Chapter 87: Chapter 87
I couldn’t even look at Athan Buffay! He was so close to me that I could feel his burning gaze falling on my face.
“What are you doing here?” his deep voice sounded lazy.
I stared at the first button of his shirt and said calmly, "none of your business."
what do I do? Has he seen through me? I swallowed nervously, didn't dare to look at him.
Athan Buffay smiled as I talk, and he said softly, "Have you eaten lunch yet?" I shook my head. Maybe it was my obedience that satisfied him, he didn't ask me more questions, but stepped back and said, "good, let's eat together then."
I felt relieved that he let me go so easily, but at the same time I was anxious for Mike and Mona. I have to find Ann West and Thana as soon as possible!
“wait, I need to use the washroom!” I shouted as he opened the door, Athan paused for a second and nodded, “go ahead, I’ll wait outside.”
He wasn’t worried that I would run, he had all of his men in the building. And I wasn’t going to run anyways, I just needed sometime.
After watching Athan Buffay come out of the gate, I quickly rushed upstairs, I remember a few rooms they used to hold people. However there are only gym staff and fitness equipment there. It appears that after that explosion, they redecorated the building. I walked to the door gloomily and saw Athan Buffay leaned against the door pillar with one hand in his pocket. He looked relaxed and didn't seem to notice anything strange about me.
If they weren't locked up here, then...
“Let’s go back to your house first,” I walked past him and caught the car key he threw up in the air, “I’ll drive.”
I opened the driver's door and turned around to find that he was still standing there and squinting at me.
"You coming or you'd rather walk?"
Athan walked down, opened the car door and sat in, he raised his eyebrow and sounded surprised: "what's wrong with you today? I don't believe you came because you wanted to see me."
“Like I said,” I started the car and slammed on the accelerator, “it’s none of your business.”
After a few months, I stood at the gate of this villa again, and my mood was very complicated.
"Go ahead, your fingerprints are still valid." Athan's voice came from behind.
I took a deep breath and entered my fingerprint to open the door. As I entered the house, I saw someone unexpected.
“Katherine?” Finn Clint stood up from the sofa, and his son lucifer was sitting beside him. Lucifer quickly ran to me and gave me a hug: “Auntie Katherine, did you take Lily here?”
His question caught me off guard, and I froze for a moment before saying, "Lily...she's still in the hospital, of course."
Lucifer raised his head and asked innocently, "Then did she miss me?"
"That's enough, kiddo." Athan Buffay pulled Lucifer off of me and threw him to his dad's arms. When I met his eyes, I felt the questioning in his eyes.
My heart was beating fast, so I made up a random reason to get out of there: "I...I left something upstairs, I'll go get it."
Behind me, Finn was talking to Athan in complain: “when are you taking your company back, I have had enough of your sister, she’s pure evil!”
I watched Athan Buffay's face carefully before the elevator doors closed, and he was talking to Finn intently, seemingly oblivious to my actions. Instead of going to the top floor, I pressed the button to the basement. Athan Buffay had two basements, one of which was a huge underground parking lot, but I had never been to the other one.
The elevator door opened slowly, and in front of me was a narrow corridor, and at the end of the corridor was a heavy iron door.
I pushed the door tentatively, and it was locked. So I put my ear to the door, but couldn't hear anything.
"Damn it!" I scolded softly. I have to find the key card!
I went back to the elevator and this time I went straight to the bedroom level. Fortunately, the door to Athan Buffay's room was not locked. After I closed the door from inside, I started looking around for the key card and key.
His room maintained the consistent smell of mint, which calmed my flustered heart a little. His desk was so neat that there was nothing but a few contracts on it. I had no choice but to open the drawer and rummage, when suddenly a touch of silver light caught my eye.
A necklace with a small crescent-shaped pendant was placed in the corner, and I couldn't help being stunned. I picked up the necklace and gently stroked the little silver crescent. He actually found this necklace, but he never mentioned it to me...
A certain part of my heart felt like I had been stepped on, and a warm feeling came over me. I suddenly realized that I couldn't bear to put down this necklace...
"What are you looking for?"
I was taken aback, and with a flick of my hand, the necklace fell to the ground. I turned around to find Athan standing silently behind me, not knowing how long he had been looking at me.
I hurriedly wiped the tears from my face, and he was obviously stunned.
“How long have you been here?” I was so embarrassed.
Athan Buffay leaned forward a little, but didn't end up approaching me. "Why on earth are you here today, Katherine?"
