Chapter 273: Chapter 273
Liara saw a man in his early fifties sitting on the stool. He had held Ethlyn’s hand, and his head was resting on Ethlyn’s bed. She could guess that he would be Ethlyn’s father. She couldn’t imagine the pain of a father watching his daughter in this state.
Anyone at his place who had bid their final goodbye to their family members because she had read Ethlyn’s case. All the doctors had already said that she could never recover.
So, waiting for his daughter to wake up from his deathbed for this long was really a big thing.
She cleared her throat, hoping him to wake up, and the same thing happened. Her father opened her eyes and looked at her.
“Umm.. Doctor Wayne?” He asked in confusion because the only person he hadn’t met was her. He learned what had happened when he had reached here with his family. The fact that the doctor who was going to treat his daughter fell into a deep sleep was one of the pieces of news that he didn’t want to hear.
Hell, it had been years since he had heard something good from any doctors. “It’s good to see you in person, and I’m glad that you’re fine now.”
“Thank you.”
“Oh, I forgot to introduce myself; I’m Christian Smith, former Beta of Wind Winder Pack.”
“Hello, Beta Christian; I’m Doctor Liara Wayne.” Liara greeted him with respect and reached near Ethlyn to check on her. She couldn’t sense her wolf. “How did this happen?” She questioned.
“Her leg slipped, and she fell down from the cliff,” Christian replied. Liara raised her brow at his half-information. No werewolf could reach this condition until and unless he or she didn’t have a wolf to protect her or him. “Actually, she was pregnant at that moment, so her wolf’s main focus was on saving the life of her pup.” He added, to which Liara nodded her head in understanding why Ethlyn was in this situation.
Either her wolf would have sacrificed herself to save her pup or… or the nerve that connects humans, and the wolf of werewolves would have been damaged because of which Ethlyn’s wolf couldn’t use her power to heal her.
Well, the situation was a rare case because most of the time wolves ended up sacrificing their life. And also, not everyone knew how to operate the second situation, except Doctor Stark, who died years back, and she had assisted him in that case.
“So, how is her pup? Might it be hard to handle him or her without his or her mother?” Liara asked casually.
“Her pup couldn’t make it,” Christian replied, to which Liara looked at him suspiciously to smell whether he was lying or telling the truth. And what she could all figure out was that he was telling the truth.
“Really? When a mother wolf sacrificed her life to save her pup, and you’re telling me that she failed?” Liara questioned sternly, controlling all her emotions. Roselet’s innocent face kept flashing in front of her eyes. She was perfectly fine and alive. How could Ethlyn’s pup die, then?
Why couldn't she smell lie from his words?
That was when she doubted that might be… might be there wasn’t only one pup but pups. And her doubt was confirmed when she saw the hesitation in Christian’s eyes while he replied to her.
“Yes!! Unfortunately, she failed.” Christian responded and hoped that she wouldn’t ask any further questions from him, and Liara did the same. She didn’t ask any questions.
It wasn’t her matter, to begin with.
But that didn’t mean she wouldn’t tell Calvin about it. She would tell him about Ethlyn.
First, she had to fulfill the duty of the doctor.
“Will she be fine? I heard that you’re not just a successful doctor but also a healer.” Christian asked her hopefully.
“I’m not sure exactly, but there is a fifty percent chance that she will be fine. The rest I can say after running all the tests and operating her.” Liara responded, to which Christian nodded his head, smiling hopefully. He quickly minds linked his mate and his younger daughter, informing the same, who were staying at the hotel that was built near the hospital so that family members of the patient could stay there.
Christian wasn’t expecting such a great facility at this place, but then, no one was expecting a well-known doctor at this place.
