Chapter 37: Chapter 37
YASMIN.
I was still riled up about what happened in Hawaii, how could Ruby humiliate me like that? Driving me from their so-called Honeymoon and then posting all those pictures to taunt me. I knew they were staged pictures but it still hurts to see them both like that with all the sweet comments and people out there rooting for their relationship. The hate I was getting daily was unreal, one day these people would hear my story and eat their words but my boo and I were okay so everything was fine.
Toby and I were working out in his private gym when Ruby and Aiden walked in. I was working hard on the treadmill while Toby was lifting weights looking so hot, it was unreal. From my position, I saw her ogle my man so I glared at her.
"What are you doing here? I'm surprised you know what the inside of a gym looks like." I said to her.
"I'm here to work out." She said pointing at her clothes which consisted of a sports bra and yoga pants.
"Oh, so you work out, who would have guessed."
"I'm not in the mood for trouble." She answered shortly, Aiden set the electric bicycle up for her and she began to pedal slowly. I kept up my pace on the treadmill for a while until I had enough, by then Ruby's laboured breathing could reach my ear. I strode over to the bench where Tony had been lifting weights and reached for the bottle of water that was by his feet and took a swig without him taking any notice of me. I traced his line of vision to Ruby's fat ass, "men!" I said, slapping him on his back.
"What was that for?" He asked.
"I saw what you were looking at."
"When has looking ever been a crime." He said, Getting out a laugh.
"Since when are you attracted to fatties?" I asked.
"I'm not attracted to her."
"Yet you were staring at her ass two minutes ago."
"What do you think about those two, are they together or something?" He asked pointing at Ruby and Aiden who were seated side by side at the end of the room as Ruby tried to catch her breath.
"Maybe they are, at least then she can take her eyes off my man." Toby glanced their way again before going to complete his sets.
Aiden stood up first then stretched out a hand to lift Ruby "that's all I can take today." She said.
"I'll just pump some iron then, see you shortly." He said heading towards the bench beside Toby.
I followed her out of the room a few seconds after not to make it look too obvious to the boys that I was trailing her. I followed her to her room, catching the door she had tried to bang shut.
"What do you want?" She barked out aggressively.
"Hey, there's no need to be aggressive, I just want to talk."
"Talk huh? The last time I checked we didn't have much to talk about."
"Well, now we do, you and Aiden huh? What's going on there?"
"None of your business." She replied sharply, making my blood boil.
"Look here bitch, you can't talk to me like that, get out of my face. Don't let the attention you are getting from these men get to your head. They'll drop you faster than you can say jack after they get into your pants."
"You must be speaking from experience." She said with a smirk, "you can be mean all you want but I'll always be in your face, at least, for now." She said laughing in my face.
"Toby can never like you, you will never have him," I said as I tried to convince myself my statement was true and hoped my worst nightmare won't be coming to pass.
"Who says I want him?" She asked.
"You don't have to say it, I can see it written all over you plus Toby is a catch. Everybody wants him."
"I'm done with this conversation so would you kindly leave." She said, I didn't want to wring her neck so I obliged her and left her room.
Preparations were in full swing for the award ceremony I was nominated for, I had virtually spent the last few days in the mall from shop to shop with my stylist/ mother looking for the right jewellery, shoes, bags, hair pieces, even underwear to complement the limited edition designer dresses I had chosen. My dresses were from the Daniels collection, I got first pick on their designs.
"Isn't that the fatty?" My mother said distracting me from the jewellery catalogue I was perusing.
"I looked up to see Ruby through the glass doors of the store we are in the one opposite us looking thoroughly out of place in a store that sold only designer bags and shoes wearing a pair of grey sweat pants and a hoodie with some hideous running shoes on her feet.
"Yeah, that's her," I answered.
"The classless thing," my mother said looking at her with disgust, "couldn't she have changed before having the guts to walk into such an establishment."
"Is that Santiago beside her," I said, recognizing one of the best stylists of our time," she's the best mom, she can make anyone look amazing," I whined.
"Point of correction," my mother said, poking me in the chest and then pointing to herself, " I'm the best."
"With Santiago on her team, she is sure to look amazing." My mother was good but she surely wasn't the best but I was not about to tell her that.
"Santiago owes me a little favour. What if I tell her to sabotage Ruby?"
"That won't work, it's her reputation on the line here. How could she sabotage her client?" I questioned her.
"There has to be something we could do to sabotage her?"
"We'll figure something out," I said, glancing at Ruby and Santiago who were now walking out of the store, shopping bags in hand. Ruby and I make eye contact so I give a little wave and a sickly sweet smile, "she can't embarrass me and go scot-free." I said to my mother.
"She'll be wearing something from the Daniel collection right?" My mother said as her eyes lit up.
"Yh, most likely," I answered.
"It shouldn't be that hard for her dress to be delivered a few hours from the award ceremony with a little mishap, a broken zip, a turned seam, a stain or all three. If we just grease a few palms and boom it's done." She finished with a giggle.
