Chapter 66: Chapter 66
ROYCE
I never wanted to get Nelly mad at me again as I am used to seeing her sweet face when she's happy with me. But what happened when I came home was unexpected. Nelly doesn't even want to be touched; she was mad as hell. Even when I sat down on the sofa to obey her, she didn't calm down.
I didn't put much weight on the investigation I made for her because I made it with a good intention to get close to her and make a little background check. And I thought I didn't have any obligation to confess it to Nelly since it was quite a long time, and we are in a good relationship now.
"Baby, I had it with a good intention; I almost forgot about it. I left it on the table when I had to find a file. I wasn't expecting you'd get to my library."
"That doesn't answer my question. And for your info, I tried to call you to ask permission before entering your library. I was bored after finishing the project that I crave reading books. Instead of lessening my boredom, I found that envelope. It was a nightmare."
"Baby, it's not what you think it is."
"Really?" Nelly was deadpanned as she was glaring at me.
"Baby, calm down, please, have a seat. Let's talk nicely and calmly," I said slowly like I was begging her.
Nelly continuously glared at me, but she finally sat down opposite me.
"You know how I felt when I fully grasped what's in that envelope? I feel like a criminal being investigated," she said. Still crossing her arms on her chest.
"Remember when we first met? You were so aloof that it was almost impossible to get close to you."
"Mr. Park, you also have to remember that you already have my number the first time we meet. Remember? I left my phone in your car, and you had the audacity to phone book your digits on my contacts."
"Baby, I know that. But you didn't treat me well the first time I called you, remember? By the tone of your voice that night, I knew that you were not happy to talk to me."
"So, you're saying that it was my fault that you had me investigated?"
"Baby, you know that's not what I meant. My point here is that I did it with good intentions. I didn't have you investigated because you are a bad person. I only want to get to know you. And I am sorry that I went too far, but that's how badly I want to get close to you," I expressed sincerely.
Nelly's facial expression loosened, which was a good sign for me. She might have realized that I wasn't wrong at all. I patiently waited for her to speak.
"Let's not talk about this anymore. I have to go to my room."
"Baby, forgive me. I am truly sorry."
Nelly didn't answer and went straight to her room. I wasn't expecting she would ignore me, but it was good enough. At least she wasn't that mad anymore.
"How about dinner? Baby, I'm cooking for dinner," I offered before she got into her room.
"I'm not hungry," Nelly answered but didn't bother to look back. It made me sad.
I considered I could use a best friend's advice, so I called Leo to ask how to get a woman back after a short misunderstanding. The ring almost ended before Leo answered.
"Hey, buddy, I thought you forgot about me. You haven't called since your birthday. How are you and Nelly?" Leo asked before I had the chance to speak.
His voice wasn't clear, and I had to listen to him closely. There was a loud noise in his background; I assumed he was partying with some friends in a club.
"Leo, I'm sorry about that, but I need your help."
"I see. You remember calling me after a lover's quarrel," Leo said sarcastically.
"No, don't get me wrong. I'm serious. Where are you now? You have a loud noise in your background."
"We're out, partying. Wanna join us?"
"I can't, we can't. Nelly is upset with me."
"What did you do?" A woman chimed in. And I could never be wrong; it was Marica.
"Marica, is that you?"
"Yes, no one else. Now, answer me," Marica commanded for the second time; she was angry.
"Yes, but it's not that serious. Nelly went to my library, and she accidentally found the file where I had her investigated. And before you panic, it was when we first met, and she was aloof, so I found ways to get to know and get close to Nelly. I didn't have any bad intentions of doing it."
"Is that so? Why didn't you do what typical men would do? Call her, invite her to date, give her gifts and treat her well,"
Marica expressed. Judging her voice, I could tell that she was irritated.
Oh, God, they are best friends for a reason. I already told her, Nelly was aloof by that time. I'm sure she knows her best friend more than I do. Nelly wasn't interested in men when we first met.
"Marie, I told you, your best friend, didn't want me to get close to her. I called Nelly the night I returned her phone, but she sounded upset; she even called me an idiot when I joked about her mood swings."
I could hear Marica and Leo laughing hard on the other line. I know they did it to piss me off. I guess they need each other as they seem to have matching personalities. Bullies!!
"Now, you know. You shouldn't joke women about our mood swings. We have it sometimes; it could be hormonal imbalance."
"I know that, but Nelly wasn't about hormonal imbalance, right?" It was a traumatic experience that got her acting aloof to men."
"Yes, Royce, you're right. Thank you for being patient with Nelly. By the way, where's Nelly now?"
"Nelly is in her room; I said I'll cook for dinner; she said she's not hungry."
"You mean she's living with you? How come I didn't know all about this? Nelly hasn't called me since your birthday party."
"I suggested that I look into her while I haven't gotten rid of Roxie and Dennis. We never know what they are planning. In fact, when Nelly went back to get her things from her condo yesterday, Roxie and the other girls were there."
"Other girls? Who are those girls?" Marica asked eagerly.
"I bet you know them since their parents are into business. Mia, Arya, and Lexxi."
"Oh, those bitches. I thought I'd given them enough lessons. They used to bully Nelly when Nelly's family went broke. Leave it to me; I can handle them. But Roxie, how come she was able to come close to Nelly? Did you allow Nelly to get her things alone in her condo?"
"No, I dropped Nelly to the condo and instructed her to wait for me after fixing an emergency in the company. But she didn't follow my instructions. She was already in the lobby when I returned, surrounded by Roxie and her friends."
"I see."
"Marie, you don't have to worry about this; I can handle them all. But can you guys help me persuade Nelly?"
"Oh, about that. Just a simple suggestion. Cook for Nelly and take it to her room. Make sure you don't ruin her diet. She will love it if you take her diet into consideration. You can have dinner together, be creative. Who says you can only have breakfast in bed? Try having dinner with Nelly in her room, and if you get lucky, you'll get a reward for that."
Marica said the last sentence sexually; she was teasing me.
I didn't hesitate to try it to see if it worked since I had no other choice. And I was lucky to get the reward Marica told me.
