Chapter 74: Chapter 74

Skye's POV

I was angry at her. Why would she disobey me and carry out the thoughts in her mind? I pulled her arm and practically dragged her into the pack house and into the room.

As usual, she flared up. "Why did you drag me in here like a common criminal? Aren't you aware I'm pregnant?" She asked in anger.

"If you had that thought in your mind, you won't have done what you did," I said to her in anger.

"It was an innocent training for fuck sake!" She yelled at me.

"Now lower your tone woman and don't use that language on me ever again," I warned her sternly.

She mellowed and looked away. "I just wanted to know how it felt again." She said.

Despite my anger, deep down in my heart, I was proud that she could still defend herself and kick butt. Still yet, I was worried she was stressing herself and the baby.

"You disobeyed me despite my instructions," I said to her.

"It was an innocent training." She said adamantly.

"That innocent training could have caused more damage to you and the baby. Training requires energy and you're draining yours out on it." I said to her.

"At least, I whipped some people." She said proudly.

"They were taking it easy on you because you're their queen and a woman," I said to her and she scoffed in disbelief.

I grabbed her shoulders. "Listen to me, do not attempt to make such a silly decision again," I said to her and she stood there staring at me. A look that made me believe more disobedience was yet to come from her. "Why are you so stubborn?" I asked her in exasperation and walked out of the room to avoid an argument.

I walked down the stairs and saw Robin. "The shadow pack has sent a letter." He said when I got closer to him. I read the letter and I turned to Robin. "Ready a few warriors, let's take the shadow pack unaware," I said to him and he nodded and walked away.

The weapons were arranged in the car and I went back the stairs and found Ava asleep. I tucked a wayward strand from her face and kissed her head. "I'll be back soon," I whispered and walked out of the pack house.

Robin was standing in front of the car, dressed in his battle uniform. I shook my head. "No Robin. You'll stay in the pack house. Both of us can leave the pack house. I don't want to raise Ava's suspicions." I said to him.

He shook his head. "No, Skye. We always fight alongside. I won't let you go alone." He said. I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Believe me, Robin, you have to stay," I said. He persisted but I finally persuaded him to stay behind and with a grudge he did. I and four of the warriors got into the car and drove away.

The route to the Shadow pack territory was narrow and shady and the woods were thick with bushes. I packed the car far from the meeting spot with Dalton and we all got out and stealthily crept into the forest. There Dalton stood under a tree, his back against us. My men were hiding in the corners of the trees.

"I knew you'd come." He said. "I knew you had a soft spot for me." He said.

"Guess again," I said and he turned sharply in surprise.

"Well then, I guess I came prepared." He said and soon I was surrounded by the shadow pack warriors. Dalton chuckled. "Ava doesn't know she has sent her husband to an early death." He said.

I gave a small smile. "You're quite cunning aren't you?" I asked him and he laughed. "Unfortunately you're not the only one with such a mind," I said and an arrow was fired and one of the shadow pack men dropped dead and the troop scattered as we engaged in battle.

Arrows were flying everywhere and a few of the shadow pack warriors dropped dead. I swung my sword, slashing through every shadow pack warrior that came my way. An arrow shot through the air and pierce right through my arm. I groaned as I stumbled back. I looked towards the direction it came from and saw it was a shadow pack warrior and before he could fire again, an arrow hit him right in the head from one of my men.

Dalton pushed me to the ground as he mocked me. I groaned as my men were rounded up by the shadow pack.

Ava's POV

I woke up with a little pain in my stomach. I walked down to the kitchen to take an aspirin.

After that, I noticed Skye was not in the house or anywhere around it. I sighted Robin. "Where's Skye?" I asked him.

"He stepped out just a bit." He said and I nodded and walked to the living room.

Hours passed and Skye was not yet home. I had a feeling something was wrong and I began to panic. I walked outside the pack house and saw Robin pacing about.

"Where's Skye?" I asked him again and he hesitated. "I know you know where he is," I said to him but he remained silent.

"Speak!" I yelled in authority.

He was taken aback for a second. "He's in the territory of the shadow pack." He said and I stared at him in shock.

"How's that possible?" I asked him.

"A letter came for you a few days ago and Dalton threatened to declare war on the crescents if you refused to see him and Skye ensured you didn't know." He said.

I panicked. "Why didn't you tell me?!" I yelled at him.

"He wanted to handle the issue by himself." He said.

"A message should be sent to my uncle. We'd need his help to get there. I'm afraid something must have happened to him." I said worriedly and he nodded and went to crescent woods. Skye, if you can hear me please be fine. I said and blinked away the tears stinging my eyes.
