Chapter 25: Chapter 25

As Bryan drove, he glanced over at Ava, a friendly curiosity in his eyes. " So, Ava, tell me more about yourself. I realized we've only discussed work-related stuff. "

Ava hesitated for a moment, contemplating how much she wanted to reveal about herself to her boss. She admired Bryan's openness but knew that sharing her personal life, especially with someone in a position of authority, wasn't something she was comfortable with. Despite the undeniable attraction she felt towards him, she was wary of getting too close to her boss.

" Um, there's not much to tell, really, " Ava replied with a polite smile, hoping to steer the conversation away from personal topics.

Bryan glanced at her, sensing her hesitation. " Fair enough. We don't have to dive into personal details if you're not comfortable. I respect that. "

Ava felt a rush of relief at Bryan's understanding response. " Thank you, Bryan. I appreciate that. "

Their conversation shifted back to lighter topics, discussing hobbies, favorite movies, and recent books they had read. Ava found herself enjoying the conversation, feeling a sense of camaraderie and connection with Bryan that went beyond their professional roles.

Despite her attraction, Ava reminded herself that her feelings were transient, something she knew would fade in due time. She maintained a professional distance, wary of getting emotionally entangled, especially with her boss.

As they reached the destination, Bryan parked the car and turned to Ava. " Thanks for joining me for lunch, Ava. It was nice getting to know you better, even if it was just a little. "

Ava smiled, nodding in agreement. " Likewise, Bryan. Thanks for inviting me. "

As Bryan escorted Ava back to the office after their lunch, he couldn't help but notice the array of reactions from the employees present. Some shot envious glances at Ava, their faces etched with jealousy, while others seemed resentful or looked at her with outright contempt.

Ava, feeling the weight of the stares upon her, began to feel increasingly uncomfortable. Her gaze darted around, attempting to avoid the piercing eyes fixed on her. The unexpected attention made her nervous, and she fidgeted with the strap of her bag, wishing she could disappear from the scrutiny of her colleagues.

Sensing Ava's unease, Bryan placed a reassuring hand on her arm, his touch meant to convey a sense of comfort and solidarity. " Don't worry about them, Ava. Just focus on me and me alone " He said softly.

Ava managed a weak smile, appreciative of Bryan's attempt to alleviate her discomfort. " Thank you. "

Bryan noticed the uncomfortable atmosphere and the unwarranted animosity directed at Ava. He turned to her with a concerned expression. "Ava, be careful. Some people here seem to be giving you a hard time. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable."

Ava nodded, offering a small, appreciative smile to Bryan. "Thank you, Bryan. I'll be fine."

As the workday drew to a close, Bryan thought of sending a text to Ava to ask if he could give her a ride home but he didn't want to push his luck. It was a miracle that she joined him for lunch. But he was so close to getting her, he didn't want this chance to slip away. She could become unapproachable again if he waited.

So he decided to push his luck. He got up and made his way to her office. On his way there, he saw a lady approaching him and instantly knew she was trouble. He had never seen her before though.

Angela approached Bryan with purposeful strides. She had been trying to get his attention since she started in his company but he seemed unapproachable. But that b*tch Ava, whom she despise so much had managed to seduce him into having lunch with her. So she could do the same. If anyone should have Bryan, it should be her, she thought with pride and sashayed her way towards him.

" Good day sir " She greeted when she was a few steps away from him.

" Hello " He said simply and started walking away but she placed her hand on his arm to stop him which he did. He turned to her with gritted teeth. His look said it all.

Angela removed her hand, looking uncomfortable " Uh... I'm sorry... Huh, I was wondering if we could have dinner tomorrow night "

Bryan raised his eyebrows as though he didn't hear her well " I beg your pardon? "

Angela's stomach churned and her inner voice told her it would be wise to back off at that moment to save her face but she was too stubborn to listen. She needed to finish what she started, she insisted. With that thought in mind, she repeated her request but all she got was a quick shake of his head and with a curt nod, he was gone. Angela clenched her hands in tight fists and stared after him, ashamed that she was rejected. No man had ever rejected her, she did the rejection; not guys.

Well, this was not just any guy, she reminded herself. She was dealing with a drop-dead gorgeous and stinkingly rich man.

" Well Bryan, " She muttered " I'm going to have you to myself very soon, you won't be able to resist me for long " With that vow, she walked away.

Bryan entered her office and immediately, all eyes were fixed on him. The employees knew he was there for Ava and decided to watch their boss and b*tch who managed to seduce him with her innocent eyes.

Ava's eyes widened when she saw him. Oh no, she thought. The last thing she wanted was to have him frequent her office in search of her. Most of her colleagues already hated her as it was.

Bryan approached Ava's desk, his gaze soft and reassuring. He could see that she was uncomfortable.

" Do you mind if I give you a ride home after work? I want to ensure you get home safely. "
