Chapter 550: Chapter 550
An hour later, at Fisherman’s Feast.
"Xiao Tang, let me tell you, Han Qiwu is an excellent kid. If your Qingying gets together with him, they’ll definitely lead a good life!" Aunt Hong Mei enthusiastically shared with Mr. Tang and Mrs. Tang.
Mr. Tang and Mrs. Tang nodded repeatedly, and Mrs. Tang couldn’t resist starting to praise her own daughter.
Seeing this, Han Qiwu quickly exchanged a glance with Tang Qingying, raised his tea cup filled with Bamboo Leaf Green, and said, "Today is a special day for me—winning an award—and it’s also the first time I get to meet Uncle and Aunt. Let’s enjoy the food and drink to the fullest."
"Good, good, let’s enjoy the food and drink," Mr. Tang and Mrs. Tang laughed, instinctively picking up a skewer of grilled squid to eat.
"Mom and Dad, the chili powder on top is really spicy. Be careful when you eat it," Tang Qingying kindly reminded them. After speaking, she reached out with her chopsticks and gave Han Qiwu a big piece of grilled fish.
Mr. Tang merely smiled without saying anything. He particularly enjoyed eating spicy food and didn’t think much of it.
Han Qiwu said nothing, quietly pouring a glass of chilled tree sap using a clean cup and placing it beside him.
Sure enough, five seconds later, Mr. Tang started panting and frantically searching for water he could immediately drink.
Han Qiwu thoughtfully handed over the chilled tree sap.
Mr. Tang gratefully glanced at Han Qiwu, took the glass, and drained it in one gulp.
After a brief moment of relief, Mr. Tang carefully shook off some of the chili powder and couldn’t resist taking another bite.
Spicy food is addictive.
After finishing the entire skewer, Mr. Tang’s face turned beet-red as he downed another big glass of chilled tree sap and smilingly praised, "This chili is really fantastic! And the squid is fresh, perfectly chewy. Xiao Han, where did you get this chili from?"
"I planted it myself before. The yield is low, but the flavor is excellent," Han Qiwu replied with a smile.
Mrs. Tang agreed, nodding as she picked up a piece of grilled fish and placed it on her husband’s plate. "The grilled fish is delicious, too. Now I understand why Tang Qingying chased all the way here. Xiao Han, your cooking skills are incredible."
Tang Qingying pouted and huffed, "Mom, I can cook too! And I can make you sweat buckets from eating, you know!"
"I’d break a sweat eating hot pot base raw. Do you think I need you to boil noodles for me?" Mrs. Tang smirked and replied casually before picking up another piece of grilled crab to leisurely savor.
Right now, she was growing more and more satisfied with Han Qiwu, wishing the two could marry on the spot.
Then during their days off, they could have seafood feasts every time.
After eating almost to their fill, Mrs. Tang couldn’t help but lean toward Han Qiwu and ask softly, "Xiao Han, what do your parents think of our Qingying? Are they satisfied with her?"
"They’re satisfied! Although they haven’t met her yet, my mom saw Mr. Tang once when dropping off something for me. Mainly, I didn’t expect to meet both of you so soon, and Qingying’s work schedule has been hectic, so we haven’t found the right time yet," Han Qiwu explained.
"No worries, no worries. Today’s meeting just happened by chance. When your parents find time, we can arrange something then," Mr. Tang said with a dismissive wave.
Tang Jing, who hadn’t yet eaten his fill, looked up and reached toward Han Qiwu with a grin, "Xiao Han, don’t you owe me a red envelope? I’m practically acting as the lead matchmaker between you two."
"Uncle Whale, don’t rush. I’ll find where the mosquitoes are and make you a big red envelope—one that’ll make your fingers itch to open!" Tang Qingying chimed in mischievously.
"Oh, oh, siding with Xiao Han now, are you?" Tang Jing teased, though inwardly, he was deeply pleased.
Having watched Tang Qingying grow from a little girl into an adult, Tang Jing felt happy seeing her meet a good guy.
Han Qiwu scratched his head and grinned, "Brother Jing, when are you taking me out to go fishing? I’ve been waiting for you."
"Don’t worry. This month, I’ll take you and Qingying out for a nearshore fishing trip. But don’t worry, big brother and sister-in-law, I’ll just stay close to the shore, not head out too far," Tang Jing assured the parents.
"That’s good," Mrs. Tang nodded in agreement. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by N0veI.Fiɾe.net
Finished with their meal, Grandpa Chen and Grandma Chen exchanged a look, stood up, and mentioned that they had things to do at home, like tending to the chickens and ducks. They politely declined Han Qiwu’s offer to escort them, wandering off leisurely toward home.
Old folks don’t like inconveniencing younger people.
Anyway, their goal for this visit had been achieved.
An hour later, Mr. Tang, Mrs. Tang, and Tang Qingying went back to the city, bringing along bags of seafood. Since there was no time to stop by home during the trip, Han Qiwu didn’t pick out anything particularly special for them.
Watching the two cars drive off one after the other, Tang Jing turned around and smiled, "How’d your fishing skills improve so fast? You’re even catching up to Xiao Lin now."
"Maybe I’m just naturally talented," Han Qiwu responded, unapologetically confident.
"Come on, let’s compete. You can test out your Shadow Rod, and I’ll show off my Wavebreaker," Tang Jing said, gesturing for Han Qiwu to follow, while grabbing a bag of packed skewers and leading him to the sea channel behind the house.
"Wavebreaker? What kind of name is that?" Han Qiwu asked curiously while trailing behind.
In the small sea channel, a bright yellow mini fishing boat floated quietly on the water with two bold characters affixed to its side: Wavebreaker.
Beside the boat sat several sets of fishing rods, Tang Jing’s tackle box, and a couple of large freezers. There were also some special gadgets at the tail end of the boat.
"Cool, isn’t it? Took me ages to get this baby. It’s got one of the top horsepower ratings in the country and is insanely fast. Hop on, I’ll take you for a spin," Tang Jing said proudly. "Too bad big brother and sister-in-law were just here—they’d never let Qingying get on board."
Han Qiwu: "...So you’d let me get on board just because my parents aren’t here?"
Seeing Han Qiwu’s face pale a little, Tang Jing teased him, "What’s there to be scared of? I’ve got plenty of life jackets here, and this is nearshore. Worst-case scenario, the two of us will swim back."
"I’m not scared," Han Qiwu retorted, setting his Shadow Rod aside and climbing aboard the Wavebreaker to find a seat.
Tang Jing let out a hearty laugh. "I’ve checked the weather thoroughly; everything looks great. Let’s go to a new oil field and fish for big ones."
Excited about the prospect of ocean fishing, Han Qiwu nodded eagerly.
Tang Jing started up the mini fishing boat, skillfully steering it out of the little sea channel and heading straight for their destination.
Gentle sea breezes, rolling waves.
After about an hour of sailing, Han Qiwu spotted a construction site in the distance—a new oil rig, which was the oil field Tang Jing had mentioned. Steering the boat to within a hundred meters of the rig, Tang Jing stopped and turned to explain to Han Qiwu, "This oil rig is newly established. The area is strictly controlled—no electric or dynamite fishing here. Plus, the bottom of the rig is complex and naturally attracts various fish species, most of which are large. When you go fishing here, don’t force it; broken rods and snapped lines are common."
Han Qiwu nodded in agreement, filled with anticipation. "Shall we start now?"
"Not so fast." Tang Jing chuckled, pulling out two buckets of Antarctic shrimp from the cabin. He scooped up a large ladleful and dumped it into the seawater. "Let’s first see how the fish are biting."
