Chapter 95: Chapter 95
KATHERINE
The high-pitched sound of a cellphone ringing, had Katherine scrambling up from the bed in anger and muttering swear words at the same time.
The second she opened her eyes, the harsh sunlight rays beaming from the window, had her squinting her eyes and she half yelled in fury and irritation.
Just who was calling her now? Who the hell was disturbing her, this early morning? She wondered to herself, her gaze stopping on the clock nearby and she saw that it was almost 10am.
How the hell had she slept for so long? Damn it! She knew the answer to that question all to well, and even as her still blurry eyes adjusted to the light streaming in the room, she could see the littered bottle of drinks, and the scattered clothes strewn about.
Last night had been one hell of a night, and even though she could remember bits and pieces as she was now recovering from an impending hangover, Katherine knew she must have passed out so late to be waking up by this time.
She was tired too, and her body ached albeit pleasantly too.
Glancing at her bedside, just as she expected, there lay the strange one night stand guy she’d picked up from the bed, and he was still asleep, snoring with his mouth wide open.
Scrunching her face up in disgust, Katherine began to drag the heavy blanket duvet with her, as she tried to reach her phone.
“Stop dragging the sheets. Give me some she…” The man started to say, but Katherine paid no heed, and standing up with the blankets all over her body, she stared at his otherwise naked body and hissed in response.
Her cell phone rang again, vibrating in her hands and finally Katherine stared down at the device, curiosity filling her. She wanted to know the motherfucker who had… It was the leader of her gang. The men she’d hired to trail after that bitch, and instantly she remembered that today was the day Madison would be kidnapped.
“Fuck!” Katherine cursed out loud, swiping the answer button and placing the phone on her ear.
She’d completely forgotten about today. Damn, how had she?
“Hello ma’am.”
“What’s up? Yes, talk to me.”
“We’ve been trying to reach you since ma’am and…”
“What is the matter? Now I’ve picked, what’s the issue?” She snapped wittily, cutting through his speech rudely and letting out a hiss at the same time.
“I was calling about business. We’re kidnapping the lady today, because she’s traveling today too.”
“Yes yes I remember…” Katherine mumbled, her hands going to her forehead and as she calmed herself down she finally said out an apology, “I’m sorry I didn’t pick earlier. Had a stressful night, and I’ve been asleep.”
“No problem ma. It’s okay.”
“Good, so as you were saying? Let’s get down to business shall we? How’s the plan going? Is everything in place already?”
Answering positively, Katherine listened as the man went on and on about how they’ve been some miles away from Madison’s house for hours now, waiting for her to leave.
“She just left some minutes ago, after bading farewell to her neighbors and some other people. We have her tracked, and now our car is following hers. We’re waiting for the right time to strike and then overtake.”
“Good, good.” Katherine replied all to eagerly, her adrenaline pumped and in her head she could already imagine how the kidnap would take place.
With a gun to the bitch’s head, she would have no other choice but to follow her kidnappers, and at the thought Katherine chuckled darkly.
“One more thing ma’am.”
“Yes?”
“The cab driver… should we kill him, or should we spare his life? I think we should let him…”
“Kill him.” Katherine deadpanned, not even thinking twice about it before continuing, “I can’t have anything going south, and should you keep him alive he might recognize you guys, or even the motor license plate and he could go tell the police. So finish him off.”
At first the phone went dead silent, and Katherine thought the man had hung up on, but after a while he then said, “Okay. You have a valid point. We’ll finish him off.”
“Good. Just be careful, and make sure everything is carried out well okay.”
“Okay, got it!”
“Yeah. When the mission has been carried out successfully, and you’ve taken her to the warehouse, don’t hesitate to call and inform me. Make sure she’s blindfolded all through the journey too, and when you guys get there, you can begin her torture. I already stocked the place with various tools, so you can punish her well.”
“Okay ma.”
“Yes, goodbye and take care.”
“Goodbye.” The man said, and hanging up the phone went off.
“Phew…” Katherine let out the ragged breath she’d been holding and then she began to squeal in excitement.
Her gaze flying to the bed, irritation coursed through Katherine when she saw that her fuck buddy from the night before was still sprawled on the bed, still snoring out loud without a care in the world.
It was almost 11am and the useless thing was still asleep.
Storming over to the bed, and grabbing a bottle of water she saw nearby, Katherine corked open the bottle and sprayed the water on the sleeping man’s face without even thinking twice.
It didn’t take seconds for him to wake, and scrambling up helplessly, his hands swiping at his wet face, he blinked confused as he stared at her, a frown on his face.
“What was that for?” He barked, and Katherine hissing out loud yelled back at him, “That was for staying asleep up till this hour. You need to get your things, and leave my hotel suite.”
“Is that how you treat your partners and?…”
“You say what? Partner? You’re a one night stand to me, and nothing else. And before you say you did me a privilege, I brought you over to this room and paid for all the things we both enjoyed last night. As it is you have overstayed your welcome, so get dressed and leave.”
“What the fuck!” He cursed, his gaze falling down to his naked body and even though he was sporting a heavy morning erection, Katherine just couldn’t care less about it.
She needed him to pack his things and leave. She had so much to do today, and she also had to prepare should in case her men called to give any update.
“But… but…” The man began to stutter, clambering down the bed as he began to look for his clothes.
“Just stop with the stammers please. Get your things and freaking leave.”
“Will you stop shouting? I’m trying to put on my clothes for goodness sake.” He replied after some time, and Katherine just rolled her eyes as she stared at him, waiting impatiently.
He slurred and fumbled with his clothes, taking ages to finish dressing up and Katherine could only look without saying a thing.
He was likely sporting an hangover, so she couldn’t blame him for the behavior.
When he was done, he grabbed his shoes and just as Katherine stood up to lock the door, ready to see him off, he turned around and asked. “What about the money for the drugs? The cocaine and ice we had last night? You told me to get from my friends, that you were going to pay later right?”
“Do I still have to pay for that? You had a taste of it too right? We both enjoyed ourselves last night, so why should I pay? I paid for the drinks, and I should still pay for the drugs too?” She asked defiantly, her brows shooting up as she folded her elbows waiting for him to reply, and surprisingly he did.
“Of course you did. A deal is a deal. I never wanted to get high on drugs even after I told you countless times, but you insisted on it and you did say you were going to foot the bill. If you don’t, well I would have no other choice but to tell my friends and they’d just come over here and get the money from you. Or should I say deal with you?” The young man finished with a snicker, and a chill ran through Katherine’s spine as she recalled the friends he was obviously talking about.
She’d seen them at the club that night. Hefty looking tatted men, and they were the last people she would even want to mess with.
Coupled with the things she was taking care of now, she just couldn’t add more to her plate at the moment.
“Fine!” She scoffed, and walking to her purse she opened the lid, and brought out a wad of neatly bundled dollar and pound bills.
Throwing the stack at him, she walked past him to the door, and swinging it open, she muttered exasperatingly, “Now will you just get out!”
“Yes, yes I will.” He smirked, and just before he left, he blew Katherine a kiss and then said, “Between you tasted so sweet last night. I had a good time and you can be sure to hit me up again, if you want more. You’d always find me at the bar and…”
Katherine didn’t wait for him to finish, when she banged the door on his face.
“Good riddance!” She mumbled inwardly, and dragging her tired as fuck body back to the bed, Katherine plopped her ass on the soft foam.
Letting out a snicker, a squeal, and then diverting into a full blown laughing spree, Katherine fell back on the bed as she began to chuckle heavily.
Oh well… What a morning?
…….
“Hope I won’t be late for my journey? What kind of damned traffic is this?“ Madison half cursed, her anger and frustration getting the best of her as she stared out of the car window.
They’d been stuck in traffic for the past 30 minutes and Madison, was beginning to fear that she might miss her flight, if the traffic didn’t ease anytime soon.
She had just an hour to leave this God forsaken country, and now being trapped in this traffic holdup wasn’t what she’d bargained for at all.
Maybe she should have left earlier. Probably by now she would have been at the airport, and not inside this car, feeling so much heat trickle since her body, as time flew by.
“I’m so sorry ma. I think the traffic warders are doing something to handle the situation.” The driver at the front seat said, assuring her a bit and Madison could only let out a sigh.
Closing her eyes briefly, and enjoying the cool breeze that flew in the car, Madison let out a yelp the second she felt the car move, and then she opened her eyes quickly.
The traffic was receding and cars were moving.
Holy moly! Oh yes! She inwardly squeaked, murmuring a prayer of thanks to God in her heart.
The car started to move, and as soon it was evident that everywhere was free, the cab driver increased the ignition speed, racing faster wanting to get Madison to the airport on time, and she couldn’t be more grateful.
She became lost in the myriad of her thoughts again, when suddenly her phone began to ring in her small handbag and fishing it out, Madison swiped the answer button with a small smile, as she said softly, “Hello Alvarez, What’s up?”
“Maddie…” He began and she could hear the worried tone in his voice as he continued, “How have you been?”
For a second, Madison wanted to halt her response and ask if everything was okay with him, but she thought again it.
A wide smile still plastered on her face, she replied, “I’ve been fine, and I am fine. How’s Ivy, and your pretty wife. Is she still pregnant?” She finished, already curious.
“Ivy is fine Maddie, and my wife is still pregnant. I did tell you that when she gives birth, I won’t hesitate to tell you first and I haven’t forgotten that promise. She just had a labor scare some days back, but she’s okay now.”
“Oh jeez… Hope she’s fine now right?”
“Yes, yes she is.”
“I’ll be praying for her and all of you.” Madison mumbled after a while and Alvarez just thanked her softly.
The phone became silent and somber for a while, with Madison thinking about telling Alvarez of her trip but she couldn’t let it spill out now.
Besides there was a hundred percent chance that he would tell Damien about her whereabouts and she just didn’t want anything to spoil her plans today at all.
She dropped her lips open to say something, but he beat her to the chase when she heard him ask, “I was deeply worried about you Maddie. I’ve been trying your cell phone since last night, but you didn’t pick up. What’s wrong? Hope you are fine?”
“Oh Alvarez…” She trailed of, tears gathering at the corners of her eyes. She’d felt it within her when she heard his voice that he was worried about something, and now he’d just voiced it out.
“I… I…” She wanted to tell him that she was packing up for her trip, and had switched of her cell phone, but thinking otherwise at the last minute she said instead, “I… My phone had some issues. Only repaired it this morning and I didn’t see your missed calls. I would have called. I’m so sorry.”
“Oh…” He paused and then all of a sudden he asked, “Madison?”
“Yes?”
“Have you talked to Da… No! Why do I feel like you’re hiding something from me?”
“Huh?” She countered, trying to feign ignorance but she knew it was useless because Alvarez would deduce it definitely.
He’d always been able to know when things weren’t going all to well for her, or when she was worried about something and keeping it from him. Now he basically knew she was really hiding something from him, and Madison knew he would continue pestering until he got an answer.
“You know what I’m talking about Maddie. I can hear the worry and hesitation in your voice. You know you can always talk to me right?” He finished, assuring her with his question and Madison just sighed.
She looked up at the road, and seeing that the road was free now and the card drove ahead speedily, she felt a small sense of relief course through her, and returned her attention back to her call.
How would she tell him, that she was currently on her way to the airport? How would she tell him that she was leaving London for good and…?
“Madison, you aren’t saying anything and…”
“Actually I’m leaving.” She blurted out all of a sudden, a chill running down her spine as she said those words and her chest thumped incessantly.
“What are you talking about? You’re leaving to where? Why? When? I don’t…”
“Yes you won’t understand and…” The phone she was holding clattered to the floor, when suddenly a large tinted vehicle hit theirs from behind.
“What the?” Madison started to mumble, already panicking when suddenly she heard gunshots, and felt herself getting thrown hard onto the car floor by an impact.
She felt numbness and confusion rush over her, as her head began to spin and throbbed from the impact of the blow.
Her vision was suddenly trying to get blurry, and as she slowly opened it, she saw that the window of her car was shattered, and she also noticed that the car had stopped moving.
She scrambled to get up, her hands gripping the car seats for support, but just as she did so she heard another round of gunshots firing, and her nose sniffing Madison’s eyes widened when she saw that the driver had been shot dead.
The car was already open, and the poor man laid on his seat, head overturned as blood gushed from the side and the sight made Madison almost puke.
It was only then, that she realized just how close she was to death, with the cold metallic smell of blood permeating her nostril increased all the more.
She heard a loud whirring sound in her heard, as the shots continued getting fired, and her whole body shaking and trembling in fear and agony, Madison heard some strange voices and then she saw them.
They were about three or four and they had their faces covered with black masks. Hefty guns were on their arms, and just before she could hide or do something, the door of the back seat where she was in flung open, and then the worst happened.
“There she is. Drag her out!” One of the men yelled, the same time she saw another one of them position the head of his gun to her face and before she could say a word, he’d already hit her with it.
Madison felt her consciousness fading fast, and as she tried to fight the darkness creeping up upon her, her head ached so much and she could no longer see a thing.
Hissing silently, feeling her body dragged about helplessly like she weighed nothing, dark stormy images overclouded her eyes, and without a word whatsoever she passed out.
