Chapter 40: Chapter 40
A knock on my door pulled me out of my focus. I pressed the spacebar to pause. The person on the other side didn't wait for my yell to come in. Ren emerged as the door opened.
He smirked at my scowl when he noticed I was not happy that he interrupted me.
"Please. As far as I know you're not even working." He sauntered towards me and stood before my desk. I pressed my back against my chair and relaxed.
"What do you want?" I asked straightforwardly.
"Are you watching her again?" He ignored my question and nodded to my laptop.
I sighed. I propped my elbows on the table, pressing my hands on my face. "I miss her."
Ren smirked as he crossed his arms against his chest. "You always miss her."
I glanced at the video I paused. It was a live performance of famous bands touring around the world. Code:Red was not excluded and it was their performance that I was watching just before Ren interrupted me.
"It's really no doubt that they've come this far." He was staring at the laptop on the table.
I glared at him through my fingers. My long time friend who had now become my best friend, chuckled. "You really should stop sulking, my friend."
I ignored his comment and asked the same question I did when he came to bother me. "What do you want, Taylor?" I withdrew my hands from my face. "If you're here to mock me, the door is always open."
He shook his head with a smile. As soon as his mouth opened to answer me, a little girl barged into my office squealing. "Daddy!"
"Hello there, princess." Ren immediately picked her up and hugged her in his bulging arms. Kaya squealed even more and hugged him tightly with her little arms.
"I am so sorry, sir. I tried to stop her but she's pretty slippery." Stefano's secretary said with worry.
"It's okay. Let her be." She nodded and excused herself.
"You're not being naughty, are you?" Ren cooed, matching a childish voice.
Kaya shook her pretty little head. "No. I promise I'm a good girl." I smiled at their interaction, especially her cute innocent face.
I have been busy for a couple of weeks now, probably more than a month when my sister and her family flew to Italy for business. Stefano left me in charge with no second thoughts. And now I was left with his empire and Avery's blooming business. He would still call me almost everyday for updates though and guide me what to do. I was at least grateful for that. I was glad that I only handled one company among many others he has here in New York. Thank god I have Ren with me or I'm going to lose my sanity. I'm still... sulking over Kyree's absence. I hated the word that Ren described me but I couldn't deny what I was feeling. I truly miss my wife.
Kyree and I married right after having the news she was pregnant. Apparently I got her pregnant the first night we both lost our virginity to each other. My mother was beyond ecstatic and even more so when she won their bet.
I got married before graduation.
Life was pretty hectic for us back at that time. Aside from graduation, Kyree was pretty busy with her band. They finally signed the contract with Darren West and the album they launched hit off the charts. We almost had little time for each other. She was busy working with the album while I had to take care of Avery's business. My sister had to take care of her newborn back then and the fact that Stefano was overprotective of her during pregnancy, I just had to step in. As a good brother, I helped her and at the same time take care of my pregnant wife. Plus the preparation for our wedding.
Before I asked Kyree to marry me, I went to her parents secretly. I didn't tell her my plan to let them know my proposal especially to her stubborn father. Even if he's against me marrying his daughter, I will still marry Kyree and no one even her parents could stop me from that.
From the look on Armond's face, he knew I was as stubborn as him and he had no say in this. It didn't take a lot of convincing, his silence itself was the answer. Christina, her mother, wished us happiness and I know even when she didn't show it on her face, she was beyond happy for her daughter. I didn't tell them that Kyree was pregnant though. I didn't want Armond shitting on me. His reluctant nod was enough.
Everything cooled down after we finally had the baby. Kyree's parents, again especially Armond, softened the first time he saw Kaya. They both fell in love with her. The rift between Kyree and her parents have instantly forgotten. Kaya was literally an angel to us.
But even when everything finally fell into place, I still have to face Kyree's skyrocketed popularity and her in and out of the country whenever they have gigs. It was hard for me at first but I love her so much even more despite the on and off distance we sometimes have. For her, I'm willing to wait a lifetime. I know this is her dream and I'm always the one to always support her and be here whenever she needs me.
"Dad, lunch. Lunch!" She screamed, making Ren shake his head with the unexpected high pitch.
I smiled. "Okay. What does my princess want?" I asked.
"Cake! Cake!" She answered excitedly.
"No cake yet, princess. That's after your meal." Ren informed her for me.
I got up from my chair and approached my little girl. I kissed her chubby cheeks and smiled. "How about spaghetti?"
"I love spaghetti!" She exclaimed. Ren and I chuckled at her little show.
She reminds me of Kyree so much. She got her adorable face from her mother and her beautiful bow lips while she inherited my brown hair and green eyes. If Kaya would have gotten my face, she would've looked like Avery and that woulda been hilarious.
"Well then, let's go. What about you?"
Ren nodded. "I'm hungry. Let's save business for later."
I chuckled as I shook my head. I didn't get Kaya from him since he always loved carrying her. Kaya is pretty close with Ren and I'm happy with their relationship. He is like a second dad to Kaya.
We waited for the elevator to come up as Ren explained to me why he visited me in the office. I was not quite happy that it was about business again. I really just want to have a breather even for half a day.
The elevator door opened as soon as it arrived. My eyes widened at the sudden impossibility before me.
Her smile was so wide it was splitting her beautiful face. My mouth hung open unable to close.
"Mommy!" Kaya screamed behind excitedly.
Kyree ran towards me and embraced me in the tightest hug she could get. Her legs wrapped around my hips along the way. I was still shocked though. I was frozen and unable to respond. The tour took three whole months and I missed her so damn much.
"Sweetheart." I whispered as I finally got my brain back. My arms wrapped around her even tighter than what she did. I smelled her sweet and intoxicating scent. I have been starved by her and it was making me insane.
Kyree withdrew her face from my neck and kissed me with fervor. And I did more than that.
"Close your eyes, little one." I heard Ren from behind.
"Mommy, what about me? I want hug too." Kaya interrupted.
We both let go, kissing each other before chuckling. Kyree sauntered towards Kaya who was still carried by Ren.
"How's my baby doing? Were you a good girl, Kaya?" My daughter nodded. Her pony tails bobbed so cutely. Kyree picked her up from Ren. She kissed her pink cheeks.
"How are you here?" I asked, still in disbelief at her sudden appearance.
"It was our last tour last night but I missed you two so much so I flew straight away. Dustin will handle the aftermath. He understands." My grin was stable on my face. Kyree walked to my side as the three of us hugged, squishing Kaya in between just as she liked.
Ren shook his head with a small smile. "God, you two. I need to reevaluate my life." We both laughed.
"I'm sure you'll find someone who'll tend your cold heart." Kyree teased him.
He rolled his eyes. "Speaking of which, it's your best friends' wedding anniversary this Friday and since you're here, would you like your presence to be a surprise for them?"
My wife nodded. She then grinned, sparks on her eyes are visible. "Yes, I plan on that so I'm gonna stay at home for a while to avoid getting caught."
Ren shifted his attention to me. "You're not going to be here for a few days, are you?" I smirked. "Figures." He mumbled.
"Oh, right." Kyree chirped. "Staying out of sight means I won't be able to shop for their present. Would you be kind to do so for me, Mr. Taylor?" She wiggled her eyebrows playfully.
"As you wish, my lady." He shook his head, suppressing a smile. "I'm starving. You better treat me some good food, Whites." He walked inside the elevator. We followed him as Kaya screamed spaghetti numerous times.
"Yes, princess. We'll have your spaghetti soon." I kissed her cheek. She squealed with laughter and excitement.
Kyree was staring at me. I stared back at her. I leaned to her ear and whispered. "Want to make another Kaya?" I smirked as I pulled back.
She rolled her eyes. "You already did." My eyebrows furrowed. "Couldn't even jump on the freaking stage." She looked at me with a raised brow.
I only stare at her.
My eyes were now wide and shocked as I realised what she meant..
"Fuck." I could feel Kyree's glare at my curse.
"What?" Ren asked in alarm. He stood straight from leaning against the wall.
I turned to him, still with the same expression. "She's fucking pregnant."
"Keelan! There's a child in here!" She smacked my arm.
Ren smiled. "Well, then, would you like a detour after lunch?"
I nodded absentmindedly. I was still shocked but I felt the elephants in my stomach stomping. I returned my sight to my wife. I put my hand against her neck and kissed her. She returned it with equal happiness and excitement just as she could feel mine.
"Ewww~" Kaya screamed and tried to separate our faces. I could hear Ren's chortle from the background.
"I fucking love you." I whispered against her mouth.
"Keelan!"
She's so beautiful even when she scowled, I kissed her even more.
"Fuck."
Our eyes widened at Kaya's first curse.
