Chapter 41: Chapter 41

'Bang!!'

Out of nowhere, the booming sound arose through the hallway jeopardizing my nice seep. I groaned in frustration and opened my eyes. I glanced at the wall clock, it reads past eight in the morning.

Ohh... the sun raised already? I twisted my lips feeling ungrateful for that. I would be grateful if I get more time to sleep. Sighing in defeat, I peeled off the bedsheet from me before letting out a soft yawn but again I heard the booming sound from the hallway which almost caused my ear to go deaf.

What's going on? Then I heard a scratching sound of metal followed by a woman screaming.

Oh, God!! My heartbeat increased rapidly. I have no idea what's happening there but again a familiar voice got my attention sending goosebumps in my stomach.

I gulped down before letting my legs carry me to the front door. My hand trembled in fear when my palm contacted the cold metal of the doorknob.

'It's not what you think." I told myself and pulled the door wide open. All the heads turned towards my direction the moment I revealed myself to their eyes, and the pair of hazel eyes looked deep into me with a worried expression.

On the other hand, Draco glared at someone, his face turned into a shade of deep red. I followed his gaze then saw a bleeding Kayish lying on the floor clutching his stomach painfully while the nurse is helping him to stand on his own.

"Riya!! Baby girl. You okay?" Daniel rushed towards me and cupped my cheeks. I leaned towards his touch and let my tears fall through my cheeks. He is my big brother; he is the reason why I and Sweety are still alive.

After my baby's dead, I shattered completely. Sweety's health condition was not helping a bit. She had been getting worst day by day. I lost all my hope and let my guard down but Daniel fight till the end and brought my baby's life back.

"I'm..." My voice croaked. "I'm fine."

"Shh!! Don't cry. I'm here for you. I won't let any bastard come near you." He stroked my hair gently before his hard glare turned towards Kayish who was wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, yet, blood is snoozing through it.

"Riya! Come. Sit down." Daniel's wife Laura led me to take a seat. "Why are you still here? Aren't you scared of your life?" This time, Dylan, the second brother of Smith's family, warned him throwing him the same murderous glare Draco gave.

"I'm grateful for your brothers, otherwise I would sue you from this place." He tried to compensate for his voice.

He looks terrible, he has a long cut on the tip of his nose and a giant bruise appears on his cheeks, along with his jaw. They taught him a lesson but somehow my heart ached to see him in pain.

"You mother fucker!!" Dylan fisted his hand and charged towards him. When his fist landed on his face, he kissed the floor once again and groaned in pain.

"Enough!!" A voice roared through the hallway sending chills down to everyone's spine. I saw how Draco gulped audibly, his hand shivered in anxiety.

"Dad!!" the three said in unison but he glared at his three sons before walking towards Kayish who is lying on the floor not having enough strength to stand on his own.

"Dad he is-" Daniel began but stopped in his midst when his dad gave him one hard glare. Dylan stormed out of the hospital, all the while cursing something under his breath.

They know they can't go against their dad. They respect their dad's every decision even if it is unfair to them.

"Leave!" He commanded looking at his two sons who were very stubborn to leave this place. Draco took a seat on one of the chairs while Daniel looked somewhere but him. He acted like he didn't hear what his dad said.

Jack arrived on time before one of them do God knows what. "What's happening?" He furrowed his brows and ran faster to Kayish once he saw his friend's awful situation. He wrapped his hand around his neck and led him to his room, maybe for nursing his injury.

"Daniel!" Uncle John called his name bitterly. "Come with me." He said sternly. "You too young man." He pointed towards Draco who gave him an innocent look like he doesn't know anything but deep down I know he was the one who had hit him terribly.

After the boys went, a dead silence filled the hall. Claire brought me juice and toast to eat but when I refused she pointed out I wanted to eat for two.

Letting out a loud sigh, I buried my face between my palms. So, they knew about the baby, this explains why they were so furious.

A small tear threatened to come out, but I blinked my eyes not wanting to let them know how pathetic I am. They are overprotective and treat me like I'm their precious gem when I am not even related to blood.

I still remember the day when they all opened their arms for me, welcoming me into their life. They brought so many sweet memories that no one can replace even my brother. I didn't hear from him or my parents since I left England, my so-called native place.

I ate silently ignoring their piercing stare digging the hole onto my skull. "Your daughter is awake." The nurse informed us when she happened to pass the hallway.

"Here." Jane Watz, Dylan's girlfriend handed me a tray of food. "Thanks," I muttered before walking towards my baby's room.

"Mommy!" she began to whimper which caught me off guard. "Baby!! What happened to you? You okay?" I reached her small hand and rubbed her palm. "It's hurting." Tears pooled down her cheeks.

A large lump formed in my throat and I found it very hard to swallow. The nurse came and gave her a painkiller. At first, she was adamant to take the medicine. "Where is Uncle?" she asked once again taking me off guard.

"He... he is -" I searched for the proper words.

"I'm here." His voice made our heads turn towards the door. "Uncle." She whispered excitedly. Kayish took a few large steps and stood beside her, on the opposite of mine.

"What's happened to you?" Sweety pouted her lips. She is on the verge of crying it made my heart squeeze with pain. "Nothing baby. I'm alright." He winced when her hand touched his swollen cheeks.

"Now be a good baby and take your medicine." He stretched his palm towards me gesturing me to give him a tablet.

Hesitantly, I gave him a medicine and watched how he is convincing her by saying he will take her to the amusement park once she recovers fast.

Without wasting any time, she opened her mouth and he shoved the tablet deep inside her throat and made her drink the water. After that, he fed her breakfast until she finished the plates and gave her a glass of milk as a final touch.

I blankly watched them as an unknown emotion flooded through my body, at some point I wish it would be great if he is with us, 'lifelong' my inner mind added. I shook my head to get rid of the negative trance.

Deciding it is time to give her some space, I walked out of her room after confirming she fell asleep. Mom Daisy engulfed me the moment I stepped out of Sweety's room for a bone-crushing hug.

"Oh, my poor girl. You all right?" She examined my whole body trying to find any trace of injury like what I did to Sweety. Mother's love is always eternal except my own.

"Mom, I'm alright." I gave her a weak smile. Now the whole family is standing in front of me and I felt so small under their gazes.

Some faces I have known already gave me a look of pity while some threw me a guilty look who I recognized a bit but not sure whether my assumption was right.

The furious Daniel and his wife Laura Stood near the water can, Dylan and his Girlfriend Jane Watz sat on the chairs while Claire tried to calm her furious boyfriend Draco who was continuously cursing which is not pleasured to hear, that explained they got a big lecture from dad.

Rachel and Mark sat on the chair while Karan took a good look at every new face. Then I saw a faint familiar face, the replica of Kayish, besides, standing an old woman yet beautiful who I assume is Kayish's Mom.

Now all the family members are gathering here. If it is not a hospital, we would call this a family reunion.

I wonder whether it's a hospital or some charity hall. Why the hell all the peoples are here? aren't there one of the hospital rules of 'don't allow more than two visitors a day but again I can't blame them.

They are so rich and have more connections with VIPs. I can't even predict who owns this hospital among these people I care a lot about.

"Can I see my kid?" Kalish's mom asked somehow her voice held agony. "Not now." An arrogant reply came out of nowhere and he stood beside me. "She is sleeping. Let her take rest." He said in monotonic.

Haven't I told you he is not fond of his parents? After that, no one utters any words which were very grateful for me.

---

One week passed having a daily routine of everyone coming in a random time, giving me a reason of they are here for checking me and Sweety and to my surprise, she is doing very well than I expected.

All this time Kayish stood for our side not leaving us any second. No one dared to push him out which give me a suspicion that dad is behind all this glory.

His place in Sweet's heart is promoted from Uncle to Friend and she is very fond of her new friendship. Sometimes, he put her bed while I was not feeling well; the morning sickness is eating me alive.

Between these times, he begged me to tell her the truth, but I insisted. I only allowed him because he is a part of my Sweety's recovery but that doesn't mean I would give him what he wants.

And yesterday I felt him talking to my stomach at night when I was in deep slumber as to how he is going to make a good father. I heard him say more and more about the future but I was too busy drowning in my sleep.

I melted for his words, but these were the same words he used four years ago when I was in a relationship with him and I don't want to fall for his same trick again.

"Mam, please sign here." The nurse handed me a file. I let out a sigh of relief. Finally, we are going to get rid of this place.

Yes! Today we are going to tell goodbye to this hospital. I don't like to stay here either Sweety does, it brings all bitter memories I had experienced a year ago. I signed all the pages and returned the file to the nurse.

"Riya." My body tensed when I heard him calling my name. What he wants now. "Please come with me." He begged to make me furrow my brows.

What made him think I would go with him if he asks? "I already gave my answer Mr. Miller. I don't want you near me or my babies." I gave him my most polite reply.

"Try to understand Riya. It's not safe for staying all alone in that your wrecked apartment." He gritted his teeth.

"Mind your words, Mr. Miller. I know how to take care of myself and my babies. Where did you go when I was in the same situation, four years ago." His eyes softened and the guilty look replaced his anger.

"Don't kill me." He whispered. Ignoring his pleading, I turned my heels and walked towards Sweety's room, but I was stunned when I saw her tear-stained face. "Baby, what's wrong?" I asked. I could hear the pounding in my ribcage.

"Mom, why dad doesn't want me?" She cried and buried her head on my chest hugging me tightly. "Why he didn't come to see me? Am I pretty much ugly?" she whimpered.

Oh, God! Why she doesn't take the word 'dead' in her mind, but I can't blame her. She is barely reached four. "Baby your daddy is not with us." I wiped her tears with my hands.

"But grandpa said he is here with us." She sobbed. My eyes widen in shock. He said what?!

"When did he say-" I gulped the lump in my throat not able to finish the sentence. Why did he do this to us? He is a father to me, he never hurt mine or Sweety's feelings but again why does he do?

"Daddy--" she stretched her hand before climbing out of the bed and sprinted towards Kayish's arm who was frozen on his spot, but even in this dilemma, he didn't fail to take her in his arms.

"Daddy please! Don’t leave me. I love you. I will be a good girl, I promise" Her voice is completely broken.

I feel guilty for dragging her into our mess. She is a kid and she deserves every happiness in her life, but I snatched everything for my greed.

Sweety wrapped both her hand around his neck and buried her face in the crook of his neck. His eyes held so much passion and love, at the same time, agony is evidence on his face.

Dad, you need a proper explanation for what you did. I mentally took a note.
