Chapter 59: Chapter 59
"DO you have any idea where Gideon is, Charlie?"
I asked Charlie when I saw him at the Henry mansion. It had been three days since that night happened. Gideon hasn't shown up yet.
We all thought he just wanted to be alone. But he was suddenly gone. According to Denver, Gideon asked him to drive him home. But when I came home, he was already gone. He even left his phone in our room.
I thought he'd go to Napa Valley, but I didn't find him there.
"What if something bad happened to him, Charlie?"
"Gideon's a grown man, Bianca. He can handle himself. If something ever happened to him, I'm sure he'd be in the news. He's Gideon Henry, after all."
I looked at Charlie. I couldn't believe he'd be able to do this.
"I hope you're happy with what you did, Charlie."
He sighed. "Gideon needs to know the truth, Bianca. It's inevitable."
"But not in that way."
He looked at me, his eyes sad. "I only did this for you, Bianca. I don't want you to get hurt in the end." He shook his head. "Did you see what happened? Gideon left you!"
"Because he's hurt, Charlie." I insisted. "He couldn't handle the truth. That's why he left."
"And do you think Gideon will still accept you after everything he learned?" He smirked. "If he's really a different person from the old Gideon, then his guilt will prevent him from continuing what you have together."
"And do you also think that after what you've done, I'd go back to you?" I answered back. "I'm sorry for the pain that I caused you, Charlie, but I could no longer be with you." I looked at him with sharp eyes. "Even if Gideon no longer accepts me, I won't come back to you."
"I was no longer surprised when Charlie did that," Helen told me when I talked to her on the phone.
"He's in love with you. He wanted you back…" She sighed on the other line. "Really, the things that love could do to people."
Amelia already hired a private investigator. But she had been acting cold to me. And I completely understand her. I hurt her two sons.
"Are you finally going back to New York, Bianca?" Kelly asked me after Rory announced to them that I already resigned from work. Today was my last day here at the store.
I gave her a small smile. "I don't know if I'm going to stay there for long, Kelly."
I told them that I'd go to New York tomorrow with Gideon. But the truth is, I'm going there to look for him.
The private investigator found Gideon's flight details to New York. He flew there the day after he left the house.
But we didn't exactly know where he was, the report said he didn't go to their house in Manhattan.
"We're gonna miss you, Bianca," Kelly smiled at me. "You're already a friend to me."
I smiled at Kelly. "Don't worry, I'll be back here in LA." I couldn't believe that I'd be able to make friends here in LA.
When I first came here, I hated this place. But now, I already considered it one of my homes.
"We can still see each other even if I'm not working here anymore."
Her eyes widened. "Really, Bianca?"
I smiled at her. "Of course. You have my number, right?"
Kelly gave me a hug before I left the store.
THE moment I arrived at JFK Airport, I didn't waste any time. I immediately went to the Henry mansion in Manhattan. But just like the report said, Gideon wasn't there.
His last credit card transaction was traced here to JFK Airport.
It was obvious that he didn't want to be tracked.
"Bianca?" I was walking on 5th Avenue when I bumped into a familiar face.
I blinked when I realized who it was. "Devi."
Devi was one of my closest people at work.
Her eyes widened. "Since when did you come back?"
"Just yesterday."
"You're with your husband?"
I nodded. "Y-yeah."
"We missed you, Bianca." Devi's smile widened. "Come on. We're going out tonight. You should join us! Everyone would be happy to see you."
"Well… I." I missed them… but this was bad timing. I was here to look for Gideon.
"Come on, Bianca. We haven't heard from you for a year."
I forced a smile. "Alright. I'll be there." Maybe I could find Gideon in the streets of New York at night.
"Bianca's here, guys!" Devi announced when I arrived at the bar she mentioned to me that night.
There were three of them on the couch. "We're happy to see you again, Bianca," Taylor said after giving me a hug.
I didn't know if they knew about my husband. I never told them about my marriage. After marrying Gideon, I filed for resignation and flew to LA.
"You never told us anything. We only found out you're married when Devi accidentally saw your picture in a business magazine."
"I'm sorry for not telling you. We've kept our marriage a secret," I bit my lower lip.
Fiona looked at me with curious eyes. "So, it's true. You're married to a multi-billion businessman?"
"Yeah. His name's Gideon."
Devi pursed her lips. "I really thought your boyfriend then was the BBC photographer."
"Oh, yeah. The Asian guy," Fiona agreed, looking at me while pouring alcohol into her glass. "What happened, Bianca?"
I gave them a small smile. "It was a long story. Come on, let's stop talking about my life anymore. Tell me, what's new here?"
While the three women in front of me were speaking, my eyes roamed the crowd. Hoping to find Gideon.
"You know–"
I stopped listening when I spotted a familiar built on the corner of a bar.
It was him. My heart pounded against my chest. It's him…
I couldn't properly see his face because of the dark, but I knew it was him.
"Bianca, are you listening?"
"E-excuse me…" But even before I could move, he already stood up from his seat and headed to the exit.
"Gideon…"
I tried to follow Gideon, my eyes never leaving him as I continued to fasten my pace.
"Gideon!"
I called when we reached outside. Slowly he turned to me. My eyes widened when I saw his face.
"What happened to you?"
