Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Helena grunted. Suddenly, her frustration that had been subsided was back. What was the point of Aaron distracting her if he reminded her back of the source of her resentment? And should he ask the question that she believed he had known the answer to?

His gaze was so intensely fixed on her. However, Helena did not do the same. No, she didn't dare to look back at him. She was afraid to fall on the charm of those eyes, so that tore down her defense and made her show her fragility that always wanted to lean on her husband's chest. But, this was not the right time to do it. She needed her pride to remain steadfast in this absurd situation. Ah, she couldn't even describe her condition. There were too many emotions mixed. Angry, upset, disappointed, hate, exasperation, and great love for her husband.

Unfortunately, she was not the type of person who felt uncomfortable being looked at that way for long. Aaron seemed to express all the feelings of his love through his gaze. There was a promise there, and his readiness and patience faced this problem with her. So, she was melting. Again. "You know for sure the reason," she grunted. Indeed, men could not understand women.

He slowly shook his head. He still looked at her, though she tried to avoid him. "I'm only guessing. But, I want to listen directly to you instead of playing guesses and ending what I'm sure as the answer turns out to be wrong." He reasoned. Yes, misunderstandings often occur due to miscommunication between the parties involved. Saying the meaning was clearly the key to preventing that.

Again, Helena grunted. She was annoyed because, for the umpteenth time, she could not deny his words that were somehow always right. When he was serious, Aaron looked so mature, in contrast to his ignorant behavior. There was only her, who was silent because it was too troubled her to face his temptation.

She hated to admit that but could not deny the truth in her husband's words. So, she lowered her ego that without words to always be understood. It was sad, indeed. How could someone really understand her if she never revealed her thoughts?

"Beatrice." She mentioned a name that disturbed her peace lately.

"What's wrong with Beatrice, hmm?" He asked, still with a waiting expression on his face.

"She often sent you a message all this time," she continued.

"Then?"

Her face bent. Instantly, the embarrassment came to her. Aaron seemed to treat her like a child who had to be guided speaking about her thoughts. "I don't like it," she said softly.

The atmosphere turned quiet. There was no sound coming out of their lips. They seemed to be given time to enjoy this intimate moment--when the silence awoke each other's feelings.

"Hmm," he mumbled. "It's true that Beatrice often sent me a message like that. I don't exactly remember when she began to do that. In fact, I have repeatedly said that I didn't want to discuss anything with her outside the work."

"Maybe you're not firm enough to reject her," she cut, finally turning her gaze to him.

His eyebrows knitted into one, revealing confusion about his wife's words.

"You should say that you're not interested in her at all."

"I thought she would realize about that herself. Even when I can't get a positive response from the person I loved, I'll retreat. Especially after being reminded like that," he said by giving his presuppositions if a similar situation happened to him. From any side, there was no reason to continue the unilateral love.

"I hope she'll give up on her own. Especially now that I'm married and fully become yours." He added by emphasizing the end of his sentence. Ah, his deadly seduction appeared to have begun. But, his words were not merely the persecution without meaning. There were facts about the feelings of his love and his dedication to their relationship.

She grumbled inside. How could Aaron use this opportunity to tease her? And although she was happy to hear that, she would keep the reaction later when the conversation about this problem was over. "In fact, Beatrice doesn't give up," she said, bringing back the focus of their discussion that was almost divided.

"That's it!" He exclaimed. "I'm also wondering why she doesn't stop." Her words reminded him of the afternoon when Beatrice uncovered her feelings in front of his wife. Which woman didn't fire inside seeing that?

Helena shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe she still hopes you'll be tempted." She guessed the only possible reason why Beatrice did not stop approaching her husband. But, Beatrice didn't have pride if she was still expecting something that had belonged to someone else?

He stared closely at his wife. He observed all changes in her face, including when those eyes began to move nervously due to his intense gaze. Then he smiled at her.

"Why?" she asked, a little stammered. She could not hide her nervousness, especially after seeing her husband's smile.

One of his hands moved and pulled her chin slowly. Then he landed a kiss on her lips. In the beginning, it was only a gentle kiss. But then, the kiss turned deep when their lips linked as if they didn't want to be separated from each other.

The kiss was long enough until she decided to end it to fill the air supply in her lungs. It had always liked this. Her husband's kiss always swayed her and almost made her forget herself. And if it was left longer, she believed that she would look messy.

Aaron chuckled to see how bad she was from the impact of their quick kiss. In his eyes, his wife looked so sexy every time they finished kissing. And if it wasn't for his promise to wait for her to be ready, he must have brought Helena to the bed or wherever and satisfied each other's passion. He had to be patient until the time came, or she could run away because she felt forced.

He grabbed her into his arms. He stroked the back of her head gently and channeled tranquility and his love through his touch. "I will always be yours and vice versa. You are mine."

His words that sounded very close in her ear managed to bring back the calm to her. His hands unconsciously tightened his arms as he began to feel comfortable.

"If you used to know about Beatrice's behavior long ago, we would definitely fight often, like now."

"So, you intend to keep hiding that from me?"

"Of course not. I don't want to miss the opportunity to make you jealous," he said, still maintaining their position.

She began to rebel to break away from his arms. But it looked like he didn't want to let go of their physical contact and still let his arms embrace her. "I'm not jealous," she denied, though it didn't sound convincing. How could she be free to express her protest when her body was hugged tightly like this?

"You're jealous."

"No."

"Yes, you're jealous."

"I told you no."

"Come on, you don't need to be embarrassed to admit that." He still didn't want to lose.

"I'm not jealous!"
