Extreme Almightiest Young Master Chapter 42
No one expected that the van would suddenly make a U-turn and charge back, aiming directly at the two people, with a very clear purpose. In this instant, Lin Feng understood that all of this was intentional, just not sure whether it was targeting Leng Mei or himself.
When Leng Mei saw that the van was charging towards her, she panicked and froze, her mind, yet to recover from the initial shock, seized up again.
She was frozen in fear...
Seeing Leng Mei like this, Lin Feng reacted even faster than the first time. In an extremely dangerous moment, he swept Leng Mei out of the van’s path in his arms.
Cursing inwardly, "Asking for death." As he dodged, he suddenly kicked a stone from underfoot, which shot out like a bullet and punctured the van’s tire without fail. Lin Feng did this very covertly, so much so that even Leng Mei in his arms didn’t feel any movement from him.
With a "bang," the van, already speeding, lost control due to the blown tire and crashed into the wall of a storefront by the road, finally coming to a halt.
"Lin... Lin Feng, what... what exactly is happening?" Leng Mei, coming to her senses, didn’t notice that she was still in Lin Feng’s arms. Fear was no longer her only reaction – confusion now filled her mind too.
"I don’t know either, let’s go take a look," Lin Feng shook his head, eager to find out what the driver’s intentions were.
He released Leng Mei from his embrace, took her hand, and then they both hurried toward the van.
The moment Lin Feng let go, Leng Mei was suddenly aware that she had been held by Lin Feng again. Although it was due to the danger they faced, it was something she had never experienced before. And why didn’t she feel angry now that Lin Feng was holding her hand, but instead felt a sense of safety?
There weren’t many pedestrians on the road, but some concerned passersby had witnessed the sudden traffic accident and called the police.
As Lin Feng approached the van, he intended to drag the driver out and interrogate him, but when he saw the situation inside, he was speechless.
Damn, how could this happen.
Turns out it was that damn Qian Dongguang’s fault; the bottle he had carelessly left under the windshield shattered upon impact, and a shard directly sliced through the nerves in his neck, silencing him forever...
How unlucky, just when I wanted to ask him some questions. And now, he had literally been silenced. There were too many people around, otherwise, that method might have been possible...
"Lin Feng, quickly wake him up, we should ask him why he was fixated on ramming us!" Seeing the person inside looking as though asleep, Leng Mei was anxious to find out why the van had targeted them so aggressively this evening.
"How can I wake him up when he’s already dead," Lin Feng said exasperatedly, wishing the man hadn’t died. It would have been so much better if he hadn’t burst the left rear tire.
"What, how could he just die like that?" Leng Mei pointed inside at the man, surprised. She noted there wasn’t much blood, and the car’s deformation wasn’t severe, how could he possibly be dead?
"He was just unlucky, the shard from the bottle cut through his neck nerve, leading to his immediate death," Lin Feng revealed the cause and then pulled Leng Mei to step back.
Leng Mei stood by, her mind racing, pondering why this young man was so determined to hit her and Lin Feng.
Lin Feng also stood quietly, pondering the same question as Leng Mei.
Just then, the sound of police sirens filled the air, and a police car arrived with two officers stepping out.
The site was close to the Southern District Police Station, and since the matter was serious, Wang Ming had taken his apprentice and rushed over as soon as they received the report. It took them just a few minutes to reach the scene.
Seeing Lin Feng and Leng Mei at the scene, Wang Ming couldn’t help but pause, finding it somewhat coincidental to encounter Lin Feng twice in one day over different matters. Nonetheless, he greeted generously, "Mr. Lin, what a coincidence."
"Oh, it’s Deputy Chief Wang," noticing the newcomer, Lin Feng thought indeed, it was quite a coincidence. It had been less than two hours since he left the police station, and here he was, caught up in another incident.
"What’s the situation?" Wang Ming asked, hoping Lin Feng knew the details so they could have a clearer understanding of the incident.
"To put it simply, that person seemed drunk, and he charged at me and Leng Mei. Leng Mei and I dodged twice, and then he crashed here," Lin Feng replied straightforwardly.
"Hmm? Twice? What exactly do you mean?" Wang Ming quickly caught the implication in Lin Feng’s words.
"He attacked us twice, once from behind and once head-on," Lin Feng didn’t conceal anything and spoke the truth.
"You don’t need to try to save that person, he’s already dead," Lin Feng added.
"What? He died just like that? We didn’t even get to question him, how could he possibly be dead already?" Wang Ming looked incredulous, glancing at Lin Feng and then intending to check on the driver himself.
"The shards of the bottle cut through the nerves in the neck and caused death. You are a professional and should understand better," Lin Feng added again.
Wang Ming still insisted on walking over to the minivan to confirm that the person indeed died from a severed neck nerve. Helplessly, he could only say to his apprentice, "Apprentice, call the forensic team over."
"Mr. Lin, could you two cooperate with me later and return for a statement?" Wang Ming asked.
"That’s fine, we need to go back to the police station to pick up our car anyway," Lin Feng replied. He then stood to one side with Leng Mei, watching Wang Ming arrange the scene.
Before long, the forensic team arrived and after a brief handover of the situation, Wang Ming drove Lin Feng and Leng Mei back to the police station.
In the car, Lin Feng suddenly came out with a sentence, "Riding in a police car twice in one day, does that count as fate?"
It made Wang Ming speechless, and Leng Mei still had her cold smile, but inside she thought Lin Feng could be quite humorous at times.
Because the situation was clear and there was surveillance in the area, they were able to help Wang Ming’s apprentice record the statement smoothly, then after signing their names, the two of them planned to leave.
Just then, Wang Ming suddenly ran over and stopped the two of them, saying earnestly to Lin Feng, "I just reviewed the surveillance footage. With my over twenty years of police experience, this is definitely not any traffic accident. It was premeditated murder. Although you’ve avoided it today, be careful in the future. Contact me anytime if you have any problems, and if you recall any recent conflicts or anyone you’ve offended, inform me promptly."
Wang Ming was actually very enthusiastic, something that would have already scared most people to death.
But Lin Feng had guessed this early on, and Leng Mei was always indifferent, so their reactions were not very big after he finished speaking.
This left Wang Ming speechless because normal people hearing someone wants to kill them would definitely not have this kind of reaction. These two were just too... too calm.
"Thank you," Lin Feng said before he directly pulled Leng Mei out the door. He didn’t want to worry her too much.
As for himself, he didn’t take it seriously at all.
On the way back to school, Leng Mei sat in the back seat, looking at Lin Feng, who was focused on driving, and she suddenly felt that this Lin Feng was really different from the boys in the past. He had no hint of frivolity but instead an air of maturity beyond his age, and he was incredibly talented, especially with his gift for languages, far surpassing her own self-proclaimed genius. He was modest, even with a touch of humor...
Unknowingly, Leng Mei thought of many things about Lin Feng, and she suddenly understood why she didn’t feel the same aversion as she did with other men when she was with Lin Feng. He gave her a sense of safety, the kind that wouldn’t hurt others and didn’t want others to get hurt...
Her gaze toward Lin Feng became somewhat perplexed...
...
"Brother Bao, something happened to Dongguang," a hoodlum who was assigned by Brother Bao to watch the situation nearby called.
"Be more specific, what happened?!" Brother Bao was confused, what does ’something happened’ mean?
"Dongguang died in a car accident."
"What, how could he be dead?! Did you see what happened?" Brother Bao was now a little angry. How could this happen? Dongguang used to drive just fine; how could he crash into a wall and die today?
"He hit the target twice, both times dodged, then somehow a tire blew out, he couldn’t control the direction, and crashed into a wall, not sure how, but he died," the hoodlum recounted the situation in detail but even to himself, the details seemed confusing.
"What? Hit twice and both were dodged, for real?" Hearing this, even Brother Bao hardly believed it. Dodging once could be attributed to quick reflexes and coincidence, but twice was beyond belief.
"It’s true. I saw it with my own eyes. Also, I saw Old Wang arrive, so I didn’t dare get any closer," the hoodlum said helplessly.
Wang Ming was known to these hoodlums as Old Wang because he was too familiar with them, and they all shivered at the sight of him, unanimously giving him this nickname.
"Come back," Brother Bao said after hearing Old Wang had intervened. He couldn’t really say more, only cursing silently to himself.
Dongguang, you unlucky soul. Such a simple task, and you messed it up for me and even **** lost your life. Why am I so cursed, to have found just you for this? Instead of settling the matter, now I have to pay a hefty sum of hush money, damn it, what bad luck, such misfortune.
Moreover, the biggest headache is that Old Wang is involved now. Looks like it’s better to lay low for a while. If he finds any leads, that’ll be troublesome.
Most importantly, Brother Bao felt that nothing had been going right lately, always dishing out money, and everything he touched seemed to go wrong.
