Chapter 82: Chapter 82
“Have a good sleep sweetheart, mommy will come back tomorrow morning.” I kissed on Lily’s forehead and hugged her.
“Don’t worry mommy, I will take care of myself!” Lily kissed on my cheek and smiled.
“Mommy, do we have to go? I don’t want to leave Lily here.” Mike frowned and said, he was still holding Lily’s hand.
“There’s rules here, honey, and we have to follow them. Don’t worry, Lily will be fine, the nurse will take good care of her.” I put my hand on my little boy’s head and rubbed his hair. He normally doesn’t show his affection toward his sister, but today he seemed very upset for leaving her here.
I tucked Lily in and left the ward with Mike before the hospital curfew, and the nurse was just by the counter outside.
“Please keep an eye on my daughter, she sometimes need to go to the bathroom around midnight.” I said to the nurse.
The nurse smiled and nodded: “don’t worry, I will make sure to check on her at night, and Mr. Buffay has also ordered us to take special care of your daughter, so whenever she need anything we will know right away.”
“Mr. Buffay? How…” how did he have a say in this hospital?
I shook my head and cleared my mind, no matter what he did, it wouldn’t concern me. I thanked the nurse and went home.
However, some things can't be ignored even if you want to, and I tossed and turned all night and couldn't sleep. Maybe I was too worried about Lily, or maybe I was caught off guard by the reappearance of Athan Buffay, I just felt physically and mentally exhausted. Too many things had happened today, Athan actually killed Ann West! Will my father seek revenge on him? Will my Pack go to war against him?
I forced myself to close my eyes, but Athan Buffay's eyes came to my mind. His fierce aura and his sad expression, and what he did to me… Gosh, I kept thinking about that kiss, his breath was so close to me, but I somehow felt his strangeness.
He had never been rough with me, and today was the first time. For a split second, I thought he was going to swallow me raw. But even so, I still wanted to get close to him. His kisses and touches still excite me...
I couldn't help reaching out and stroking the scar on my neck. The two blood holes had stopped bleeding, but they still sting when I touched them.
“Now you smell like me…” When he said that, he sounded both delighted and aggrieved, was he going crazy because of me?
I thought everything could start over, but he found me again. Why, why can't I escape these fetters? Did I really want to leave?
Countless thoughts haunted me until I fell asleep in a daze.
I was on a field. By my side, my children were running happily. We sang and danced together and I never felt so relaxed. Suddenly, the sky was overcast, and the whole world was shrouded in a layer of gray. I looked around nervously, someone was watching us! At a glance, I saw a beast hiding behind a tree and staring at us. It was a wolf staring at its prey! !
I sat up screaming, cold sweat soaking my clothes. It was the feeling of fear, and the wolf in my dream had golden pupils.
I covered my head in pain and couldn't help sobbing. I had a splitting headache, and I just felt as if something in the depths of my soul was about to break through!
The next morning, I hurried to the hospital after sending Mike to kindergarten. Thinking that Lily might have woken up, I couldn't help but quicken my steps, I didn't want my daughter to wait any longer. However, when I opened the door, I heard a burst of pleasant laughter.
Athan Buffay was leaning against the head of the bed, holding a storybook in his hand, looking down at Lily with a smile. My presence seemed to interrupt their conversation, and he kept a warm smile on his face as he looked up at me. He was wearing a light blue shirt and beige slacks, and the casual look made him look very amiable.
"What about the end? Did the prince find Cinderella wearing the glass shoes?" Lily asked Athan anxiously, grabbing his arm when she saw him stop talking.
Hearing her question, Athan looked at her and nodded with a smile: "It took the prince a lot of hard work to find her again."
Lily laughed when she heard the satisfactory ending: "Great, then they will never be separated again, right?"
Athan Buffay looked up and met my eyes, his sudden gaze made me feel awkward. I quickly looked away, and I heard his deep voice: “Yes, the prince hopes to never lose her again.”
I didn't know where to look, so I pretended to be calm and took out the food box I brought, "Lily, mommy brought your favorite breakfast, eggos!"
"You came at the right time, I'm leaving." Athan Buffay stood up and said to Lily, "I'll see you later, little princess."
I turned sideways in embarrassment to make way for him, and when he walked slowly past me, I breathed a sigh of relief. Unexpectedly, he suddenly reached out and touched the scar on my neck, and I couldn't help feeling a shudder.
“Did it hurt?” he asked in a low voice.
I shook my head hastily, but felt as if his eyes were going to strip me away.
My heart didn't slow down until the sound of his footsteps got farther and farther away…
