Chapter 30: Chapter 30
Michelle moved back in with Nathan. It looked like a different world to her as she couldn’t recognize nor remember anything. She tried as much as she could but she always ends up hurting her head from overworking her brain, so she made up her mind not to force herself to remember. It would all come back to her in due time.
Nathan tried to spend most of his time at home with Michelle and his daughter by working from home.
Michelle felt fortunate to have a fiancé like him. He really is a loving guy. He told her things about the both of them and their relationship, but it still didn’t help her get any of her memories back.
While in Nathan’s home, Michelle was visited by a man and woman who introduced themselves as Nathan’s parents. The man was really nice, but the woman was trying really hard to distance herself from Michelle but was completely comfortable with the baby, which got Michelle really confused as to why.
Nathan’s parents visited often to see Michelle and her baby and so does her mom, but Derek never came to visit her ever since she moved in with Nathan, making her wonder why.
Michelle now has a chauffeur, who takes her anywhere she wants to. She only goes to see Derek at his place whenever she felt like going out.
It’s bee three and a half weeks since Michelle moved in with Nathan. Nathan has been really busy with work, making him rarely spend time at home. Michelle then thought it best to pay Derek a visit since she called earlier and he told her he was at home and also because she was already feeling lonely in the house.
She asked the chauffeur to get the car ready before she went in to get changed. She wore a red blouse, blue skinny jeans and stilettos. She put some diapers, change of clothes, feeding bottle filled with baby formula and other essentials in a baby bag for Sandra, in case she gets hungry or needs to change. She also got Sandra dressed and off they went to Derek’s place.
Derek was so happy to see them when they got there. He played with Sandra while Michelle decided to take a tour inside his house, hoping it would help her since she hasn’t done it before.
When she was done with the tour, she came back to the living room and saw Derek feeding Sandra. It was so cute seeing them together. Michelle couldn’t help but feel touched anytime she sees them having such moments. She took a seat and quietly watched them.
After Derek was done feeding the baby, she fell asleep.
“You’re really fond of her, aren’t you?” Michelle asked after Derek had placed Sandra in her carry cot.
“Yeah. I love her a lot.”
Michelle smiled at Derek’s reply because it was obvious that he loved his niece a lot, even without saying it.
“So.. are you done with the tour around the house?” he asked.
“Yeah. I must say, your house is beautiful.”
“Thanks.”
They had both designed the interiors of the house when he chose to buy it.
Derek decided to join Michelle on the three sitter couch. She kept staring at his tattoos. They were really beautiful. Nathan had similar tattoos and she liked them. Michelle couldn’t help but trace her fingers on them. Derek was enjoying Michelle’s touch, she had always been interested in his tattoos and hair.
“They’re beautiful.” She muttered as she touched them.
Michelle had no idea how her fingers found their way up to Derek’s hair, gently stroking it. Derek closed his eyes, savoring Michelle’s touch. She was slowly getting him aroused and didn’t even know.
He couldn’t control himself anymore as he turned around, facing her. He slowly leaned in, their lips only inches away. He needed to have a contact with her.
Michelle’s heartbeat quickened due to their close proximity. She had no idea why she wasn’t backing away. Their lips was about to make contact when suddenly Derek’s phone rang, breaking the moment. The atmosphere became awkward.
“Excuse me” Derek said after clearing his throat. He stood up to go answer the phone.
Michelle couldn’t believe that they almost kissed and she did nothing about it. She almost kissed Nathan’s brother and did couldn’t stop him or herself. She had no idea what would’ve happened if it weren’t for that phone call. She tried to distract herself by looking for anything in the living room. She then noticed a photo album on the coffee table, so she decided to take a look at the pictures in it. When looking, she saw photos of her and Derek together. She looked further and the more she did, the more she saw more intimate photos of them which confused her.
‘This is more than a simple friendship.’ She thought to herself.
Derek was through with the phone call, so he went back to the living room. When he did, he saw Michelle looking through his photo album.
Michelle felt Derek’s presence and turned to look at him with clear confusion in her eyes.
“Derek? What were we to each other?” she questioned, turning the album to him.
Derek was speechless. He didn’t know how he was going to explain everything to her. She definitely isn’t going to believe whatever lie he would tell because the photos in her hand was evidence that they were together at some point.
“Derek… answer my question, please.” She quietly said but he could still sense the anger in her voice.
“Michelle.. we, um..”
“Don’t even think of lying to me.. please.”
“We dated.” Derek quietly said.
“And you didn’t think I needed to know.” She carefully asked with her eyes closed as she was trying to contain her anger.
Here she is, trying to remember who she was and the people who claimed they wanted to help were keeping secrets from her.
“Michelle, I’m sorry.” He apologized.
“How could you do this to me, Derek?!” she yelled, forgetting that Sandra was fast asleep.
“How did you think you were going to help me remember who I am when you keep secrets from me?”
Tears were running down Michelle’s cheeks as she talked, she felt betrayed.
“I was going to tell you.” Derek said.
“When? Huh?... When were you going to tell me?... I trusted you Derek, but you betrayed that trust.”
“Michelle, you have to understand. It’s not what you think..” he said walking towards her.
“Don’t even think of coming close to me.” She warned, making Derek halt in his steps.
Michelle angrily walked to the door and opened it slightly, but before leaving, she turned to Derek.
“I should’ve known that none of you were going to help me… You were all lying to me from the very beginning.”
“Please Michelle, don’t think that way.”
“What do you expect me to think?... You all decide to tell me what you want and not what I need to know… You know what? It’s a waste of time being here.” She said and angrily turned, bumping her head on the door. She had forgotten that she had earlier left the door ajar.
“Ouch!” she exclaimed, taking a few steps back. She felt excruciating pain.
Derek rushed to her side, holding her by her arm.
“Are you okay?” Derek worriedly asked.
He noticed that she was already bleeding from the cut she sustained, so he asked her to sit on the couch while he went to get first aid kit to treat her wound.
“What am I doing here?” Michelle suddenly asked just as Derek was done treating her wound, taking him by surprise.
“Where is Nathan?... I thought he was here?” she continued.
Michelle remembered Derek and Nathan getting into a fight. She wondered why she was here alone with Derek.
How did she get here? And why isn’t there any fights?
Nathan isn’t here but her baby is. Sandra is supposed to be at home with her mom.
“Michelle… are you okay?” Derek asked concerned about the strange questions Michelle was asking and the way she was staring at the house.
She abruptly stood up and went over to the couch where Sandra was sleeping. She carefully carried her baby and turned to Derek.
“I’m so sorry, Derek… I’m not supposed to be here. Nathan is going to be mad at me.”
“Michelle, do you remember what happened a while ago?” Derek asked, wondering why she was acting like they weren’t having an argument just some minutes ago.
“Yeah. Nathan found out that we were together during our vacation in Hawaii. He’s really mad about it… I’m sorry but I have to go.” She replied and immediately went out of the house, leaving Derek confused.
