Chapter 1533: Chapter 1533
As for the reason, it’s of course to accumulate wealth. What could be more convenient than using vast amounts of wealth to approach those Giant Dragons and make them serve oneself?
Sambia, a nation with immense wealth, has always relied on mercenaries instead of forming its own army, which is a highly unusual situation unless they hold trump cards in their hands that make them unafraid of invasions by ordinary armies from other forces, such as the Purple Dragon Army of the Komeer Kingdom.
If a Dragon Cult, wielding numerous Giant Dragons and Dragon Sorcery Wraith allies, were lurking behind the scenes, it would all make sense.
Years ago, when Anka rapidly developed in the Valley, the party that suffered the most in terms of interests was naturally Sambia. When they realized that ordinary methods couldn’t suppress Anka’s growth, they had no choice but to send out their trump card—the Dragon Sorcery Wraith.
After all the twists and turns, Anka’s eventual downfall still came at the hands of Sambia, and it could only be Sambia; the Santarin Association hadn’t been established back then.
With intelligence regarding the Dragon Sorcery Wraith swirling in his mind, Gaven’s actions showed no hesitation as he unleashed all his significant methods.
Undead Vengeance Realm.
Summon Shadow Legion.
Summon Five-Willow, activate Five-Willow Overstate Full Form.
Six-armed Snake Demon, Daphne, Lizard Queen, Estelle, Razorback Claw, all summoned by Gaven.
Even though Gaven wore Anka’s face, it was still him on the inside, including his abilities.
Whether he actually summoned the Six-armed Snake Demon and others, or whether it was all simulated through illusion techniques based on his own abilities, would only be known after leaving this place.
Regardless, all perceptions and communications felt as real as in reality.
"Kurgor, Agasha, engage that Dragon Sorcery Wraith."
"Ophelia, Daphne, Estelle, deal with that Necromancer first."
Gaven immediately completed the tactical deployment; spellcasters are always prioritized targets, and he wasn’t fooled by the overwhelming power of the Dragon Sorcery Wraith.
The most dangerous was the Necromancer lurking behind the Dragon Sorcery Wraith, as no one knew what else he might cast.
Though fully aware that the present scene was an illusion realm and everything an illusion technique, everything was so realistic that Gaven had to treat it all as real.
Apart from Estelle’s lack of combat experience, everyone else was battle-hardened and didn’t need Gaven’s command, as they would make the best choices.
None engaged in physical combat; all were shadows or Nightshadow bodies.
When dealing with the undead, those from the upper planes are not the best; it’s those who themselves are undead.
Especially liches and banshees, those undead heavily reliant on negative energy, are more easily restrained.
This battle was a remake of the confrontation against the Necromancer of Evil Beast Ghost in Efanso.
The Necromancer felt extremely constrained, and the Dragon Sorcery Wraith was enraged, roaring repeatedly, yet helpless. Neither Paralysis Gaze nor Paralysis Touch affected the Lizard Queen and Razorback Claw, composed of negative energy.
Even the most formidable Dragon Breath Attack was nearly ineffective because, upon becoming a Dragon Sorcery Wraith, their Dragon Breath had altered, no longer resulting from their body’s chemical reactions based on Dragon Basis, but a supernatural ability simulating Dragon Breath with negative energy.
This simulation could hardly reach perfection, hence the Dragon Sorcery Wraith’s Dragon Breath generally presented a mixed nature, half original energy attribute nature and half negative energy impulse.
The transformed Dragon Breath’s original attributes could impact and cause damage to the Lizard Queen and Razorback Claw.
But the negative energy impulse turned into a healing effect when reaching Nightshadow composed purely of negative energy.
Typical of damage dealt on one side and healing on the other, effectively wasting efforts.
This situation was mutual.
Most of the Dragon Sorcery Wraith’s unique abilities and attacks generated from negative energy failed to affect the Lizard Queen and Razorback Claw.
Similarly, the Lizard Queen’s Shadow Dragon Breath naturally wouldn’t produce any effect.
So, the three dragons’ battle ultimately unfolded in physical combat, occasionally interspersed with the Dragon Sorcery Wraith’s spellcasting, albeit with negligible effect due to its spellcasting ability resembling limited Spell-Like Abilities, skewed towards the necromancer system and involved negative energy application, naturally restricted and unusable.
With a series of special abilities restricted, Giant Dragon battles were extremely dull, merely involving charges, bites, and tail sweeps back and forth.
Moreover, their immense body size decided they were not dexterous at dodging, only capable of direct confrontation.
For a while, thumping and smashing sounds echoed, black mist billowing, appearing powerful but actual destructive force being relatively limited, as their pure negative energy bodies conferred them very strong damage reduction abilities.
No special ability comes without reason; many are cause-and-effect relationships.
Nightshadow’s damage reduction ability is such, though it differs in nature from the damage reduction formed by combat armor’s absolute protective layer.
Those pure energy-bodies, even if solidified, can’t compare to material bodies, identifiable at a glance by their energy-specific dispersal state in the body, like radiance for light bodies, while spirits like ghosts appear enshrouded in black mist.
Spirits have a strong affinity for negative energy, which usually gravitates towards them actively, let alone being an intrinsic part of their bodies, with higher life dice souls having stronger affinity.
When attacked, the scattered negative energy gets partly re-attracted by their powerful affinity, akin to reducing some damage.
Therefore, positive energy-related attacks not only break the damage reduction on them but also cause extreme harm, as the negative energy doesn’t scatter from their bodies but gets neutralized by positive energy.
When Gaven transformed into the Five-Willow Overstate Full Form, the Dragon Sorcery Wraith’s fate was sealed. With just three strikes, white bones and black mist burst forth, paralyzing it on the ground, reducing it to a skeleton structure, which was merely a matter of time.
