Chapter 66: Chapter 66

SARAH

We walked side by side, and I took the opportunity to send Hillary an audio message, letting her know that I was going home with Enrico. He heard me say that and smiled, but he didn't comment. When we were already in the car, I got straight to the point.

"What do you have to tell me that could be good for both of us?"

"Lorenzo promised to tell Rachel about the two of you, but I saw that they were still together today, and they seem to be doing well," he said, not answering my question.

"Lorenzo kept his word and told my sister about what happened between us, but they decided to stay together, indeed."

I didn't look at Enrico as I said this because the truth was that I felt embarrassed and frustrated with recent events. I still couldn't understand how Lorenzo came to me and confessed his feelings, I'd even say he made promises, and yet he decided to forget everything and move on as if nothing had happened.

"And who was responsible for telling you this big news?" Enrico was being himself, in other words, cynical. "I saw that you and your sister were talking."

“I reached out to her, just to understand what had happened, and Rachel told me everything.”

Enrico shook his head in a negative gesture, feigning a false expression of disappointment.

"Why did you stop here?" I asked indignantly as he parked the car in front of a restaurant, not Hillary's house.

"Because we're having lunch together," he said casually.

I widened my eyes in astonishment, seeing him get out of the car and make decisions without first checking whether it was really the other person's wish, which was completely absurd.

"Look, I'm not getting out of this car!" I said, stepping out of the car and staring at him angrily.

"And what do you call what you just did?"

"Idiot!" I muttered.

The word "tired" screamed in my mind, telling me that I should take control of my own life and stop being a supporting character in my sister's life, something I had concluded had been happening since we were just children. Yet here I was, clearly being led to do what someone else wanted again.

I need to react!

Thinking this way, I stood my ground, and Enrico, realizing I wasn't following him, stopped as well, looking at me with a questioning gaze and his eyebrow raised.

"You didn't ask if I wanted to have lunch with you, but let me tell you, I don't want to," I said with determination.

Saying that, I crossed my arms and also noticed that I was even tapping my foot, in a manner that I knew was quite childish but intended to show my impatience with the situation.

"It's good that you're finally coming to your senses and starting to make your own decisions, Sarah," Enrico said, clapping his hands in a ridiculous manner.

"What do you mean by that?" It was my turn to look at Enrico with a questioning gaze and raise my eyebrow.

"Let's go inside, and I'll explain everything I have in mind," he looked around, seeming concerned. "We're drawing attention standing out here, and some people are already looking at us. Believe me when I say this, it's not a good thing."

I mimicked his gesture and realized Enrico was right, as a few people passed by, looking at us strangely, indeed. I decided to follow Enrico into the restaurant, as besides being curious, I also knew that leaving and leaving him alone could only lead to more speculations.

It was only when we were seated at the table and had placed our orders that I spoke again.

"I hope this is really important," I said with bitterness. "I'm tired of people stringing me along."

I knew I shouldn't deliver information like that in such a way, but the frustration I was feeling at that moment made me speak beyond what was advisable.

"I know you're not the twin I was with at the club in Seattle, Sarah." I opened my mouth to deny his statement, but he stopped me with a gesture. "There's no use trying to deceive me because I never believed in that nonsense for a moment."

Enrico

Sarah asked the question I had been expecting.

"Why do you think that?"

She was trying to probe whether I was really telling the truth or if my statement was just a bluff. As I gazed at her now, I felt as if I were living something very much like a movie or anything related to fiction, where there was the good twin and the bad twin. At the moment, I was facing the good twin, the one who was easily manipulable by everyone, precisely because she was too gullible and confident that people wouldn't be capable of doing things they were indeed fully capable of. In short, a bland girl with no attitude and no will of her own.

"I don't think," I said firmly. "I'm absolutely sure that it was Rachel I was with, even though that night didn't end exactly the way I would have liked."

Sarah stared at me with a visibly troubled expression, and I waited for her to insist on her lie again, but she probably concluded that denying the truth any further was pointless.

"What do you want to talk to me about, then?" she asked, curtly.

Finally, it seemed like we were making progress, and I chose to tell her as faithfully to the truth as possible about what was happening.

"Look, Sarah, when I saw that Fiori had arrived at Silverstone with Rachel, I immediately believed he was trying to play both sisters," I began to say. "So, I confronted the idiot, and he ended up confirming to me that he talked to Rachel and that even after telling her about what happened between you two, they still decided to stay together."

"He told you that?" she asked, looking anxious.

Sarah's eyes became brighter when she heard Fiori's name, but they turned dull immediately upon learning that he had told me he chose to stay with her sister.

"Yes, he did," I confirmed, not caring at all about her feelings. "Of course, he didn't tell me about it because we're friends or anything. It was only after, let's say, a brief argument."
