We stayed at the hotel for hours, getting to know each other, talking about different things, fashion, food, the kids. In some discussions, I didn't have inputs, I just sat there listening to them. About 3 to 4 hours later, we went to the hotel's spa, showered and changed into bathrobes and wrapped our hair with towel. The children went to the play section of the hotel while we had a nice time here. We laid on beach chairs and our treatments started, I don't know for others but for me, it was a nice experience. 2 slices of cucumber were placed on my eyes, a slimy substance was applied to my face. My feet were in a bowl of sweet smelling liquid, I don't know if it was water, I could feel petals of flowers touching my feet. my shoulders were being messaged, I never knew I was so stressed out, I felt myself relaxing to the point of dozing off, these women had talented hands.

Just when I was about to get the next stage of my spa treatment, my phone rang. I took off the cucumber on my left eye to see who was calling, it was Scott, I wondered what he needed.

"hello?" I said

"I'm sorry ma'am but you're not allowed to make calls during session," the woman massaging me said.

"I really need to take this call Miss, it seems important," I answered

"5 minutes, please be quick. I don't want to be in trouble," she said and left

"Miss Udofia? Are you still there?" Scott said on the phone

"yes, yes, is anything the matter Scott?" I asked

"Miss it's Mr Kale, I think he's sick. He hasn't eaten anything since the half cup of coffee he had yesterday morning, he has locked himself up in the office and won't attend to anybody. His behavior is affecting the company, we've lost 2 important clients today and more are planning to withdraw. I shouldn't be saying this but the company is not doing fine and Mr Kale's behavior plays 70 percent role in it," he said

my throat ran dry, I felt a heavy weight on my chest, was this why Jade had been so angry? things are not going well in the company, but then why didn't he tell me and why did Scott tell me?

"That is really bad but why are you telling me all these? What am I supposed to do with these information?" I asked

"We need your help, the only person that can break through Mr Kale's ice fence, we just need him to be out and back to his old self. Is there a way you could help us?"

"I don't know Scott, last time I tried making him open up to me but it didn't end well, I'm not sure i could be of help." I told him

"why not just come do whatever you can to help, if there really isn't anything you can do, I will personally take you home," Scott persisted.

"ok, I'll come but I don't know my way to the office," I said

"no worries, I'll come get you, are you at home?"

"no" I directed him to the spa and went to change into my clothes. Claudia volunteered to watch Juliet while I was away. I rummaged through my bag and brought out my powder, lipstick and mascara, and retouched my makeup.

Scott came and took me with Jade's car, leaving the car we came with for Max to drive Claudia, Katie and Juliet back.

On our way to the office, Scott explained the real cause of Jade's anger issue. According to him, Jade's company were supposed to launch a new perfume in 2 days, everything was ready but just 2 weeks ago, a competing company hijacked the model that was supposed to advertise the perfume, leaving them hanging.

They did not just take his model, they took his top investors, this made Jade go crazy and act the way he's been acting recently.

When we reached the company, I noticed people looking at me and whispering, "Scott what's going on?" I asked confused and a bit nervous.

"Don't let their silly acts disturb you," he said but I didn't feel better. It got to a point that they openly talked about me and pointed fingers, I could hear things like, "that's the woman boss and Scott were talking about"

"I heard she's the boss latest woman"

"... not even pretty"

"... blacks, pfft"

one guy came boldly to Scott and asked if he could get my number, with a glare, he scurried away.

"Scott was there an announcement that I'll be coming?" I asked

"no, Jade and I had a loud argument in his office about me bringing you to talk sense into him, someone must have heard and spread silly rumors," he answered.

We got to a security checkpoint, the security guard looked at me sneering, I couldn't take it anymore, what exactly was these people's problem with me?

"hey lady, if you have something to say to me then say it, don't give me that stupid look," I said.

"fine, who the fuck are you that Scott should suggest you could solve our company's problem?" she asked

Scott must have noticed that I was not behind him because I saw him running back, "oh thank goodness, Miss Udofia, what are you doing here?" he asked

"I'm chatting with this lady and few people who care to listen,"

"Sorry Scott but she didn't answer my question," the security lady said

"you want to know who I am?" I asked and they nodded

"I am your boss's Girlfriend"The security lady looked at me in shock for a few seconds and bursted out laughing, "you are Mr Kale's girlfriend and I'm Queen Elizabeth. You know for a second I was really scared that I may have offended a very important person but now, you are no different from the others. Look over there, those women there are like you, they are Mr Kale's 'girlfriend'." She used her fingers to make air quote on the word "girlfriend"

"I must say I'm impressed, I don't know how you pulled it off but coming here with Scott makes your claim somewhat believable, but let me tell you, I can see through your pretence. you really have some guts black girl, didn't you take a look at the mirror before coming here? You are the exact opposite of Mr Kale's type of women, you are very young, you are a black person and did I mention, you are such a terrible liar, you are an impersonating bitch,"

I turned around and saw a group of people had gathered, watching the scene we created, what really drew people's attention was the security lady's loud voice.

"Hey, are you crazy? How dare you speak nonsense to her, in case you have forgotten, you are just an ordinary security guard and you have absolutely no right insult anyone coming into this building." Scott said, defending me.

"Scott, I know she must have given you a lot of money or something to defend her, in case you too didn't know, you are just an assistant, and you're not my boss so stay out of this," she continued.

"Are you mentally derailed? You really don't know how to speak with someone, well I may just be an assistant but this assistant can make you lose your job right now. You just wait let me call your superior," Scott said dialing a number on his phone, "hello Liam, I need you to do something for me, there is someone here, I need you to take care of."

Scott told the man all that this security lady said, I had a feeling she was in big trouble, I felt really bad that this woman may likely lose her job because of me. I didn't come here to do this to someone, I came here to see Jade. A lanky looking man with a long ponytail came to us, there was no doubt he was an important person, he came straight to the security lady.

"You again Loraine? How many times have I received complaint about you this month?" he asked her, the place was so quiet that if a pin fell down, you would have heard it clanging.

"I asked you a question and I demand an answer. Loraine... I'm waiting," he said

"Scott, who's this man?" I whispered

"He's the head of HR department of the company," he whispered back

"5 times," Loraine answered facing down.

"And still you never change, 5 times people complain of your misconduct. Either you insult people coming in to see Mr Kale, or you delay them with your 'thorough security search', you keep doing things to ruin this company. You are one of the problems this company is trying to rectify, I've had enough of you."

"I'm sorry sir, I promise it won't happen again," Loraine said.

"oh yes Loraine, that I'm sure of, I know that I will never hear a complaint from you anymore because you are fired. I want to see your security pass and key card on my table now," he said and everyone gasped in shock, I included.

Loraine fell on her knees crying and begging him to spare her and her family, I didn't want to be the bad person here so I interceded for her.

"Excuse me Sir, can I have a word with you?" I asked and he turned to me.

"And who are you if I may ask?

"I..."

"This is Miss Udofia, she was the victim of Loraine's insult," Scott interrupted.

"Good to see you Miss U..." he scrunched his face trying to pronounce my surname.

"Please call me UK. You know as much as she deserves to be punished for her misconduct, my conscience would not be at peace if it's because of me. Instead of terminating her job here, give her a 2 weeks suspension and salary slash for 2 months, that way when she's back, she'd learn how to behave," I said.

"please, please, I accept, please don't fire me. I promise to tell you those that spread the rumors," she begged.

"You are a really intelligent person UK, i don't know how you are related to Mr Kale but he is lucky to have someone like you," he said.

"Well I think we've had enough show, but I'm sure this isn't why you brought me here Scott," I told Scott.

"You're right, come this way, Mr Kale's office is this way."
