Chapter 1559: Chapter 786: Gang Brawl
“Who wins or loses, what does it have to do with us? Thirty years ago, when the Ferocious Tiger Gang controlled here, we lived in poverty.
Under the dominance of the Brotherhood of Sword Spike for thirty years, our lives haven’t changed at all, and I believe it would be no better if the Laiserman took over.
It’s said that the true rulers of the Laiserman Kingdom are those mysterious and cruel witches. The reason the Laiserman Kingdom is so barbaric is because they worship so-called Totem Spirits, trying to keep the entire land in its original state as much as possible. They don’t allow the Laiserman to build their own cities, lay down their own roads, or even wear too much clothing, all for the so-called closeness to nature.
It’s said that countless elderly and weak Laiserman freeze to death every year, yet they call it natural selection.
Do you really want to live such a primitive and savage life?”
“I agree with the first part of what you said, but the claims about the Laiserman Kingdom are pure rumors. Although those Laiserman witches are indeed strict, they are not as cruel as you say. The Laiserman voluntarily follow them and willingly adhere to that way of life, just like the residents of the Great Valley who choose to integrate into nature alongside the Druids.
For many years, they have been dedicated to resisting Cesk’s invasions and have never attacked neighboring countries. Many Laiserman come to the Great Valley to survive the winter, maintaining self-sufficient pastoralism and have never plundered from the locals.
They have never done so before, and I believe they will not in the future. The relatively peaceful life in the Great Valley is also thanks to them.
If they wanted to seize control of the City of Usmer, they would have already started a war with the Brotherhood of Sword Spike, rather than wait until now.
Their actions now are mainly for the grain at the port, which I believe is vital for the Laiserman Kingdom.
The Brotherhood of Sword Spike’s actions have hit them where it hurts, forcing them to act.
They likely have little interest in controlling the City of Usmer.”
“I hope so. There’s no point in thinking too much; this matter is beyond our influence. Regardless of who achieves the final victory, we can only passively accept it.”
The ordinary people of the City of Usmer were extraordinarily perceptive, retreating into their homes before the conflict between the two sides fully erupted, especially those residing along the main road, who observed the situation from behind narrow gaps.
Though the Brotherhood of Sword Spike held the home advantage, apart from those directly connected to them, other people’s hearts were not with them, as their past actions were overly greedy and harsh.
However, there is endless worry about the Laiserman. Even to a neighboring place like the Great Valley, the Laiserman Kingdom is a relatively closed and mysterious place, not particularly well-received, especially their lifestyle, which is exceedingly harsh and difficult for most intelligent beings to adapt to.
The Brotherhood of Sword Spike had rich experience in street battles, and they did not attempt to block the Laiserman along the streets. Doing so would only disperse their forces, giving the enemy opportunities to divide and conquer.
Upon learning that the Laiserman had emerged in full force, they decisively pulled their forces back, concentrating them at the port docks.
Considered the best-constructed and most open area in the entire City of Usmer, this was also the lair of the Brotherhood of Sword Spike.
Holding this area firmly in their hands was equivalent to holding the lifeblood of the entire city, making the people here submit to them.
“Chief Patralem, we selflessly took you in when you were most distressed and helpless, providing you with a place to settle here, yet you repay our kindness in this way?” A middle-aged man loudly questioned from the dock entrance.
This man was extremely tough, wearing armor of a style distinct from Felen’s, made of animal skin, scale plates, and embedded rivets in layers, offering both strong protection and agility, possessing extraordinary charisma, with a subtle yet powerful magic fluctuation emanating from it. This type of armor was not a product of Felen, but a specialty from the Far East Empire, called the Mingguang Armor, also known as the Far East Bright Armor.
It was heralded as the best armor, surpassing even Dwarf plate armor because, while offering defensive power comparable to heavy armor, it imposed constraints on the body only equivalent to medium armor. Some specially designed General’s Mingguang Armor was even as light as light armor, paired with the Far East Empire’s unique mystic array, making it very different from the native armor of Felen.
This armor, rare on the west coast of the Sea of Fallen Stars, was not uncommon in the City of Usmer. The several high and tough Elite behind the middle-aged man wore the same style of armor, though the magic aura flickering on theirs was far less powerful than his.
This was naturally thanks to Cesk’s Golden Road, the unique path connecting the Far East Empire, conducting trade through here, and as a close neighbor, the City of Usmer naturally benefited.
Seeing these Far East Bright Armor warriors, Gaven, who was surrounded among the Laiserman, couldn’t help raising an eyebrow, feeling joy instead of fear. Initially, he was worried this street gang might be too weak, intimidated before the fight began, unable to help him test the combat strength of the Laiserman, also making it inconvenient for him to proceed with his next plans.
