Chapter 388: Chapter 388
Ella come out of the [Hope Haven] with shaky legs.
She just learned the major truth about her father.
Ella's feeling were rather complicated now.
Her entire life goal was to kill name man Thomas Johnson, her biological father but now he is dead.
...And not only that she just learned truth about hey he killed her mother.
Ella doesn't wheather to believe in this or not but the words of the letter echoed in her mind, unsettling her.
All this time, she had lived with a singular purpose—revenge. She wanted to hunt down her father, the man she believed had coldly murdered her mother and abandoned her. But now that he was gone, and with this new revelation, her feelings were a chaotic storm.
Her father was dead, and the vengeance she had clung to seemed pointless.
Was it even true? Could she trust a man who had left her to fend for herself all these years? The letter was sincere, but doubt clouded her heart.
Ella stopped in her tracks, her hand clenching the letter she had taken with her.
"Why now?" she muttered, her voice shaking. "Why tell me this when you're already gone?"
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She had lived her whole life without shedding tears for him. Now wasn't the time to start.
Yet, she couldn't deny the sharp pain in her chest, the hollow ache that came from knowing the truth—something she wasn't sure she wanted anymore.
Although, Ella was in unsuitable mind but she also learn something.
Something that shocked her too her core.
Yesterday, a guy in his late Seventeen come here in [Hope Haven] in her serch of her father.
And that guy name is 'Lucas Darkhart.'
It was purely by coincidence that Ella know that Lucas's come here yesterday.
Just before leaving [Hope Haven] Ella hacked CCTV camera footage and happened to see the young man who had visited the day before. The footage was grainy, but it was unmistakable—Lucas Darkhart.
Ella's heart skipped a beat as she processed this new information. **Why was he here?** She had no idea how Lucas was connected to her father, but something about it didn't sit right with her. She couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't just a coincidence.
She gripped the letter tighter, her knuckles turning white. The pain of her father's death was still fresh, but now her mind raced with suspicion. Lucas was known for his cunning, his ability to manipulate situations to his advantage.
Could he have been looking for the same answers she was? Or was there something deeper at play?
Ella's mind spun with questions. She had always believed her journey for revenge was hers alone, but now it seemed like she wasn't the only one searching for answers about Thomas Johnson.
The very thought of Lucas being involved in any way infuriated her.
Her resolve hardened.
**If Lucas knew something, then she would find out what it was.**
Without wasting any more time, Ella began making her way back to the city, her eyes burning with determination. She had lost her chance for revenge, but there was still something she could fight for—the truth.
"Combat magic is important, yet simple."
Currently, I was in the middle of [Combat Magic] class.
I glanced at Ella who was sitting next to me.
Normally Sunny would seat with me but today was different.
Just as this class starts, Ella decided to seat with me for some unknown reason.
...Poor Sunny tried to voice up against Ella but alas one glaire from her and he decided to seat away from here.
'Wonder what's going to happen him in future if he's now.'
Anyway Since seating next to me she didn't a say word to me. Which was weird but not unwelcoming.
I rather not have talked to me.
Anyway, She was jotting down notes as though she wasn't affected in any way.
"Most spells require you to refine the magic power inside your body. However, there are spells where this is unnecessary. The most well-known example is the Barrier spell...."
The class continued, seemingly without end.
Just when I was about to doze off, Ella tapped on my shoulder. When I wiped away my drool and turned to the side, she gave me a piece of paper.
I glanced at the paper Ella handed me and took a deep breath. The question was straightforward, but the weight behind it was anything but.
[How did you know Thomas Johnson?]
I expected her to ask this, but it still felt strange seeing the name written down, knowing how much it meant to her.
With a slight shift in my seat, I began to write my response.
[It was by chance, honestly. A few years ago, I visited Hope Haven with a friend of mine. It wasn't planned or anything. We were there to visit my friend's grandfather, who was a resident at the time.]
I paused, collecting my thoughts before continuing.
[While we were there, I happened to meet Thomas Johnson. I had no idea who he was back then, just that he seemed like a lonely old man. We only spoke briefly, but he mentioned things that stuck with me. It wasn't until much later that I connected the dots and realized who he was.]
I slid the paper back to Ella, watching as she read it, her face still holding that unreadable expression.
Inwardly, I wondered if this explanation would satisfy her. Meeting Thomas Johnson had been a coincidence, but now it seemed like fate had tied us both to him. Whether that connection would deepen or lead to something else, only time would tell.
Ella gave a slight nod, not looking up from the paper, and I leaned back in my chair. I had answered her question, but I knew this wouldn't be the end of it.
The real storm was yet to come.
And I was right few moments later she wrote back a reply.
[Why did you go there Yesterday?]
Ella's question felt like a sharp needle pressing into my skin, more piercing than her previous inquiry.
**Why did I go there yesterday?**
Of course, she would ask that.
I glanced at her from the corner of my eye. Her face was as calm as a still lake, but I knew better. Inside, she was probably seething.
I could almost hear the clock ticking in the background as I carefully considered my response.
I picked up my pen, keeping my movements slow and deliberate. After a few seconds, I wrote:
[Yesterday, I didn't go there by chance. I was searching for something...someone.]
I paused again, wondering how much I should reveal. Should I tell her everything?
I cut out the lines that I was writing and continued to write new words.
[It's been few years he died and I just happened miss him and decided to visit memorial ground, That's all.]
Sliding the paper back to her, I watched as Ella read it. Her face didn't change, but her fingers tightened slightly around the edges of the paper, creasing it.
She didn't respond immediately, and I could feel the tension building between us.
Next, I took the lead.
[You've been asking about him since last week. Why?]
[That person is my biological father.]
I wanted to poke her a bit, but I never expect her to drop the bomb.
I was seriously taken aback.
[I know what you're thinking. I feel the same way. I never thought I'd find someone who knew him either.]
Ella jotted down quickly.
[That person abandoned me and ran away. That's why I've been looking for him.]
I know he was her father but I didn't expect to Ella to tell me this.
Considering that she barely knows me.
Her words were blunt, raw, and filled with the weight of years of anger. I glanced at her again, but her expression was guarded, the walls firmly in place.
It was strange to hear Ella speak so openly, especially since she had always been so closed off about her personal life. It was almost unsettling, but at the same time, it made sense. Her father had been the source of her pain, the reason behind so much of her fury, and now he was gone.
A part of me wondered if she felt relieved. Another part of me knew better. Even if Thomas Johnson was dead, the scars he left behind were very much alive.
I decided to tread carefully, writing down my response.
[I didn't know. I'm sorry you had to go through that.]
I didn't know what else to say. There was no way to comfort someone who had been chasing revenge for so long, only to have it slip through their fingers. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⁂𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱
Ella glanced at the note, her eyes lingering on the words before she slowly nodded. Her face was still unreadable, but I could sense the storm inside her brewing.
After few moments she gives me yet another note.
[By the way, today will be my last day at Nova Academy before I leave for good.]
I blinked at her words.
