kissed me thereby stopping me from saying anything I was about to say
He broke the kiss and looked at me "you like that don't you," he said smiling
"well in as much as I do like it, this is not the right time and definitely not the right place for this, what are you doing here in the first instance?" I asked
"well I learnt that my girlfriend was hungry and she needed lunch, so I got the food from Max and personally brought it here," he replied.
"wow... does he really have to report every single thing to you?" I asked
"Not to me, you see things are done this way, when a particular bodyguard has to leave his station for whatever reason, he lets Scott know where he is going and what he's doing there. Max told Scott that he was leaving to get lunch for you at DANIES PLACE, I overheard his conversation and I decided to come here instead of Max. Are you happy to see me?"
