Chapter 400: Chapter 400
Standing on top of a building, a youth with long black hair and deep green eyes was currently staring at the city before him. With his watch close to his mouth, the youth softly muttered.
"Have you spotted the enemies yet?"
The youth's name was Yuri Red, and he was currently the leader of his team representing class [1-Hero-4]
…Being the leader of his group, Yuri took responsibility for his group and was the one responsible for coming up with the team strategy.
Currently, they were inside of what seemed to be a post-apocalyptic ghost town. Since he wasn't familiar with the enemy nor the environment, his first order was to gather as much information as possible before making any moves.
"[Negative. No visual on their code holder yet,]" a voice crackled through his earpiece. It was his scout, Nina, who was currently positioned on a nearby rooftop, using her enhanced vision to scan the area.
Yuri tapped his fingers against his arm, deep in thought. "Keep looking. If we can pinpoint their code holder before they find ours, we gain the upper hand."
Yuri exhaled slowly, his green eyes narrowing. He wasn't worried about a direct fight—his team had strong combatants—but this game was more than just brute force. Strategy and deception would determine the victor.
Another transmission came through. This time, it was Kai, one of their frontline fighters.
"[Leader, we've got movement. North sector, moving fast. Someone's trying to lure us out.]"
Yuri's eyes flickered with interest. 'So they're testing us already?'
"[One guy, moving aggressively. A heavy weapon user—looks like a broadsword.]"
"Can you tell me the name of the opponent?"
There was moment of silence, the silence continue to stretch.
[It's Aric! The enemy is from class [1-Hero-1]! What should we do?]
A thin line formed on Yuri's lips. 'Aric.'
He had done his research before this match, and if there was one thing he knew, it was that Aric was very bad news for them.
Yuri minds started to work at extremely fast, trying to best to come with any plan in the time.
As the gear of Yuri mind moved, a smile appeared on his face as he quickly turned on his watch and sent a few commands.
"Alright, I want you to track him from far. Make sure you keep a close eye on him and don't for a single second lose sight of him, understood?"
Thereafter, turning off his watch, a smile appeared on Yuri face as he thought to himself.
'We might be able to win this'
Yuri took a deep breath, steadying himself as he considered his next move. Aric was a powerhouse—there was no denying that. Engaging him head-on was a fool's gamble, but there were other ways to deal with someone like him.
'Bait him in and isolate him,' Yuri decided.
But what if he was an itself a bait?
What if he was just decoy in luring them out in and finish them in one swoop?
Yuri couldn't think of possibility that Aric would allow himself to follow someone else's order. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝✦𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✦𝕟𝕖𝕥
The possibility was an itself very but nothenless there was an possibility.
Batteing on his gut feeling, Yuri see through Aric plans.
...But at the moment What he needs was information.
He needed more information before deciding on the right course of action.
Just as John was immersed in his own thoughts, his watch vibrated. Thereafter, John heard one of his teammate's voices coming from the speaker of the watch.
[Captain, spotted someone on the west side].
Hearing this piece of news, John's brows furrowed slightly as he carefully asked
"Noll, do you know the identity of the individual?"
[Unsure-wait, I'm getting a closer look]
"Yes, be careful and don't get spotted. Make sure you keep a safe distance from them"
Nodding his head, Yuri warned Noll, his teammate, in advance.
If the other team found out that they had a visual of them, their advantage would immediately disappear. They had to be extra careful.
Turning off his watch as he waited for Noll to respond, Yuri brows furrowed as he fell into deep thought.
Before the tryouts started, Yuri had looked through the list of students that he had to watch out for. Therefore, as soon as he knew Aric was one of the people present, he already knew the general composition of the opposite team.
From what he recalled, the other team compromised of, Aric, Evelyn, Volt, Hora, Zack, and Lucas.
…apart from Aric, Evelyn, and Lucas, John wasn't very wary of the other three. To him, they were extras. Nothing worth fearing, at least not yet.
But with Aric being the wild card, Yuri couldn't afford to underestimate any of them. Aric's strength was well-known, and his unpredictable nature made him a dangerous opponent.
As for Evelyn and Lucas, they were also major concern for Yuri.
Evelyn was one of the top 10 in entire first year in academy.
She was strong, maybe not strong as Aric but not too far behind.
As for Lucas, he was mystry that Yuri has yet solved.
He knows for sure that starts of the academy year, Lucas was weak but he grows rapidly strong and not only that somehow he even became discipline of Yato, considered as strongest hero, God Of Calamity.
...And after that everyone's knows Lucas strength.
He wa ranked lower than 1000 before the mid term exam but now he was at rank 3 in first year.
Form this rapid growth sprout any can guess Lucas strength.
He was just one rank shorter then Aric who is ranked 2 and two ranks shorter than Adrian who is ranked 1.
But Yuri knows for sure that Lucas can go head to head against those monsters and maybe even against them.
The upcoming battle going to very taxting physical and meantly that's for sure.
...But Yuri was confident in his team's ability to deal with them.
However, the unknowns—the rest of the opposing team—were still a mystery, and Yuri couldn't allow that to be a potential weakness.
Therefore, his current focus was now on finding out the whereabouts of Evelyn and Lucas. Once he had a read on them, he could come up with an appropriate plan.
A couple of minutes since Dante last contacted him, Yuri suddenly felt a vibration on his wrist. Quickly turning on the watch, Yuri seriously asked.
"You've got something?"
[Captain, Noll here, I've got a visual. According to what I can see, Hora is walking by himself]
"Hora? wait are you sure?"
Hearing Hora's name being mentioned, rather than being happy, Yuris frown deepened.
…that was because he wasn't with Aric.
Since he had investigated the group in advance, he knew who Hora was. Aric lackey.
…The real question was, why was he by himself.
