Chapter 71: Chapter 71
"OH, you brought Pluto with you," Amelia exclaimed when she saw Pluto with me when she welcomed me in their mansion.
She invited me that afternoon because she wanted to talk about the wedding.
"I already invited Tyra Hopper's team, Bianca," Amelia said as we walked inside the house.
Tyra Hopper is the wedding organizer that she hired for the wedding.
"Hi, Bianca."
I stilled when I saw a woman on the couch. Diana.
She's here. She was wearing a white simple dress and fluffy slippers. Her long curly hair fell on her shoulders.
"Diana, you're here…" I managed to smile at her and tried to hide my surprise.
"She's staying here, Bianca," Amelia said. "She said she was staying here in LA for a month so I offered one of my guestrooms. Diana's a dear friend to us, after all."
"I heard you're planning for a second wedding?" Diana asked when I settled on the seat next to her. Amelia left us and went upstairs.
"Yeah." I tried to smile at her. I didn't know why I felt uncomfortable with her. I really felt like she was hiding something.
"Are you going to invite me?" she asked. Her smile was playful but I felt like something else was in there.
"Of course." My eyes landed on the big box on her lap. It looked old.
My brows furrowed when I saw an old photo inside.
"Oh. These are Gideon's things." Diana told me when I noticed when she noticed where my eyes were. "I found it in his room. I decided to take a look at it."
My brows furrowed more. Did she enter Gideon's room?
"Look here." She picked up an old photo from the box and showed it to me. In the picture were two familiar faces in a school uniforms.
The guy in the photo was my husband. He was holding hands with the girl in the photo. I turned to Diana in front of me.
The girl in the photo. It was her. Her looks had only changed a bit in the past twelve years. But it was her...
"I didn't know Gideon had kept our photos over the years," Diana smiled at me. "Gideon and I look good here, don't we?"
I glanced at the picture. I couldn't help but agree with her. They looked good together in that old photo.
Diana… she really was beautiful. Then and now. No wonder Gideon fell deeply for her.
I felt something sting in my chest.
My eyes went to her. "Does Gideon know that you entered his room?"
"Don't worry, Bianca. I asked Gideon's permission." She pursed her lips. "I called him this morning. He even said I can stay in his room if I want."
I blinked. "You know Gideon's number?"
"Amelia gave me." Diana smiled. "She asked me to spend time with Gideon to help him remember the past. But I know Gideon's busy with work…" She shrugged. "I hope you don't mind, Bianca."
I closed my mouth. It was obvious she had feelings for Gideon. Hadn't she moved on from the past years?
"It's fine." I managed a smile. "You're Gideon's old friend… and appreciate you trying to help him…"
I swallowed. Gideon had a lot of memories with this woman. She was a big part of his past. But I didn't need to get jealous of her. Gideon assured me.
"Excuse me… I'll get something to drink," I said when a minute passed by and Amelia hadn't come back yet. "Do you want something?"
"No. Thanks."
I nodded, stood up, and walked to the kitchen. I stilled when I saw Charlie there.
He was leaning on the kitchen counter, drinking something from the mug in his hand.
"How are you, Bianca?" he asked in a calm tone.
The other night… I didn't have the chance to talk to him. All our attention was on Diana that I totally forgot he was here.
I slowly looked at him. He looked different from the last time I saw him. In New York. Three months ago.
He looked calm. His face cleanly shaven. He was back here in LA. Did I mean, he had already moved on from me?
"I-I'm fine. How about you?"
I noticed how his hand tightened on the mug he was holding. "You see, I didn't want to go back here… but I want to visit my daughter."
I shut my eyes. "C-charlie… I'm so—"
"Shut it, Bianca," he said in a calm but controlled voice. "I don't want Mom to hear anything."
My lips parted. When Gideon and I moved back here to LA, we were expecting that his parents already knew the truth, but they didn't.
I took a deep breath. "T-thank you for not telling Amelia anything."
His face hardened. "Don't thank me. I did this for Mom. I wanted to spare her from all this bullshit."
I slowly nodded at him before I proceeded to get water. My throat was running dry.
"What will you do now, Bianca?"
My eyes went back to him. "What do you mean?"
"Diana's back in Gideon's life," Charlie smirked. "She's the woman who owns his heart, Bianca. She'd do anything to get Gideon back from you."
I faced him. "She can't do anything, Charlie. Gideon and I are already married."
"Oh, yeah?" Charlie cocked his brow. "But let's see what will happen once his memory comes back, Bianca. When the accident happened, Gideon was still in love with Diana. She was the only woman in his life… What do you think will happen to you once Gideon remembers everything? Do you think Gideon would still choose to be with you? "
I stilled. I gripped hard on the glass of water in my hand.
"I told you, Bianca. You will never be happy with Gideon. You made the wrong choice when you chose him."
I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came off. I just remained standing there as I watched Charlie leave the kitchen.
