Chapter 34: Chapter 34
"I'm not going to bet you with that. I already know that. Let's just bet when." Avery replied arrogantly.
"One hundred dollars after graduation!" Keith suddenly yelled.
Oh. My. God. What's happening here?
"Five hundred, courtesy from my husband, year after next year." Avery said.
"I can't go further than five hundred. One hundred, before graduation." Alanna said.
Keelan grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the awkward situation.
"Hey, where are you going?" Avery asked as soon as she noticed us leaving. Keelan just ignored them.
"Keelan, come back here. We still haven't properly talked with Kyree." It was his mom's turn to call. I watched Keelan roll his eyes.
"Now tell me. What did you actually give to my sister?" He asked as he dragged me back to the garden.
I laugh at his curiosity. I thought he got over that when I didn't answer him earlier. "I gave her a matching red lingerie." Keelan scrunched his nose.
"I shouldn't have asked. No wonder you didn't answer."
I giggled. "You're so stupid."
I realized that he brought me to where Ren was. He was eating alone at a cocktail table with a non-liquor drink. I noticed the food was all sweets and I'm pretty sure Keelan asked him to get all those. He has major sweet tooth. That confirmed my thoughts when we reached the table and Keelan thanked him and immediately grabbed a tart.
The rest of the day went really great. Avery made sure to introduce me to everyone before lunch was served. I met her two best friends Sierra and Jenna. Once again, I was in love with another child, Sierra's son. The little angel's name was Cade and he was so handsome and adorable like his parents. I managed to hang out with him a little bit when Avery was absorbed in their conversation.
And when lunch was finally served, Avery and Stefano made a toast. It was pretty obvious that Avery was more excited with the announcement than her existing birthday celebration. When she finally told them that they were expecting another child soon, everyone erupted in cheers and congratulations. Alanna and Keith had huge smiles on their faces, especially Alanna. She was so excited for another grandchild. Stefano's parents were very ecstatic as well. Another heir for their empire for sure. The pride and joy could be written all over their faces. Some of the couple's friends and relatives were also teasing them playfully. It was Stefano's friends and some of his cousins who were into teasing him the most. They said he was moving really damn fast and that it was hard to keep up. Stefano just scowled at his friends' antics but his joy and pride could not be overwhelmed with anything. They were both happy and it made me so happy to join this occasion, too. This is definitely a party that I will never forget and I'm willing to always go.
After the main event, everyone went to chill. Some played board games, talked in groups and even played on the lawn with random sports like football. The children were playing with each other. Cade and Luca were there too. I really wanted to hang out with the two angels but they held me back. Keelan's parents made sure that I hung out with them. When Keelan realised that his parents were embarrassing him, he left. At first, he wanted to bring me with him but his mom was not having it so he left with Ren instead. I felt Keelan's frustration when we both realized that we're not going to have a chance alone together. I can see it in his frown and how his lips were curled down. It was actually pretty funny but I know that this kind of gathering will only happen once in a while. We'll have a lot of chances to be alone together.
This day just made me so happy. I never experienced this with my family. The parties they went to were all just for business and I hated it so much. I want a real family like this with real friends who really support you. Well, I have real friends and I love them so much too and I wouldn't change a thing about it.
"Come on. I'm gonna show you something." Keelan popped up beside me. He reached for my hand and took it. We were lounging in the living room with liquor and snacks at the center table, enjoying the night with the rest of his family. Everyone has already gone home. Stefano and Avery's parents stayed. I was the only guest left. Even Ren already left. It's hard to leave when Alanna keeps having me by her side and always initiates conversation. I felt like I have already told her my life in the span of eight hours.
"Keelan." Alanna interrupted as soon as I was about to get up from the couch.
Keelan rolled his eyes. "Mother."
"Alanna, leave them be. You already have your time with Kyree all day. It's her boyfriend's turn now." Keith chided his wife.
"Fine." She whined like a brat.
"I remember how Avery and I were undeniably close before Stefano took her away from me." Angela, Stefano's mother, reminisced while smiling at us. I can't help but smile too before Keelan dragged me away from them. We excuse ourselves before leaving. Their conversation thinned. I heard Stefano trying to defend himself about not stealing Avery from her. Sometimes when I witness how much he loves his wife, it gives me butterflies in my stomach. I guess true love even affects its surroundings.
We stopped by a huge double door. Keelan opened it with ease. I realized it was a library. There were sofas in the middle, a desk near the window, there was also a potato couch in the corner. I wonder who loves reading in the family.
I walked towards the grand piano sticking out in this room.
Oh my god. It was beautiful and grand.
"Is this why you brought me here?" I asked him while touching the piano, feeling amazed.
He nodded. He was already standing behind me.
"Play for me." He whispered.
I grinned in zest. "What do you want me to play?
