Extreme Almightiest Young Master Chapter 98
Lin Feng, carrying the fast-asleep Tingting, returned to the car and drove towards the city. He called Li Yong on the way to get the address and hurried over—Tingting’s family was still waiting.
However, he unexpectedly found a missed call from Leng Mei on his phone. He tried calling back only to find her phone was off, which was alarming. Normally, Leng Mei wouldn’t call him out of the blue, and it was unlike her to turn off her mobile as she was a busy Dean at the academy—a fact Lin Feng was well aware of.
Everything seemed too abnormal, and he had a nagging feeling that something was wrong...
At midnight, Lin Feng arrived at Fu Gang’s house, parked his car, and carried the sleeping Tingting out.
When Lin Feng had called Li Yong earlier, Fu Gang’s family, upon hearing that Tingting was about to be brought home, insisted on waiting at the gate together, eager for Lin Feng’s arrival so that they could thank the Benefactor who saved Tingting.
Now seeing Lin Feng finally returning with Tingting, without saying a word, Fu Gang’s parents rushed over and knelt before Lin Feng, leaving him at a loss. He gently put Tingting down and tried to help Fu Gang’s parents up.
"Uncle, aunt, please get up," Lin Feng said, reaching out to pull them up.
"Mr. Lin, you truly are a benefactor to our family. Thanks to you, Tingting is saved. Otherwise, we can’t imagine what would have happened to our family!" Fu Gang’s mother said through tears.
"Mr. Lin, please let us kneel down for a moment. We really don’t know how else to express our gratitude. You saw our home; this is our heartfelt thanks!" Fu Gang’s father sincerely added from the side, indicating that they would do anything as long as Tingting was safe.
"Teacher Lin, if it wasn’t for you, my sister could never have come back. Please allow us to pay our respects," Fu Gang said, kneeling down as well with Li Yong’s assistance.
"It’s nothing, please stand up," Lin Feng tried to help them up again. It wasn’t that he couldn’t physically lift them, but he didn’t want to force them up and hurt their feelings.
"Mom, Dad, what are you doing?" Tingting, woken by the noise, stared with sleepy, confused eyes at her parents.
"Tingting, come here and kneel to thank your uncle for saving your life," Fu Gang’s mother urged Tingting, who was still standing.
"Oh!" Tingting walked over to her mother. Although she didn’t understand her mother’s intention, she obediently knelt down towards Lin Feng.
This...
Lin Feng truly hadn’t expected Fu Gang’s family to react this way. He hadn’t thought about asking for any compensation, but facing this situation, he felt touched. Tingting was home now, happily back with her parents, but those disabled children were not as fortunate as Tingting. He wondered how they were faring now.
"Everyone, please rise. Don’t do this," Lin Feng said, feeling that he had done the right thing. He wasn’t looking for any kind of return, but rather, he felt the genuine respect coming from their hearts. He waited for Fu Gang’s family to finish their gesture of gratitude before helping them stand up.
"Mr. Lin, please come inside for a drink," Fu Gang’s parents earnestly invited him, while Tingting ran into the arms of her beloved brother.
Though still weak, Fu Gang’s satisfying smile emerged as he saw his sister safe in his arms.
Unable to decline the earnestness of Fu Gang’s parents any further, concerned it might lead to another intense emotional display, Lin Feng agreed to follow them inside. The thought of having two adults kneel before him was distressing; there was no choice but to go with them inside for a while.
"Mr. Lin, how did you rescue Tingting?" Fu Gang’s father asked first. The traffickers must have been formidable, and Teacher Lin, so young, how did he manage to overpower them without getting hurt? It all seemed very odd to him, and he was full of curiosity.
"Actually, it was nothing special, just like in the TV dramas," Lin Feng tried to dismiss the issue lightly.
TV? What TV? How did this relate to anything he had ever watched on television? Lin Feng’s remark left Fu Gang’s parents thoroughly confused.
"Mom, Dad, uncle is a superhero. He killed all the bad guys and can even fly! It’s just like in the cartoons. With a swish, uncle kicked all the bad guys into the air, and they crashed heavily onto the floor," Tingting said excitedly, her wide eyes sparkling as she piped in.
With a snort of laughter, everyone in the room began laughing at the innocent words spoken by Tingting, a child not even five years old. Who could believe her words? Moreover, Lin Feng facing a group of bad guys alone? It’s impossible, not even Superman could do it easily.
"Tingting, be good, don’t say such things again, okay?" Fu Gang’s mother affectionately held Tingting in her arms and lovingly stroked her little head.
"Tingting, how could Uncle be Superman, and he would never kill anyone, that’s against the law, you must never say such things again." Fu Gang’s father looked at Tingting, then glanced at Lin Feng, thinking this Teacher Lin was about similar age to his own son. How could he possibly have the skills to kill someone? Even if such thing was true, it couldn’t be spoken of carelessly. It’s one thing to say anything at home, but if others took it seriously, how could our family continue to live with dignity? So it’s better to silence Tingting first.
"Mr. Lin, children are innocent and speak carelessly." Fu Gang’s father chuckled as he brewed a cup of tea for Lin Feng, but then suddenly remembered that Li Yong had once told him how incredibly miraculous Teacher Lin was. A vague sense surfaced that Tingting might be telling the truth, because she never lied. That means there could be some truth in her stories, and more reason not to let her tell others, no matter what, they couldn’t cause trouble for Teacher Lin.
"Tingting, you can’t talk about Uncle Lin like that anymore, understand?" Fu Gang also spoke up. No wonder Li Yong believed so strongly that Teacher Lin could bring Tingting back. It turned out that Li Yong knew about Teacher Lin’s background. So many traffickers had died, and only Teacher Lin brought Tingting back. That meant what Tingting said was likely all true—Teacher Lin really killed those traffickers! My god, just for that, Tingting must never speak of it again. The trouble it could bring to Teacher Lin would be immense!
"Understood." Tingting felt wronged. Clearly, Uncle Lin was a superhero, so why wouldn’t mom, dad, and brother let her say it? But if mom and dad said not to, then she wouldn’t.
When Lin Feng heard Tingting suddenly say such things, he was startled. Thankfully, no one believed her. Otherwise, it would have been very troublesome.
Meanwhile, Li Yong, hearing Tingting’s words, broke out in a cold sweat, his mind in turmoil. Others might not know what Lin Feng was capable of, but he knew Lin Feng’s terrifying skills all too well. Hearing Tingting, Li Yong realized she was speaking the truth—with Teacher Lin’s skills, killing was indeed not a difficult task...
My god, Teacher Lin actually killed someone!
Li Yong watched Lin Feng from the side, noticing he didn’t react at all and was chatting with Fu Gang’s family as usual. Li Yong then realized the gap between himself and Teacher Lin. If he had killed someone, he would be completely panicked, but Teacher Lin was acting as if nothing had happened, calmly dealing with everything. Such was the gap!
And yet, there was a problem. Teacher Lin had always only injured his opponents, never taking a life before. So why kill now? Even though those traffickers were despicable, that couldn’t justify simply killing them. Was there something that angered Teacher Lin into taking such action? He tried and tried, but couldn’t figure out what might have triggered Teacher Lin to such extreme measures.
No matter what, Teacher Lin is my mentor, I, Li Yong, just need to follow Teacher Lin and listen to his advice.
The next morning, Lin Feng didn’t leave Fu Gang’s home until long after sunrise. Fu Gang’s family was just too enthusiastic about their daughter’s savior. If Lin Feng hadn’t said he had a morning class to teach, they wouldn’t have let him go at all.
Settling into his car, Lin Feng thought it over and decided to call Ding Yi first to find out where he was so he could visit the old man, especially since before saving Tingting, the old man had called him with a tone that indicated something must have happened, changing Ding Yi’s usually cheerful demeanor to something more somber.
"I’ve finished up here, where can I find you?" Lin Feng directly asked after connecting the call with Ding Yi.
"Come to the villa near the school, the one where we play chess," Ding Yi replied calmly, but Lin Feng heard something different in his voice. Typically, Ding Yi was always jovial, so why was he sounding so calm today? It felt very strange, signaling that something must have occurred.
"Alright, see you in a bit." Lin Feng hung up and drove toward the school, trying on the way to call Leng Mei, but just as before, he reached only her voicemail, a disquieting sign.
Lin Feng soon arrived at the school and pulled up outside Ding Yi’s villa, puzzled as to why Ding Yi wasn’t outside playing chess as usual, increasing Lin Feng’s sense of unease as he stepped up and pushed open the villa’s door.
"Ah, Lin Feng is here, come join us for a drink!" Ding Yi greeted Lin Feng upon his arrival, inviting him to drink together.
However, Lin Feng felt something was off. He had never seen Ding Yi drink before, and now he was drinking so early in the day?
"Why is it just the two of you here drinking this early in the morning?" Lin Feng saw only two old men in the house and was even more puzzled. Weren’t these three always together? Why only two today? With that in mind, he directly questioned Ding Yi.
"Nothing much, just come have a drink," Ding Yi said, then downed the liquor in his glass in one go.
Qian Rong didn’t speak either, following Ding Yi’s lead by emptying his glass in one gulp.
