Chapter 43: Chapter 43
In the realm of South Yarra in Melbourne Australia had been a fast-rising entertainment industry.
This burgeoning entertainment industry had caught Wesley's attention. It was a new industry but it had quickly risen to prominence, even posing a formidable challenge to Finn's Media, the reigning giant in the field of entertainment, becoming a major competitor to Finn's media.
This fast-rising industry is known as Brightlights and it caught Wesley's keen eye.
As a seasoned and astute businessman, he recognized the immense potential it held. With his extensive resources and unparalleled ambition, Wesley had devised plans to invest in and ultimately take over this rising star. Therefore, he started to spread his hooks and dig his claws subtly into this industry.
However, as Wesley delved deeper into the inner workings of Brightlights trying to make thorough research before making his moves, he discovered a dark underbelly of shadowy connections. Then, he began to notice the footprints of the involvement of a powerful figure within the government, none other than his rival and enemy, James Johnson, the prime minister.
Well, seemed like, James Johnson had noticed Brightlights before him but that wasn't stopping Wesley. Besides, he had noticed some shady activities involving the prime minister and what's more, there seemed to be a rising pop singer from Finn's media called Josh who seemed to be a tool used by the prime minister in the involvement of his shadowy activities.
Therefore, Wesley had got a censored cyborg created in the likeness of Josh so he could get to monitor Josh's activities closely, hoping to gather evidence and information he could use against the prime minister.
But then that night, Wesley and Daisy had been set up and Daisy just happened to be a little lucky not to have fully fallen into the trap set for her but fell into Wesley's bed instead.
Josh had got shot that night by some unknown person which has now been linked to this particular lady from the Coasters Josh had always mentioned to Wesley ever since Wesley had him wrapped.
While Wesley was still in the room with Daisy that night, his men, the Croxxed X had calculatively retrieved Josh's body from the water and replaced it with the censored cyborg. After all, they've been involved in this whole entertainment facade right from time and have been acting on Wesley's instructions.
But then, the lady from the coasters had delayed getting Josh's body from the water and therefore, when her men came to get the body, unknown to them that it was a cyborg, due to the long period it had been in the water, the delicate internal components of the cyborg suffered a few damages, compromising its functionality despite how the men from the Croxxed X had tried to protect his delicate inner features.
Nonetheless, Wesley's resourceful team managed to salvage partial data from the damaged tracking device. They traced the cyborg's path before the signal abruptly vanished on the outskirts of the town of South Yarra, leaving them with a tantalizing but incomplete lead.
However, during Wesley's investigation about where Daisy had been taken to by Rose after that night, their findings also led them to a mansion on the same outskirts of town.
Now, Wesley would wait to get the DNA reports tomorrow. If the Rose lying on that bed isn't the prime minister's daughter but an impersonator, then there's every possibility that that person is the Lady from the Coasters who is using Rose's identity to cause havoc.
He had no idea why, the reason and who or what all these are about and really does not know the prime minister's involvement in all of these.
Sarah has been nowhere to be found after she met with Andrew that day. One mistake he made was not getting his men to trail her after getting some to watch Andrew.
At first, Wesley did not really care and was not too bothered but seeing Andrew that way bothered him. And then, there's Daisy he is also beginning to get so worried about.
Since Andrew had been focused on his involvement in separate cases like his boss, Wesley's set up and some other cases involving Maxwell's empire, he is unaware of everything regarding Brightlights, Josh and the cyborg and even Wesley's near success in his investigations. Andrew had also been too fixed on getting back his girlfriend, Sarah.
In his commanding office, Wesley exuded an air of power and authority. He had made up his mind to discuss everything with Andrew once he resumes work tomorrow. Everything he knew and had been doing.
Since they are aiming at the same goal and target, it would be best if they work wholly together.
In the posh restaurant, Josh's hands slowly went to his head and removed his face cap, revealing a bandage tightly wrapped around the back of his head. It concealed the wound from the bullet that night.
When Josh was shot, he was, fortunately, putting on a bulletproof face cap and therefore, the bullet had not penetrated but only given him a grazed minor injury which had been treated by some of the Croxxed X when they took him.
Josh had been checked afterwards by a doctor who had instructed him not to move around just yet, but he never listens. He just wants to get out of Wesley's net even though he does not know how to.
Anyways, he rose to his feet and walked through the scanty restaurant trying to figure out a plan.
He had seen the Lady from the coasters that night and even seen her face. He had been surprised, really surprised.
Nevertheless, he liked her skim and underground method. He really wanted to be on her team.
If only he knows that his attack from that night was her. This Wesley is aware of and since he had promised not to kill him, he'll keep to his promise.
Once he's done with whatever use with Josh, he'll deliver him to the lady and let him die by her hand.
If only Josh knows she wouldn't hesitate to kill him the moment she lays her eyes on him.
He had seen her face after all.
Daisy's limp and unconscious body lay motionless on the stretcher as Mr Louis, Edward, Violet and Cindy rushed her into the hospital's bustling emergency room. Panic etched across their faces, their hearts raced with fear and uncertainty.
Medical personnel swiftly sprang into action and Daisy was whisked away to a ward where a team of doctors and nurses surrounded her. The room buzzed with urgency as monitors beeped in rhythm and medical equipment hummed to life.
Minutes turned into agonizing hours for the trio as Mr Louis anxiously paced the sterile hospital corridor, his mind consumed with worry. Finally, a nurse emerged from the ward and motioned for him to follow.
With his heart pounding, he entered the doctor's office, his eyes filled with fear.
The doctor, seating across and facing his table looked up from the medical files and met Mr Louis's gaze. The silence was suffocating till the doctor spoke.
"Mr Louis, I'm afraid we have some troubling news," the doctor began, his voice a sombre tone cutting through the tension, causing Mr Louis's breath to hitch in his throat. "We've detected the presence of unfamiliar substances in Daisy's system and these toxins are causing significant damage, including some mental impairment."
Mr Louis's eyes widened in shock and his hands gripped tightly on the armrest.
'Toxinss?? In my daughter's body??? Howww????'
'Who are these people after my daughter?'
'Just why??! What did she ever do to them?'
He struggled to find his voice, his mind swirling with a mix of disbelief and anguish. "How... how is this possible?" he managed a stammer.
The doctor's face softened, offering a hint of empathy amidst the disheartening news. "We are doing everything we can to stabilize her condition and counteract the effects of the drugs," he explained with reassurance. "We will flush out every trace of the toxins but it will be a challenging journey, and the extent of the damage is still uncertain."
Tears welled up in Mr Louis's eyes.
"Please, do everything in your power to save her," he pleaded, his voice quivering with emotion. "She's my daughter, my everything."
The doctor nodded, his expression conveying a shared determination. "We will save your daughter, Mr Louis," he assured. "Our team is working tirelessly to provide the best care possible. Be rest assured."
"Who is doing this to you, my princess?" Mr Louis muttered with tears in his eyes as he held onto his daughter's hands who was still unconscious while he sat by her side.
Mr Louis had left the doctor's office with a heavy heart and he was now in his daughter's ward. He had requested a VIP ward for his daughter.
His mind was now swirling with a mix of fear, anger, and a fierce determination to fish out these evil people and make them pay.
Edward, Violet and Cindy all stood by her bed while they stared at the weak and pale Daisy on the bed. They had heard of the news and while they all looked sombre and sad they had different things running through their minds.
Now, Cindy is one hundred per cent sure the doctor Rose had unknowingly brought was from the Lady from the Coasters. But then she could not understand why the Lady had not called since things were beginning to fall into place since morning.
She really wanted to know what step to take again to redestroy things as she is really dissatisfied with this sudden turn of events.
Besides, she needed to tell this doctor, Richard to hide for a while as he might be suspected. She really wishes she had at least gotten his contact the last time she was with him.
True to her thoughts, as Mr Louis stared down at his daughter, he began to think of many things that had happened after that night.
Daisy had told him Rose had got a doctor to check on her and all.
'Rose would never do anything to harm Daisy. It definitely has to be that doctor.'
Anger and hatred flashed in his eyes.
He would look for that doctor and make him confess every misdeed he has done to his daughter.
Edward on the other hand would not stop glancing at Cindy with the corner of his eyes from time to time. He had hatred in his eyes.
Thinking of the whole thing, Cindy is now his biggest suspect.
He did not know if that strange guy from yesterday knows this or any other thing, but he would look for a way to tell him this.
He also does not know if the accident from his anniversary night had anything to do with Cindy but he would make sure she pays if all these are in any way related to her.
Looking back at Daisy now, he felt extremely guilty. His girlfriend had suffered a lot.
