Extreme Almightiest Young Master Chapter 83

Throughout the journey, Lin Jie didn’t say much, merely following Lin Feng with a quiet smile until she got into his car. It was only then that she began to speak.

"Brother Lin Feng, that dean of yours is quite beautiful," Lin Jie said with a smile.

"Doesn’t seem like anything special to me," Lin Feng replied, not quite understanding the point of Lin Jie’s comment, dismissing it casually.

"Brother Lin Feng, you two must have a good relationship, right?" Lin Jie continued probing.

"Seems neither good nor bad, I guess," Lin Feng thought for a moment before giving a precise answer.

Hearing Lin Feng’s reply, Lin Jie smiled inwardly. So, Brother Lin Feng and that Iceberg beauty really do not have anything going on. That’s good!

That’s good!

Glancing at Lin Feng, who was focused on driving, Lin Jie thought to herself that Brother Lin Feng was truly handsome. More importantly, he was so capable—conducting French classes in such a way that he was probably unmatched by anyone before or after. And his cooking was so delicious. If she could really be with him in the future, it would certainly be very blissful.

At that thought, Lin Jie felt her cheeks grow warm, but her heart was sweetly content...

......

Leng Mei only got up and left when someone came to clean. She felt a sudden sense of purposelessness and wanted to chat with someone. She thought it over and decided to visit Ding Wan’er, suddenly realizing that apart from her best friend Wan’er, she truly did not have any other friends. She couldn’t help but mock herself: what have I been doing all these years, having so few friends?

After lunch, on his way to the office, Zhao Jian was surprised to see Leng Mei approaching. He wondered why he would encounter her at this time of the day; after all, who didn’t know that Dean Leng rarely left her territory during work hours. What was different today?

Hmm? Leng Mei didn’t seem as cold as she used to be. It was only when Zhao Jian got closer to her that he noticed this surprising change. The nickname Iceberg Leng was famous throughout the school, but today she seemed less cold. Which "immortal" had managed to melt this iceberg, Zhao Jian wondered.

That’s right, Lin Feng hadn’t visited the logistics department for quite some time. Seeing Leng Mei reminded Zhao Jian of Lin Feng. Maybe now, with her seemingly good mood, it was a chance to ask about his situation. After all, Lin Feng was under him.

"Hello, Dean Leng," greeted Zhao Jian with a smile.

"Hmm," Leng Mei hummed in response upon seeing Zhao Jian.

"Ah... Dean Leng, what do you think we should do about Lin Feng’s work situation? He hasn’t returned to our department for quite some time now," Zhao Jian asked, after giving it some thought.

"What’s wrong with Lin Feng’s work situation? He’s doing so well in my French classes, how could he possibly return to your department? Use your head. What are you thinking?" Leng Mei’s voice rose with irritation. Lin Feng was doing so well in her classes, and Zhao Jian’s words implied he wanted to move him back to logistics? That was just ridiculous.

Zhao Jian was left bewildered by her reaction. He had casually asked because she seemed in a better mood, but was that any reason to fly off the handle? How was it that she seemed even harder to talk to than before? Wasn’t he just creating trouble for himself with no good reason?

"Ah... Dean Leng, what I meant was that since Lin Feng is part of my department, I was just wondering about him because it’s been so long since we’ve seen him," Zhao Jian explained, not wanting to offend Iceberg Leng.

"He’s very busy with work in my department. How could he have time to return to yours? What nonsense are you thinking? No matter what, Lin Feng isn’t going back to logistics," Leng Mei mused internally whether she should completely transfer Lin Feng to the language institute. That could save a lot of trouble in the future.

"Well, Dean Leng, you’re busy; I’ll be going now," Zhao Jian said, feeling quite oppressed by Leng Mei’s chilly response. He questioned why he’d bother talking to Leng Mei about Lin Feng’s situation. It was just asking for trouble, a pointless scolding. From now on, he would wash his hands of any matters concerning Lin Feng.

Suffering an unjust rebuke, Zhao Jian could only curse his luck as he strode away without looking back.

Watching Zhao Jian depart, Leng Mei turned and headed towards Ding Wan’er’s office building.

................

Lin Feng safely dropped Lin Jie off at her school, reminding her of some everyday matters before heading back to campus in his car. He had classes in the afternoon and never missed any.

But no sooner had he entered the campus gates than he saw Li Yong carrying a bag and heading out. It was nearly time for class, so why was he leaving now?

With that thought in mind, Lin Feng drove straight over and stopped in front of Li Yong, blocking his way.

"Teacher Lin, it’s you?" Li Yong was startled, not expecting it to be Lin Feng.

"If I remember correctly, you have class this afternoon, don’t you?" Lin Feng asked Li Yong.

"Uh, this... Teacher Lin, I... I have some things to take care of!" Upon seeing Lin Feng, Li Yong grew fearful inside. The simple matter of skipping class or asking for leave, which would normally be easy for a student, suddenly seemed impossible to explain.

"Did you get the leave?" Lin Feng looked at Li Yong.

"That...that, I...didn’t..." Li Yong said, unable to help looking at his watch again, his body already shifting sideways, clearly preparing to make a quick escape.

Although Lin Feng was sitting in the car, Li Yong’s subtle movement couldn’t possibly escape his notice.

"If you dare to run in front of me, do you believe I’ll break your legs?" Lin Feng said to Li Yong, his voice unnervingly calm.

The moment Li Yong heard this, he couldn’t help but shudder. If it were anyone else speaking these words, he would have laughed in his heart and even responded with something even less believable. But knowing it was Teacher Lin speaking, images of those thugs flooded his mind.

He was truly scared, deeply scared, but with the situation being urgent, a glimmer of determination soon flashed in Li Yong’s eyes.

Li Yong took two steps back, ready to exert himself: "Teacher Lin, I really have an emergency. I have a fellow townsman waiting in the hospital for life-saving help. I can’t wait any longer. Even if you want to break my legs, I have to go today..."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Li Yong charged out.

Li Yong saw Lin Feng in the car, so he tried to run around it to escape, but he didn’t anticipate that Lin Feng would be faster. As he passed the car, he suddenly felt a grip on his collar, and Lin Feng, who emerged from the car, forcefully pulled him back to where he was.

Ah!

Li Yong knew Lin Feng was formidable but didn’t expect him to be this formidable. It even took him by surprise.

"Teacher Lin, please let me go. They’re waiting in the hospital to be saved," Li Yong said as he saw that he couldn’t escape Lin Feng’s grasp, his eyes red and pleading with Lin Feng.

"Speak clearly, and I’ll let you go," Lin Feng said, not actually wanting to trouble Li Yong but rather wanting to pressure him into telling the truth.

"Can we talk while we’re on the way? I don’t even know the situation at the hospital yet..." Li Yong said helplessly, only able to tell Lin Feng the truth, but he needed to get to the hospital first; he had no idea what had happened to his buddy.

"You can, get in the car," Lin Feng replied without saying much else. Li Yong’s behavior had already revealed some things, proving that if it weren’t for something serious, he wouldn’t have been pushed to this extent.

After thinking for a moment, Lin Feng still took out his phone to give Leng Mei a heads-up, informing her that he wouldn’t be able to teach in the afternoon.

Li Yong didn’t hesitate, knowing that the sooner he got to the hospital the better. Hearing Lin Feng say get in, he opened the car door and sat inside straightaway.

Lin Feng started the car and quickly drove out of the school.

"Teacher Lin, Tianhai City Second People’s Hospital," Li Yong stated the destination, eager to get there as fast as possible.

Lin Feng didn’t say a word and steered the car toward the Second People’s Hospital.

"Here’s what happened..." As they drove toward the Second People’s Hospital, Li Yong’s eyes turned red as he slowly narrated the events.

Turns out, Li Yong had a childhood friend named Fu Gang, who was currently studying at the medical school. To look after him, his parents brought his five-year-old sister to Tianhai to work together, and now, they were trying to buy train tickets to go home for the New Year. While shopping for tickets with Li Yong and the little girl, they ran into some scalpers. Initially, the extra fee the scalpers asked for wasn’t much, but then, they were led to a place where the scalpers suddenly demanded more money. Li Yong, losing his temper, got into a fight with them.

"And then what?" Lin Feng inquired.

"Then Fu Gang came to help me but was surrounded by a group of scalpers. By the time I finally dragged him out, he had already passed out. What’s worse, his sister... Tingting...she disappeared..." As he spoke, Li Yong’s eyes turned red, and tears were about to fall.

If only he hadn’t been too troublesome and bought the tickets honestly at the window, if only he had controlled his temper a bit better and not fought with them, if only they hadn’t fought then Fu Gang and his sister wouldn’t have been in trouble, if only...but there were no such ifs. Now, Li Yong truly loathed himself to death. It was one thing for him to get in trouble, but to have dragged his friend into this, what kind of person was he?

And the most heart-wrenching part was that Tingting had gone missing, leaving him wondering how he could ever face their family again.

"Eventually, I had no choice but to take Fu Gang to the hospital first. I was just coming back to get some money, and I still don’t know Fu Gang’s examination results." Li Yong covered his face with both hands, full of remorse.

"Teacher Lin, you have no idea, Tingting... is incredibly beautiful and particularly obedient... sensible. Everyone who has seen her likes her. For Fu Gang’s family, Tingting is everything. Tell me...what should I do?" Li Yong’s tears were about to fall as he stared at Lin Feng, his voice quivering with every word. He was truly afraid, afraid that if Tingting couldn’t be found, he wouldn’t know how to face their family...

"Let’s get to the hospital first," Lin Feng said after hearing the full story, now having a clear picture of what had transpired. Feeling Li Yong’s emotions, he unconsciously picked up the speed of the car.

Sitting in the car, Li Yong’s tears were spinning uncontrollably, gazing blankly out the window. But his mind was completely filled with thoughts of his good buddy Fu Gang and his sister. If anything really happened to them, Fu Gang’s family would never forgive him...

Why wasn’t it me lying in the hospital; why did it have to be my buddy? Where was the loyalty in that? It’s all because of my bad temper; it wouldn’t have ended up like this otherwise. The more he thought about it, the worse Li Yong felt, unsure how to face his friend later on.
