Chapter 29: Chapter 29
Kylo’s Point Of View
Niah was delighted after her coronation. Every day, she was bubbly. Seeing her happy about a misfortune that she doesn’t know bothers me. The demis bow down to her every time she passes by and smile at her. She has gained their respect and gratitude.
I can’t tell her they’re going to kill her, especially that I don’t have any evidence to prove our claim. I have a bad feeling about it.
“Kylo!”
It shocked me when Niah appeared out of nowhere. I dropped the book that I was reading and it fell to my feet.
“Aww!” I ached in pain as I shook my left foot.
Niah laughed at me.
“Why are you so surprised? And what are you reading?” she asked.
She walked towards me and grabbed the book in my hand.
“Dating 101? I never knew you like this stuff,’ she teased.
“Well, the books here are limited to love. I wonder why you have this kind of book.”
“It’s there to help us how to make a human fall in love with us.”
She playfully winked at me.
“Really? I was reading it because I know someone who dated no one and he hates the idea.”
“So have you dated someone?”
I paused for a while and thought of Treyton.
“Of course, I have.”
I faked a smile.
“Really?”
I nodded.
“Anyway, why do you have books for magic if you’re not allowed to perform it?”
She pondered upon the idea and sighed.
“Like what I said, not everyone has the ability to use magic. The book of enchantment has to choose you.”
“Then why are you studying magic if you don’t have the ability?”
“Who told you I don’t have one?”
She smiled. My mouth opened in half when I realized it.
“Can you perform magic?” I jolted.
She urgently covered my mouth and dragged me to a room. It was where the moving wall was located. It was the wall where we could enter the library.
“Zip your mouth. They must not know,” she said in a hushed tone.
“Oh. Sorry. But how did you know you are gifted?”
She looked at me with a long face.
“I began to feel something odd when I was inside the library once. We are not allowed to be in there, but a force called me. I heard a bizarre sound which led me to the book of enchantment.”
“So what magic have you performed?”
“Well, I have to use a magic wand. I can turn you into a frog.”
“What?”
I chuckled.
“Do you think I’m joking?”
She crossed her arms.
“No. It sounds ridiculous to me. So can you turn lord Luxferre into a frog?”
“I’m not sure. I think his magic is more powerful to dodge my attacks. He’s on the higher level.”
“So your magic can’t affect him? That’s too bad,” I said in dismay.
“Why? Do you want to harm him?” she asked in suspicion.
“What? Why would I think of that? I wanted to know if you can protect yourself with magic in case you’re in danger.”
I sighed.
“How sweet of you. I can, but I don’t know how long.”
They say the chosen one becomes stronger. When a demi becomes a watcher, they grant strength to her. Watchers protect the land against evil spirits who can possess them and do evil things. Before they can even find a body to possess, Watcher’s soul will stop them.
“Have you seen an evil spirit?” I asked.
She sat on the sofa and crossed her legs.
“No. But according to my research, evil spirits possess those who have evil intentions or a lot of negativities in life. People who are possessed are surrounded with black and blue aura. And potential victims are surrounded with black aura due to too much negative energy in them,” she explained.
“Are you aware that you are being possessed?”
“Yes, and you can’t get rid of them easily. They give you supernatural power and strength. They control you to spread chaos.”
“How can we see the aura?”
She gently stroked her chin.
“That’s a good question. There’s a spell for it, so you can see the evil spirit. If you have the ability, then we can try the magic in you.”
My brows furrowed.
“What do you mean? You know the magic?”
“Not really, but we will know if we find the book of enchantment.”
“As far as I remember, it’s inside the library and we are not allowed to be there.”
She grinned.
“But we can get inside,” she said.
“Oh, yeah. But Luxferre will surely be there to kill us in no time.”
“We need your cousin.”
“You mean Vad?”
“Who else?”
We found Wagner in the kitchen. He was busy cooking something. He gracefully sliced every ingredient with poise like he’s a professional chef. The guys paid closer attention to his movement as they sat at the couch in front of him.
“What are you up to? A cooking show?” I said sarcastically while walking towards him.
“I’m teaching the males how to cook gorgeously,” he replied.
“Woah. I guess you like men after all,” I said.
I grabbed a chair and placed it closer to the table where he’s performing.
“I have something important to tell you.”
He didn’t glance at me for a second. I roamed my eyes around to look for someone.
“Sojin isn’t here. Should I call him? He’ll surely love-- “
The knife produced a loud sound when he chopped the meat in a rage. He pierced his killer gaze at me.
“What do you want, hazelnut?” he asked.
“Come with us.”
Wagner untied his black apron and threw it at the table.
“I’ll be back,” he said to his audience.
I shook my head in disappointment. He really loves attention.
We went back to the meeting room and continued our plan. Vitton and Vior were the heads to the Demis. They’re in charge of their safety and misbehavior. They usually talk about private matters in the meeting room.
“What?!” Vad hissed.
His eyes were wide open after hearing our plan. His lungs almost gave in. We told him to distract Luxferre. In what way? He’s going to tell him he likes Sojin and they are getting married. I’m sorry to say this, but I had an evil laugh while thinking about it.
“Have you gone mad?” he said.
His jaw tightened as he closed his eyes to control his anger.
“Don’t overreact. It’s just a show. Everything’s not real. Just play along,” I said.
“Do you think this is fun?” he said in a low tone.
“What’s the fuzz? Can’t you do acting? Everybody lies,” Niah said.
“Only liars say that everybody lies, and loners say everybody leaves,” he replied.
I crossed my arms.
“Vad… Are you alright? You seem so sensitive. Oh my gosh, don’t tell me you’re falling for him?” I asked while covering my mouth with my hand.
