Chapter 51: Chapter 51

The classes of Shadowridge Academy were comparable to those of a five-star conference room.

Lana, having experienced it first hand could testify to it.

But at the same time, the mystic cultivator department’s classroom fascinated her deeply. It was completely on a different level.

For the first time, she realized the difference between luxury and better than average.

The classroom of the weapon designing department was above average, while the mystic cultivator department... just another level.

Since it had been way past the lecture time, a professor on the dais was teaching, while 5 students were taking notes.

Even from afar, Lana could see the mist lingering on their head.

The common factor among them was golden yellow mist, indicating their meritorious deeds. They also had a unique mist attached to them, but before Lana could continue ogling them, the professor on the dais paused.

"Good morning, Vice Principal Duran. May I know the reason why you are disrupting my class?"

Lana: "..." Wow... so straightforward.

The professor had sharp, hawk-like eyes that instantly shifted from Duran to Lana. His shoulder-length black hair was tied into a low pony, while his sharp facial features, coupled with his naturally tall height, made him stand out even more.

There was no dress code restriction on the students other than explicit nudity. But the staff members had to wear formal clothes.

Hence, the professor was wearing a blue and white shirt with a stone gray blazer coupled with the stone gray pants, giving off a ’Don’t mess with me’ vibe.

Duran, however, didn’t seem affected in the slightest. He clasped his hands behind his back, wearing that same calm smile that made Lana wonder whether he was fearless or simply reckless.

"My apologies, Professor Rensworth," Duran said evenly. "But I brought someone who will be joining your department effective immediately."

The murmur ran through the five students.

Professor Rensworth’s gaze flicked back to her, assessing her like one would a rare but suspicious artifact.

"A new student?" he said slowly. "In my department? Without prior notice from the Council?"

"She’s an exception," Duran replied. "A mystic cultivator. Awakened one."

Lana rolled her internally and thought,

’Of course, I have awakened as a mystic cultivator, and only then have you brought me here. This makes no sense.’

"It does. Mr. Duran often receives some requests about how their son and daughter might have the potential to be mystic cultivators, and sometimes they even sit here for an entire semester before knowing that I don’t have a magical wand to magically transform them into a mystic cultivator." Professor Rensworth’s voice echoed above Lana, causing her body to tense up.

Both Duran and Rensworth were taken aback by Lana’s response.

They exchanged a look before Rensworth asked in a soft voice,

"Child, can you demonstrate your mystic energy on the podium? However, I would like to mention, even if you are exceptional... I may have to conduct an extra interview before I decide whether to let you enter or not. After all, even for exceptions, I don’t make any exceptions." Latest content publıshed on novelFɪre.net

"Ugh... sure." Lana agreed and started walking toward the podium, but her heart was pounding loudly. She stared at the familiar faces whom she had once felt gratitude for and inhaled a deep breath.

In her previous life, even after emerging as the genius of the weapons design department, her classmates were hostile to her because of her new identity.

In this life, though Lana didn’t have much expectation, she wanted to make a favorable impression on her partial saviors.

She closed her eyes and slowly started to channel her energy into her index finger’s tips.

The raw blue energy pulsed, giving off a soft glow, causing Professor Rensworth to freeze in surprise.

"Such a pure energy... even though the level is so low," he murmured in disbelief, his sharp eyes narrowing as if to confirm he wasn’t seeing things.

The students, who had been watching her with mild curiosity, now leaned forward, their pens forgotten.

"Guys... am I seeing things?" A young lady with long curly purple hair and skin as pale as snow asked. Her delicate features were scrunched up in confusion.

"No, Layla, you aren’t." Wade, a young man with short-styled brown hair, narrowed his eyes; interest was sparkling in his eyes.

"Can you stop? I want to focus!" Betty said with an irritated expression, her long, straight black hair cascading down to her chest, while her sun-kissed skin glimmered under the bright lights.

"I bet three hundred bucks she’s at Yellow Rank!" A young man with pale skin adjusted his spectacles and muttered. He was Richard; though he gave off a nerdy aura, he was a secret Playboy.

"500 dollars; she is at Heaven rank," Fay smirked, resting her chin on her palm as her crimson eyes sparkled with amusement. Her wavy auburn hair framed her sharp, confident face, giving her the air of someone who enjoyed stirring trouble just to see what would happen next.

Richard snorted. "You’re out of your mind, Fay. If she’s really Heaven Rank, I’ll eat my notes."

"Deal," Fay replied instantly, the corner of her lips quirking higher.

"Enough." Professor Rensworth’s voice cut through the air, silencing all of them. His stern expression caused all of them to straighten up.

He turned toward Lana, and his expression softened. "Child, what rank are you?"

"Black," Lana answered a bit hesitantly.

"What the fuck?" Fay’s and Richard’s jaws dropped. Even Betty, Wade, and Layla were taken aback.

"She must be lying, right? Mystic energy at Black Rank is black! Until we reach the Earth Rank, it still looks like evil energy! Otherwise, why would the Black Rank be even called black?" Betty exclaimed in surprise.

"Exactly... Is she lying? But from her clueless expression, I don’t think so." Wade muttered in a low voice.

"Hey... even if her energy is so pure, at least she is way below our rank. She will still be our junior!" Layla chirped in a thrilled voice.

At her words, all of them relaxed. Yeah. At least she won’t be a monster like Quinn.

"When have you awakened your powers?" Professor Rensworth asked Lana gently.
