Chapter 300: Chapter 300
Time quickly advanced to ten o’clock in the morning. By this time, parents outside the Jing University Gate had already come and gone in waves. Then, another batch of freshmen, laden with heavy packages, poured in.
The gate of Jing University was indeed large, but only a side entrance was open. Hundreds of students surged in at once, immediately filling every narrow gap to the brim.
"Damn it, why the hell are we squeezing?!"
"A little squeeze is good for your health."
"Who the hell just pushed me? Step forward if you dare, and we’ll settle this!"
"It’s so tight, I can’t get through at all!"
"With so many people, they only opened such a small gap. Are they freaking kidding?"
The freshmen complained as they squeezed through, not understanding why Jing University, with such a large gate, would only have a small opening for them.
Inside the registration area, Su Yan also looked confused. He tilted his head to ask Brother Zhang beside him, "Brother Zhang, with so many students coming in, why don’t they open the entire gate? It’s way too crowded." Follow current novᴇls on 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✶𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✶𝓷𝓮𝓽
"Heh heh." Upon hearing this, Brother Zhang sneered twice before speaking with disdain, "Though the gap is small, it can accommodate two large guys coming in at the same time with no problem. If everyone entered in an orderly manner, it wouldn’t take ten minutes for everyone to get inside. But look at those freshmen—each one is rushing to get in. That’s why it seems to take so long. This narrow gate is the first test for entering Jing University."
Having said that, Brother Zhang buried his head back in organizing materials for the newcomers, preparing for the next two hours of orientation.
So this narrow gate is deliberately meant to test the freshmen, huh? Su Yan nodded, though he only vaguely understood and still felt it was pointless. He didn’t really see it as a test; rather, it seemed like something cooked up out of boredom. It’s just an entrance. Did it really need to be so over-the-top? Bengbu! Give me a break!
Seeing the newcomers squeezing so fiercely, a volunteer couldn’t stand it anymore and immediately called out, "Please line up in an orderly fashion to enter! This gap is tiny; how can so many people squeeze through at once? So! Everyone, please come in one at a time! Don’t push; the more you push, the slower it will be!"
Right after the volunteer spoke, the freshmen outside the gate quickly began to line up in an orderly manner. After all, few of them truly couldn’t spare a moment to enter. Most had only started pushing because someone else pushed them, prompting them to shove back out of annoyance and pride. Then those who were pushed became frustrated and pushed back again, followed by more pushing back in furious frustration. This cycle of reaction continued and kept escalating, resulting in the previous chaotic scene.
"’As expected, most people are just unruly; they need someone to manage them,’ the volunteer who had just restored order sneered, seeing the scene calm down after their words.
About seven or eight minutes later, all the new students outside the gate had entered Jing University and were lining up at the various welcome windows.
The so-called welcome windows were actually just a long registration table. Five signs were placed on it, with window numbers handwritten with a marker. At each window, two volunteers sat, responsible for checking new student information, distributing school maps, and so on.
The entire welcome scene looked quite rudimentary and not at all enthusiastic, leaving many freshmen greatly disappointed.
Among them, the male freshmen were the most disappointed. Out of the ten volunteers present, there was only one senior sister; the rest were all damn senior brothers.
Having only one senior sister was bad enough. But why did she have to look so androgynous? With her short, neat haircut, a casually worn tank top, and baggy shorts, no one would have guessed she was a girl if not for her surprisingly prominent bust. Even then, she looked more masculine than many of the guys!
"’Good grief! Spare me, please!’" A chorus of groans erupted from the male students on site.
In contrast to the majority of the male freshmen, the few female freshmen at the scene seemed to be having a much better time. Even though they had to squeeze through the gate with a crowd of muscular guys and then wait in line under the scorching sun, it all felt worth it. Why? Because there was an incredibly handsome senior at window number five on the registration table!
All the hardships suddenly seemed worth it.
"Ah, that senior is so handsome! I wish I could go on a romantic trip to Turkey with him."
"Stop dreaming. A guy that good-looking is bound to be taken already."
"So what if he’s taken? I’m going to take the initiative later and add the senior on Feixin. Then I’ll cast some bait to draw him in, play a little hard to get, and snatch him away from any other woman!"
"Heh, so many playgirls."
"Hey, that senior looks a bit familiar. I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before?"
Many girls in the line whispered among themselves, discussing Su Yan at window number five. Without exception, each one was attracted by his looks and couldn’t help feeling a flutter of excitement in their hearts.
As for Su Yan himself, he was long accustomed to this kind of attention. He simply called out in an ordinary voice to a girl at the front of the line, "Student, please take out your admission notice for me to check."
"Oh... Oh... Okay," the girl stammered in response.
Then, her face flushed, she walked up to Su Yan, stopped, took her Jing University admission notice from her backpack, and handed it over.
